English segments adopted into Korean can be divided into three types: Some English segments /$m, {\;}n, {\;}{\eta}, {\;}p^h, {\;}t^h, {\;}k^h$/ are adopted into the original sound [$m, {\;}n, {\;}{\eta}, {\;}p^h, {\;}t^h, {\;}k^h$] in Korean. Other segments /b, d, g/ appear in the voiceless stop form [p, t, k]. Generative Phonology explains the presence of the above English segments in Korean but it cannot explain why the English segments /$f, {\;}v, {\;}{\Theta}, {\;}{\breve{z}}, {\;}{\breve{c}}, {\;}{\breve{j}}$/ disappear during the adopting process. I present a set of universal constraints from the Optimality Theory proposed by Prince and Smolensky(l993) and I show how English segments differently adopted into Korean can be explained by these universal constraints such as Faith(feature). N oAffricateStop, Faith(nasal), NoNasalStop, Faith(voice), NoVoicedStop and the interaction of these constraints. I conclude that this Optimality Theory provides insights that better capture the nature of the phonological phenomena of English segments in Korean.
Transition state structures were calculated for A and M routes of ${\omega}$-alkenyl radical cyclization (n = 2∼4) using MINDO/3-RHF method. Results of our analysis of HOMO level changes indicated that the transition state stability is not controlled by the decoupling effect alone as Bischof suggested, but in greater degree it is determined by through-bond interaction of the HOMOs with the framework $HO-{\sigma}$ or $LU-{\sigma}^*$ orbitals. In case of larger n (n > 4), the product stability was considered to be the main cause of M route dominance in the cyclization.
Ab initio calculations were performed on systems containing various basic ${\pi}$ fragments and glycines to generalize the ${\pi}$-nonbonded interaction (${\pi}$-NBI) method of determining relative conformational and configurational stability of organic molecules. It was found that the relative stability of conformational isomers can be determined in general by the simple application of the ${\pi}$-NBI method, but the method is not applicable to the geometrical isomerism in which stronger structural factors are involved. The ${\pi}$-NBI effect of a crowded ${\pi}$-structure ($n{\pi}/m$) is maximum for the system in which n is equal to m. In crowded structures containing heteroatoms, ${P^{\pi}}_{ij}$ values of 4N+1 system may become negative, but this sign reversal does not invalidate the predictions based on the ${\pi}$-NBI method.
This work concerns the stabilization of uninfected steady state of an ordinary differential equation system modeling the interaction of the HIV virus and the immune system of the human body. The control variable is the drug dose, which, in turn, affects the rate of infection of $CD4^{+}$ T cells by HIV virus. The feedback controller is constructed by a variant of the receding horizon control (RHC) method. Simulation results are discussed.

This paper deals with a dynamic modeling of artillery system loaded by gun charge explosion during firing condition. Geometric and elastic gun data are used to modify a projectile interaction model. The maximum impact force on gun barrel was 15,000 N and the gun barrel moved about 1.3 m. A cannon bal] was presented to travel in the flexible gun, the traveling distance was about 23,000 m, and the angular velocity was about 10rad/sec. The artillery dynamic system using the multi-body dynamics enables us to obtain the data for the fatigue analysis.

Vapor-liquid equilibrium apparatus is designed and set up. The vapor-liquid equilibrium data of the binary system HFC32/134a are measured in the range between 258.15 and 283.15K at compositions of 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 mole fraction of HFC32. Twenty-two equilibrium data are obtained. Based upon the present data, the binary interaction parameter for Carnahan-Starling-De Santis equation of state is calculated. Temperature range of data is extended to 313.04K using the data in the open literatures. Interaction parameters are determined at nine isotherms.
This paper describes the construction of a laminar box for simulating the earthquake response of soil and structures. The confinement of soil in the transverse direction does not rely on the laminar frame but is instead achieved by two acrylic glass walls. These walls allow the behaviour of soil during an earthquake to be directly observed in future study. The laminar box was used to study the response of soil with structure-footing-soil interaction (SFSI). A single degree-of-freedom (SDOF) structure and a rigid structure, both free standing on the soil, were utilised. The total mass and footing size of the SDOF and rigid structures were the same. The results show that SFSI considering the SDOF structure can affect the soil surface movements and acceleration of the soil at different depths. The acceleration developed at the footing of the SDOF structure is also different from the surface acceleration of free-field soil.

A cable-stayed bridge (CSB) is one of the most complicated structures, especially when subjected to earthquakes and taking into consideration the effect of soil-structure-interaction (SSI). A CSB of a 500 m mid-span was modeled by the SAP2000 software and was subjected to four different earthquakes. To mitigate the harmful effect of the vibration generated from each earthquake, four mitigation schemes were used and compared with the non-mitigation model to determine the effectiveness of each scheme, when applying on the SSI or fixed CSB models. For earthquake mitigation, tuned mass damper (TMD) systems and spring dampers with different placements were used to help reduce the seismic response of the CBS model. The pylons, the mid-span of the deck and the pylon-deck connections are the best TMDs and spring dampers placements to achieve an effective reduction of the earthquake response on such bridges.
In general, an impeller of centrifugal turbomachinery is designed at isolated condition without considering the presence of a volute, but when the impeller is operating with its volute, the performance of impeller can be different. This is largely caused by the interaction between the impeller and volute flow fields. The magnitude of distortion is increased as the operating point is away from the design point and, as a result, the interaction between the impeller and volute is stronger. In the present calculation, the flow through the impeller is simulated using coarse grids. The flow within the impeller and the volute is naturally unsteady, but the flow is assumed to be steady across the interface between the volute and impeller flow fields. Under the assumption of steady three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flow, the time averaged N-S equations involving standard k-$\epsilon$ turbulent model was solved by the F.V.M. The calculation results are compared with the experimental results obtained for an industrial fan by Sakai etc. and the Hood agreement is demonstrated. And the effects of the impeller-volute interaction are studied.
The coordination of pyridyl-N to pentacyanoferrate for the detection of small organic antigens in solution is presented. The unique contribution of this paper is the direct conjugation of pyridyl-N in small organic antigens to pentacyanoferrate. Pentacyanoferrate is promising as an electrochemical label owing to its good electro-chemical properties, which can be utilized to generate an electrical signal in homogeneous electrochemical immunoassays. The facilely synthesized pyridyl-N to pentacyanoferrate was characterized by the electrochemical and spectroscopic methods. Hippuric acid (HA) has been detected competitively on the interaction of free HA and pentacyanoferrate-(4-aminomethylpyridine-hippuric acid) (Fe-HA) to its antibody, with the detection limit of 0.50 ${\mu}g\;mL^{-1}$. While pentacyanoferrate-based immunoassay is in its simplicity and infancy, the proposed immunoassay offers attractive opportunities for developing pyridyl-N-based the electrochemical detection of small organic antigens in the health care area.
