충청북도 영동군 민주지산지역 들메나무군집 식생구조 (The Vegetation Structure of Fraxinus mandshurica Community in Mt. Minjuji, Youngdong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do)

  • 들메나무군집의 식생구조를 밝히기 위하여 민주지산지역의 해발 700~1,100m 사이 계곡부에 10m*10m 면적의 조사구 20개를 설정, 조사하였다. 전체 조사구에 대해 classification 기법중 TWINSPAN을 이용한 결과 6개의 군집으로 분리되었으며, 각 군집별로 종조성을 살펴본 결과 민주지산 지역의 들메나무군집은 신갈나무군집에서 천이가 진행되어 온 것으로 판단되며, 까칩가달, 고로쇠나무, 층층나무 등이 부수종을 이루고 있으나 경쟁수종이 형성되어 있니 장ㄴㅎ아 토지극상림으로 판단되었다. 흉고직경급별분석에서 들메나무는 전층위에서 고르게 출현하고 있고, 군집이 안정되어 있어 종다양도(Shannon's index 0.72~0.82)가 낮게 나타났으며, 각 조사구당 평군종수는 11.0종, 평균개체수는 111.5주였다.

Emulsifying and Gelling Properties of Pork Myofibrillar Protein as Affected by Various NaCl Levels and pH Values

  • The effects of various NaCl levels (0, 0.3, and 0.6 M) and pH values (pH 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, and 6.5) on the emulsifying and gelling properties of pork myofibrillar protein (MP) were assessed. The emulsion stability index (ESI), emulsifying activity index (EAI), and creaming index were measured at a 1:20 ratio of MP to corn oil. The EAI and ESI of pork MP showed maximum values at pHs 6.0 and 6.5 and at 0.3 M NaCl, resulting in better emulsion properties. Additionally, the cooking yield (CY) and gel strength (GS) of emulsified MP gel were measured at an MP: corn oil ratio of 1: 2; GS increased with increasing levels of salt. At 0.6 M NaCl, GS decreased with decreasing pH from 5.5 to 6.5. GS and gelling properties were optimal at pH 5.5 in 0.6 M salt. The highest CY was observed at 0.6 M NaCl, regardless of the pH value. However, increasing pH increased CY at salt levels of 0 and 0.3 M. These results indicate that NaCl and pH profoundly affected the emulsified MP system. Future work will be conducted on the rheological properties of the pork emulsified system as affected by adding non-meat protein.

여대생의 허리둘레, 허리둔부 둘레비와 체질량지수 비고 (The Comparison of Waist Circumference, Waist to Hip Ratio and Body Mass Index in Female College Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to validate waist circumference (WC) and waist to hip ratio (WHR) corresponding to body mass index (BMI) of $25kg/m^2$ and to survey the prevalence of hypertension according to obesity in female college students. Method: Weight, height, waist and hip circumferences and blood pressure were measured for each of 286 female college students in J City, Chungbuk. Results: The subjects' mean BMI was $21.4kg/m^2$, and the estimated prevalence of obesity was 11.2%. The subjects, the 80th-90th percentile of whom had BMI exceeding $25kg/m^2$, were found to have WC of 75-78.1 cm and WHR of 0.79-0.80, respectively. Of the subjects with obesity($BMI{\geq}25kg/m^2$), 53.1% exhibited abdominal obesity ($WC{\geq}80cm$) and 40.6% had WHR over 0.80. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were correlated with BMI, WC, and WHR. The prevalence rate of hypertension in subjects with obesity($BMI{\geq}25kg/m^2$) was 25%. Additionally, the prevalence rate of hypertension in subjects with abdominal obesity ($WC{\geq}80cm$) was 39.1%. Conclusions: Our study indicates that WC corresponding to BMI of $25kg/m^2$ in female subjects in their twenties is different from that of adult women. We also found that the prevalence rate of hypertension in subjects with abdominal obesity was high. Therefore. we suggest further studies to determine the cutoff value of WC for evaluating abdominal obesity and to investigate the long-term effects of obesity on women in their twenties.

연소실 압력변동이 화염안정화와 배출특성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of changing Combustor Pressure on Flame Stabilization and Emission Charncteristics)

  • Influence of changing combustor pressure on flame stabilization and emission index in the swirl-stabilized flame was investigated. The combustor pressure was controlled by suction fan at combustor exit. Pressure index ($P^{\ast}$=Pabs/Patm), where Pabs and Patm indicated the absolute pressure and atmosphere pressure, respectively, was controlled in the range of 0.7${\sim}$1.3 for each equivalence ratio conditions. The flammable limits of swirl flames were largely influenced by changing combustor pressure and they showed similar tendency with laminar flames. NOx emission index decreased with decreasing pressure index for overall equivalence ratio conditions. R.m.s. of pressure fluctuations is increased with decreasing combustor pressure. This flame fluctuation caused incomplete combustion, hence CO emission index increased. These oscillating flames were measured by simultaneous $CH^{\ast}$ chemiluminescence time-series visualization and pressure fluctuation measurement.

