The magnetization of $Mn_{1-x}Co_{x}Pt_{3}$ ordered alloys was measured at various temperatures and the pressure effect on $T_{c}$ for X=0.25, 0.5 and 0.6 was examined. The X dependence of $T_{c}$ determined by Arott plot has a minimum near X=0.6. The field-cooling effect measurement for X=0.5 shows a reentrant spin glass behavior. It is found that there is a concentration showing no pressure dependence of $T_{c}$ between X=0.25 and 0.5. These magnetic properties are discussed with a rigid band model.

The magnetic properties for $Fe_{24}Pt_{76}\;and\;Fe_{26}Pt_{74}$ have been investigated. The temperature vs. magnetic susceptibility curve for $Fe_{24}Pt_{76}$ had no peak near the Neel temperature. The magnetization proccess at 4.2 K showed only a linear variation up to the high magnetic field of 240 kOe. That for $Fe_{26}Pt_{74}$ at 77 K showed a metamagnetic transition at 100 kOe. These properties were discussed on the basis of a band picture.
In this paper, the old Fourier-Motzkin method (abbreviated as the old FH method from now on) is first modified to the form which can derive all minimal vectors as well as all minimal support vectors of nonnegative integer homogeneous solutions (i.e., T-invariants) for a matrix equation $Ax=b=0^{m{\times}1}$, $A\epsilonZ^{m{\times}n}$ and $b\epsilonZ^{m{\times}1}$, of a given Petri net, where the old FM method is a well-known and direct method that can obtain at least all minimal support solutions for $Ax=0^{m{\times}1}$ from the incidence matrix . $A\epsilonZ^{m{\times}n}$, Secondly, for $Ax=b\ne0^{m{\times}n}$ a new extended FM method is given; i.e., all nonnegative integer minimal vectors which contain all minimal support vectors of not only homogeneous but also inhomogeneous solutions are systematically obtained by applying the above modified FH method to the augmented incidence matrix $\tilde{A}$ =〔A,-b〕$\epsilon$$Z^{m{\times}(n+1)}$ s.t. $\tilde{A}\tilde{x}$ = 0^{m{\times}1}$ However, note that for this extended FM method we need some criteria to obtain a minimal vector as well as a minimal support vector from both of nonnegative integer homogeneous and inhomogeneous solutions for Ax=b. Then those criteria are also discussed and given in this paper.

We report a search for fluctuations of the sky brightness toward the North Ecliptic Pole with AKARI, at 2.4, 3.2, and $4.1{\mu}m$. The stacked images with a diameter of 10 arcminutes of the AKARI-Monitor Field show a spatial structure on the scale of a few hundred arcseconds. A power spectrum analysis shows that there is a significant excess fluctuation at angular scales larger than 100 arcseconds that cannot be explained by zodiacal light, diffuse Galactic light, shot noise of faint galaxies, or clustering of low-redshift galaxies. These findings indicate that the detected fluctuation could be attributed to the first stars of the universe, i.e., Population III stars.
The Japanese infrared (IR) space mission AKARI monitored the brightness in the fields very close to the north ecliptic pole (NEP) with nine wavebands in Infrared Camera (IRC), which cover the wavelength range from 2 to $24{\mu}m$. We reduced the NEP monitor observations and examined the smoothness of the sky background brightness. Our analysis shows that the background brightness is smooth over a frame of about $10'\times10'$ within about 0.1% deviation in mid-IR. Because the zodiacal light (ZL) and emission (ZE) dominate the diffuse sky brightness in the near- and mid-IR wavelengths, the background brightness varies with season through a year. We tried sinusoidal fittings to the observed NEP background brightness. The fitting analysis shows that the sine function is successful in describing the seasonal variation of the ZL and ZE within 2% deviations from the observed brightness, especially for the 15, 18, and $24{\mu}m$ bands, within 0.3%. These results will provide limits and caveats for the studies of the cosmic infrared background radiation.
We present the sensitivity calculation results for observing the Cosmic Infrared Background (CIRB) by the Multi-purpose IR Imaging System (MIRIS), which will be launched in 2010 as a main payload of the Science and Technology Satellite 3 (STSAT-3). MIRIS will observe in I ($0.9{\sim}1.2um$) and H ($1.2{\sim}2.0um$) band with a $4{\times}4$ degree field of view to obtain the large scale structure (${\sim}3$ degree) of the CIRB. With the given specifications of the MIRIS, our sensitivity calculation results show that the MIRIS has a detection limit of ${\sim}9\;nW\;m^{-2}\;sr^{-1}$ (I band) and ${\sim}6\;nW\;m^{-2}\;sr^{-1}$ (H band), which is appropriate to observe the large scale structure of CIRB.

