In the last meeting of KAS, we reported the first statistical study of Faraday rotation measure (RM) in the large-scale structure of the universe using the data of cosmological structure formation simulations. With a turbulence dynamo model for the intergalactic magnetic field (IGMF), we predicted that the root mean square of RM through filaments is \sim 1 rad/m^2. Future radio observatories such as the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) could detect this signal level. However, it is known that the typical foreground galactic RM is a few tens and less than ten rad/m^2 in the low and high galactic latitudes, respectively. So the RM in the large-scale structure could be detected only after the foreground galactic RM is removed. In this talk, we show how we remove the foreground galactic RM and what we obtain from the masked data, by using some noise models and masking techniques. Our results can be used to simulate future RM observations by SKA, and eventually to constrain the origin and evolution of the IGMF in the large-scale structure.

Mycoplasmal pneumonia of swine(MPS) cause by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae has been recognized as a serious impediment to swine production due to chronic respiratory disorder which result in the weight loss and decreased feed conversion. The disease causes a great economic losses in pig industry by characterizing with high morbidity, low mortality, growth retardation and low feed efficiency. The present study was conducted to investigate the titers of antibody against M hyopneumoniae from the regional and seasonal groups of the slaughtered pigs by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The result have shown that the average seropositive rate of M hyopneumoniae infection was 84.6% . The regional seropositive rate in Korea showed 87.4% in Kyonggj, 83.4n in Kangwon, 89.2% in Chungnam and 77.6% in Chungbuk area, respectively. Also the seasonal seropositive rate was appeared as 78.6% in spring,90.1% in summer, 76.9% in autumn and 83.8% in winter, respectively.

Size-mass relationships were estimated for 4 species belonging to genus Semisulcospira from the Guem River, Korea. These 4 freshwater snail species: Semisulcospira libertina, Semisulcospira coreana, Semisulcospira gottschei, and Semisulcospira forticosta. Between June and November 2011, samples were caught by dredge (mesh size 10mm of multifilament nylon, total length 4.35 m) at depths of < 2 m. Estimates of for parameter b of the size-mass relationship (W = $aSH^b$) ranged between 2.0072 (Semisulcospira libertina) and 2.3463 (Semisulcospira gottschei).

여러 조건하에서 Clonorchis sinensis로부터 helminth glutatione S-transferase(28kDa isozyme)가 결정화되었다. 0.05 M potassium 완충 용액 (pH 7.0) 내에서 10% polyehtylene glycol MME 550(PEG MME 5 K)에서 자라난 결정이 $3.0{\AA}$ 분해능까지 회절하였다. 이 결정의 결정학적 자료는 다음과 같다 : 단사정계 공간 군 C2, $a=95.83{\AA}$, $b=63.82{\AA}$, $c=235.09{\AA}$, ${\beta}=97.2^{\circ}$.

The redox reaction $M^{(x+n)+}+\frac{n}{2}O^{-2}{\rightleftarrows}M^{x+}+\frac{n}{4}O_2$ of multivalent ions in glass melts influences the melting process and final properties of the glass including the fining (removal of bubbles), infrared absorption and homogenization of melts, reaction between metal electrodes and melts or refractory and melts, and transmission and color of glass. In this review paper, the redox behaviors that occur frequently in the glass production process are introduced and the square wave voltammetry (SWV) is described in detail as an in situ method of examining the redox behavior of multivalent ions in the melt state. Finally, some voltammetry results for LCD glass melts are reviewed from the practical viewpoint of SWV.

Chronic lateral ankle instability occurs in 10% to 20% of individuals after acute ankle sprain. The management of chronic lateral ankle instability is traditionally conservative treatment in the acute phase. On the other hand, surgical intervention is considered if conservative treatment fails and the symptoms are ongoing. This review focuses on the surgical approaches to treatment of chronic lateral ankle instability, including $Brostr{\ddot{o}}m$ surgical techniques, with a review of the traditional procedure and newer techniques.

