This study investigated the actual condition of book numbers in South Korean academic libraries. Book numbers that are used in the Korean academic libraries consist of a combination of author-number or author-name, the first letter of the title, and any other shelflisting device. This study examined the current problems that perceive academic librarians on book numbers and the problem awareness of librarians who are working at 110 academic libraries in South Korea. The result shows that academic libraries are using eleven different methods of the book numbers table including nine eastern methods and two western methods. Also, librarians mentioned that the crucial concerns among participating libraries were the duplication of the book numbers and ineffective collection management. Therefore, this study suggested the expansion of the book numbers system in order not to duplicate of book numbers and the unification of western and eastern methods so that academic libraries tackle problems of ineffective collection management.

In this study, the various financial management systems practiced by modem dual-income families were assessed by in-depth interviews with 6 people, 3 practicing integrated financial management and 3 practicing individual financial management. The results indicated significant differences between the two financial management methods regarding family structure, individual values, and family finances. Families that practiced individual financial management consisted of weekend couples without children who showed an individual-centered value tendency and seemed to take a positive attitude towards their future economic situation due to possession of their on stabilized financial assets. Based on these results, we can expect more families to adopt methods of individual financial management and show a wider variety in their financial planning tools which will require adequate and efficient countermeasures and strategies suitable for each financial management practice.

Many companies in Korea are paying close attention to Six Sigma to get better business results. And there are numerous success stories on the use of statistical methods in solving problems, improving processes and cutting costs. However, there are many cases in which statistical methods are misused or inappropriately applied. In this paper, the pitfalls to avoid in using statistical methods are discussed. Also the role of statistics in Six Sigma is examined.

The purpose of this parer is to provide a survey of the state of the art of routing methods in store-and-forward computer networks. The survey is carried out in line with a new taxonomy： heuristic methods, user-optimization methods, and system-optimization methods. This taxonomy on routing algorithms is based on two viewpoints： the level of optimization and the relative difficulty for the implementation in real computer networks. Some actual methods implemented in real computer networks are surveyed as well as the theoretical studies in the literature. This paper concludes with some points in need of further researches.

I propose new combined randomized methods for global optimization problems. These methods are based on the Nested Partitions(NP) method, a useful method for simulation optimization which guarantees global optimal solution but has several shortcomings. To overcome these shortcomings I hired various statistical selection methods and combined with NP method. I first explain the NP method and statistical selection method. And after that I present a detail description of proposed new combined methods and show the results of an application. As well as, I show how these combined methods can be considered in case of computing budget limit problem.

The employment of risk management theory in Urban Disaster Management System (UDMS) has become an important trend in recent years. The viewpoint of risk management is mainly a comprehensive risk assessment of various internal and external factors, and a subsequent handling of risks. Through continuous and systematic accumulation and analysis of risk information, disaster prevention and rescue system is established. Taking risk management theory as the foundation, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has developed a series of UDMS in the mega-cities all over the world. With this system as a common platform, OECD cooperates with different cities to develop disaster prevention and rescue system consisting of vulnerability assessment methods, risk assessment and countermeasures. The paper refers to the urban disaster vulnerability assessment and risk management of OECD and the mega-cities of different advanced and developed countries in the world, and then constructs a preliminarily drafted structure for the vulnerability assessment methods and risk management mechanism in the metropolitan districts of Taiwan.

The creation of knowledge is a major concern for knowledge management practice. In particular, effective knowledge creation is one of the critical success factor in SI(System Integration) industry. This paper designs a framework of effective knowledge creation methods for organizations in SI industry. First, we give a comprehensive survey on knowledge creation and discovery methods. And the structure of SI knowledge has been analysed. Also, characteristics of knowledge management processes of SI industry have been surveyed and analysed. A framework for effective knowledge creation of SI organization has been discussed based on the characteristics of SI knowledge and knowledge management processes. Organizational issues and theoretical issues of the methods have been discussed. Future research will be needed to expand the current framework and to examine the effectiveness of the proposed framework.

The use of the gas turbine for power supply is increasing recently. Accordingly, the operation and maintenance cost of the gas turbine is gradually increasing and the various efforts to cut the cost are needed. For an operation and maintenance cost saving of the gas turbine, reductions of the new purchasing charge and the reproduction repair cost of the hot gas parts are required through more effective operation and life management methods for the hot gas parts. The hot gas parts are the main parts of the gas turbine and they are replaced with the periodic. In this research, efficient operation and life management methods for the hot gas parts were presented with the cases. The methods were analyzed and verified based on real data and the cases for improving a lifetime were utilized in the field.

Today, most companies are needed to become interested on e-Biz and information management system. Especially, Data classification format system was very important for application to effective and efficiency management decision support. They should include main entry which consists of department, employee's name, title, publication date. Now, each company is using eleven different methods on data classification format system. In this paper finding result was as follows, in other words, general management document case using the nine date classification methods and special report management document ca se using the twodata classification methods. The aim of this study is to investigate problems that the present data classification format system has and some concerns that should be taken into account in case of the modification of the data classification system and change into a new one. This study is based on the survey in that the company managergave to 35 companies throughout the nation. As a result, the survey indicates that the crucial concerns of the participating managers are ineffective management information source and the duplication of data classification systems. This paper is the transcendental study the introduction of data classification format systems to business companies in Korea. This paper provided the fundamental data for the effective business process reengineering in business activity for management information.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper proposes an effective and systematic methods of risk management in product development project. Methods: This paper first discusses what risk factors be considered during product development period and then presented a model for preventive risk management. For that, this paper proposes how to evaluate the risk factors and risk events, and how to select prevention action for managing risk factors effectively. For this process, this paper uses well-known quality tools such as House of Quality (HOQ) and Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA) methods. Results: There is an inherent need for the development of robust risk management framework in order for product development projects to be successful. The identification and quantification of risk factors, risk events, and prevention actions can have significant effects on the success of a product development projects. Project managers can implement the proposed model to improve project success. Conclusion: The findings showed that this method would be effective for project managements in dealing with risk management issues in product development projects. This method presented would be an one of good guidelines for practitioners in the industry.