This paper describes an advanced prototype of voltage-fed zero voltage soft-switching PWM resonant inverter with an active voltage clamped capacitor, which is put into practice for high-frequency high-power induction-heated appliances. This application-specific quasi-resonant inverter using the latest generation IGBTs for soft-switching can regulate its output power under a principle of a fixed frequency ZVS-PWM strategy. Its operating principle and unique features are presented as compared with a conventional quasi-resonant ZVS inverter for induction-heated cooker, together with its power regulation characteristics on the basis of its simulation and experimental results. The steady-state performances of this inverter developed for multi-burner type induction-heated food cooking appliance are evaluated and discussed from a practical point of view.
We present the smoothness of mid-infrared sky brightness from the Japanese infrared astronomical satellite, AKARI observations. AKARI monitored the north ecliptic pole (NEP) during its cold phase with nine wavebands from 2.4 to 24 ${\mu}m$, out of which six mid-infrared bands are used in this study. Simple sinusoidal fit to the seasonal variation of the sky brightness shows that the mid-infrared brightness towards the NEP is not affected by small-scale features of the interplanetary dust cloud. We applied the power spectrum analysis to the images to search for the fluctuation of sky brightness. The fluctuation powers at 200 arcsecond are estimated to be at most $1.58{\pm}0.33\;nW\;m^{-2}sr^{-1}$ or 0.13% of the total brightness at $7{\mu}m$ and a tleast $0.64{\pm}0.11\;nW\;m^{-2}sr^{-1}$ or 0.02% at $18{\mu}m$. The residual fluctuations at a few arcminute scales at short mid-infrared wavelengths (7, 9, and 11 ${\mu}m$) are consistent with those expected from the diffuse galactic light. At long mid-infrared wavelengths (15, 18, and 24 ${\mu}m$) the measured fluctuations are comparable to or smaller than the one caused by photon noise and their sources are not identified. We conclude that the upper limit of the fluctuation in the zodiacal light is about 0.02% of the sky brightness.
Visible-light irradiation of MeCN solution containing di(hydroxo)metallo(tetraphenyl)porphyrin complex $(tppM(OH)_2$: 1a; $M=Sb(V)^+Br^-$, 1b; $M=P(V)^+Cl^-$, 1c; M=Ge(IV)) and 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME) as a substrate under aerated condition gave bis(2-hydroxyethyl)disulfide (2-HEDS) as an oxidative product of 2-ME. It is indicated that the oxidation of 2-ME should proceed with a photocatalytic process by 1, because the turn over number (TON) for the formation of 2-HEDS was over unit. The TON was determined to be 642 as a maximum value when 1a was used as a sensitizer. The formation of 2-HDES was extremely slow under argon atmosphere. The fluorescence of 1 was not quenched by 2-ME at all, and the free energy change (${\Delta}G$) with electron transfer (ET) from 2-ME to excited triplet state of $1(^31^*)$ was estimated as a negative value. The quenching rate constant ($k_r$) of $^31^*$ by 2-ME, obtained by the kinetics for the formation of 2-HEDS, strongly depends on ${\Delta}G$. These findings indicate that 1-sensitized oxidation was initiated by photoinduced ET from 2-ME to $^31^*$ to generate both radical cation of 2-ME ($2-ME^{+\bulle}$) and porphyrin radical anion ($1^{-\bulle}$), resulting that the formation of 2-HEDS can be proceeded by the dimerization of $2-ME^{+\bulle}$, and through a catalytic cycle due to returning to 1 by the ET from $1^{-\bulle}$ to molecular oxygen.
Background: Factors predictive of survival have been identified in Western patients with metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (mCCRCC) treated with sunitinib. Less is known, however, about factors predictive of survival in Japanese patients. This study evaluated factors prognostic of survival in Japanese patients with mCCRCC treated with first-line sunitinib. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study evaluated 46 consecutive Japanese mCCRCC patients treated with sunitinib as first line therapy. Clinical and biochemical markers associated with progression-free survival (PFS) were analyzed, with prognostic factors selected by uniand multivariate Cox regression analyses. Results: Univariate analysis showed that factors significantly associated with poor PFS included Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center poor risk scores, International Metastatic RCC Database Consortium poor risk and high (>0.5 mg/dl) serum C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations (p<0.001 each). Multivariate analysis showed that high serum CRP was independently associated with poorer PFS (p=0.040). Six month disease control rate (complete response, partial response and stable disease) in response to sunitinib was significantly higher in patients with normal (${\leq}0.5mg/dl$) than elevated baseline CRP (p<0.001). Conclusions: CRP is a significant independent predictor of PFS for Japanese patients with mCCRCC treated with first-line sunitinib. Pretreatment CRP concentration may be a useful biomarker predicting response to sunitinib treatment.