Novel trans-ditrifluoroacetato, malonato-1, 4-butanediamine Pt(IV) complex, K104 was synthesized as a chemotherpeutic. The cytotoxicity of K104 against various human cancer cell lines were evaluated by MTS assay in vitro. The IC50 values of K104 ranged 15.83-25.83 $\mu\textrm{M}$, compared to CBCDA ranged 23.24-69.6 $\mu\textrm{M}$. Among several cancer cell lines, K104 showed more potent than CBCDA in colon cancer cell lines. (omitted)

한국(韓國)에서 사육(飼育)되고 있는 닭의 육용종(肉用種) Hubbard bro.와 Cobb 및 난용종(卵用種) Hy line 그리고 우리나라에서 육종(育種)된 한협(韓協)325호(號)의 병아리를 공시동물(供試動物)로 하고 개방식중량측정형(開放式重量測定型) 호흡시험장치(呼吸試驗裝置)를 사용(使用)하여 에너지대사량(代謝量)을 측정(測定)한 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 1. 병아리를 9 주령(週齡)까지 cage에서 사육(飼育)한 1수당(首當) 평균(平均) 체중(體重)은 Hubbard bro.가 2570.7g이고 Hy line은 776.9g였으며 한협(韓協)325호(號)는 748g 이었다. 2. 주별(週別) 1 수당(首當) 사료섭취양모(飼料攝取量)은 3주령(週齡)에서 Hubbard bro. 가 54.6g으로 Hy line의 26.7g에 약(約) 2배(倍)였으며, 8령(週齡)에서는 151.1g과 57.2g 으로 약(約) 3배(倍) 정도(程度)였다. 음수량(飮水量)은 5주령(週齡)에서 Hubbard bro.가 1일(日) 평균(平均) $226m{\ell}$, Hy line 이 $58m{\ell}$, 8주령(週齡)에서는 $282m{\ell}$와 $70m{\ell}$였다. 3. 분(糞)의 배설량(排泄量)은 4주(週)와 8주령(週齡)에서 완전건조상태(完全乾燥狀態)로 1일(日) 1수당(首當) Hubbard bro.가 18.7g과 41.5g이었고 Hy line은 6.1g과 10.0g이었다. 4. 에너지 섭취량(攝取量)과 배설량(排泄量)은 3, 5, 8주령(週齡)에서 사료섭취(飼料攝取)에너지와 분(糞)의 배설(排泄)에너지를 측정(測定)하여 대사(代謝)에너지를 조사(調査)한 결과(結果) Hubbard bro. 는 75.4~77.1%였고 Hy line은 75.0~83.5%로 난용종(卵用種)의 사료이용율(飼料利用率)이 높았다. 5. 병아리의 호흡상(呼吸商)은 육용종(肉用種)이나 난용종간(卵用種間)에 차이(差異)를 인정(認定)할 수 없었으며 0.78에서 0.97사이였는데 사료섭취량(飼料攝取量)이 적으며 0.78로 떨어졌으며 많아짐에 따라 0.97로 증가(增加)하였다. 6. 대사체중(代謝體重)에 대한 에너지의 발생량(發生量)은 83.1~123.1Kcal로서 24시간(時間)동안 사료(飼料)의 섭취(攝取)를 거의 하지 않은 상태(狀態)에서는 83.4Kcal로 기초대사량(基礎代謝量)에 근사(近似)하였고 동물상내(動物箱內)의 온도(溫度)가 $27{\sim}34^{\circ}C$로 높을 때에는 123.1Kcal로 증가(增加)하는 현상(現像)을 나타냈다.

The effects of additions/deletions in glycosylated residues of recombinant human EPO (rhEPO) produced in CHO-K1 on their secretion were examined. hEPO cDNA was amplified from human liver mRNA and cloned into the pCR2.1 TOPO. Using overlapping-extension site-directed mutagenesis method, glycosylation sites at 24th, 38th, 83rd, and 126th were respectively or accumulatively removed by substituting its asparagine (or serine) with glutamine. To add novel glycosylation sites, 69 and 105th leucine was mutated to asparagine. Mutant and wild type rhEPO constructs were cloned into the pcDNA3 expression vector with CMV promoter and transfected into CHO cell line, CHO-K1, to produce mutant rhEPO mutant rhEPO proteins. Enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) and Western analysis with monoclonal anti-EPO antibody were performed using supernatants of the cultures showing transient and stable expressions respectively. Addition of novel glycosylation reduced rhEPO secretion dramatically while deletion mutants had little effect except some double deletion mutants ($\Delta$24/83 and $\Delta$38/83) and triple mutant ($\Delta$24/38/83). This fact suggests that not single but combination of changes in glycosyl groups affect secretion of rhEPO in cell culture, possibly via changes in their conformations.