Results and implications of the damage index method applied to a multi-span continuous segmental prestressed concrete bridge

  • Identification of damage location based on modal measurement is an important problem in structural health monitoring. The damage index method that attempts to evaluate the changes in modal strain energy distribution has been found to be effective under certain circumstances. In this paper two damage index methods using bending strain energy and shear strain energy have been evaluated for numerous cases at different locations and degrees of damage. The objective is to evaluate the feasibility of the damage index method to localize the damage on large span concrete bridge. Finite element models were used as the test structures. Finally this method was used to predict the damage location in an actual structure, using the results of a modal survey from a large concrete bridge.

국가철도안전지표 개발 방안 연구 (Development of Railway Safety Index in Korea)

  • In order to establish railway long-tenn safety policy, various railway safety indexes are required. But these indexes are not use efficiently due to the limitation of safety information. Recently m any safety related information have been obtained based on Railway Safety Act 2004. In this study, various safety index, which can be applied both preventive safety activities and safety measure development, are proposed. These safety indexes are based on common safety index in European Railway Agency, but also include special index in Korea. Proposed safety index include accident results, precursors to accident, infrastructure, accident cost and safety management system. These indexes will be applied in railway industry from 2009.

온라인 고조파 해석 지수의 개발 (On-line Harmonic Distortion Index for Power Quality Assessment)

  • This paper introduces a new online index to quantify the harmonic distortion. The proposed index based on VI product can represent the harmonic distortion of both voltage and current, and it includes the effect of interharmonic distortion. Also, the new index is suitable to online harmonic distortion evaluation since it only requires the r.m.s. (root mean square) value and fundamental frequency value of the signals. Case studies are presented to show the availability of the proposed index using the comparison with the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion).

Dynamic Relationship between Stock Prices and Exchange Rates: Evidence from Nepal

  • This paper investigates the linkages between returns both in foreign exchange and stock markets, and uncertainties in two markets using daily data for the period of 16 July 2004 to 30 June 2014 in Nepalese economy. Four hypotheses are tested about how uncertainty influences the stock index and exchange rates. From the empirical results, a bivariate EGARCH-M model is the best to explain the volatility in the two markets. There is a negative relationship from the exchange rates return to stock price return. Empirical results do provide strong empirical confirmation that negative effect of stock index uncertainty and positive effect of exchange rates uncertainty on average stock index. GARCH-in-mean variables in AR modeling are significant and shows that there is positive effect of exchange rates uncertainty and negative effect of stock index uncertainty on average exchange rates. Stock index shocks have longer lived effects on uncertainty in the stock market than exchange rates shock have on uncertainly in the foreign exchange market. The effect of the last period's shock, volatility is more sensitive to its own lagged values.

한우 간 및 등심 조직에서 불포화지방산의 조성비율과 Stearoyl-CoA Desaturase mRNA의 발현 양상 (Relationship between Monounsaturated Fatty Acid Composition and Stearoyl-CoA Desaturase mRNA Level in Hanwoo Liver and Loin Muscle)

  • 쇠고기내의 oleic acid(18:1)의 힘량은 고기의 향미와 다즙성에 영향올 미치며, 그 함량이 높으면 혈중 콜레스테롤을 낮출 수 있는 요인이 된다. 본 연구는 한우의 간 조직과 등심 조직에서 불포화지방산의 조성과 불포화지방산 합성효소의 mRNA 발현량의 차이를 비교분석하여 그 상호 관련성에 대해 조사하였다. 단일불포화지방산인 palmitoleic acid(16:1)와 oleic acid (18:1)의 조성은 등심 조직에서 총 지방산의 51%를 차지하고 있었으나, 지방대사가 활발한 간 조직에서는 22%에 지나지 않았다. 반면에 포화지방산인 palmitic acid(16:0) 와 stearic acid (18:0)의 조성비는 등심 조직과 간 조직에서 각각 37%와 58%'를 차지하였다. 이같이 단일불포화지방산의 조성은 조직간 현격한 차이가 나타나며, 조직내 stearoyl-CoA desaturase(SCD) 활성을 나타내는 포화지방산에 대한 불포화지방산의 비율인 불포화도(the desaturation index)를 살펴보면 등심 조직은 간 조직보다 약 3.6배 높았다. SCD는 palmitic acid(16:0) 와 stearic acid(18:0)를 기질로 하여 palmitoleic acid(16:1)와 oleic acid (18:1)로 전환하는 중요한 효소이다. 등심 조직과 간 조직에서 단일 불포화지방산의 조성비 차이가 SCD mRNA 의 발현량과 어떤 관련성을 가지는지를 RT PCR 법을 이용하여 분석되었다. 그 결과, SCD mRNA는 등심 조직에서 간 조직보다 약 3배 많이 발현되었다. 이상과 같이 한우 등섬 조직과 간 조직에서 단일불포화지방산의 조성의 현격한 치아는 SCD 활성지표인 지방산의 불포화도(3.6배 차이)와 SCD mRNA 발현량(3배 차이)과 상호 밀접한 관련성으로 해석할 수 있었다.
