  • Arctosa yasudai (Tanaka, 2000) and Pardosa isago Tanaka, 1977 belonging to Lycosidae were captured by pitfall trap in rice field and apple orchard during the intensive survey of arthropod fauna of agricultural ecosystem in Korea. Taxonomic descriptions for two species are presented with diagnostic illustration.

  • Pardosa pseudolaevitarsis n. sp. and Hygrolycosa umidicola Tanaka, 1978 belonging to Lycosidae are described from Korea. To date, fourteen species in the genus Pardosa C. L. Koch, 1847 have been described from Korea. H. umidicola belongs to Hygrolycosa Dahl, 1908 was once described from Korea, but the previous description of this species could not provide adequate scientific evidence for adding H. umidicola to the Korean spider fauna. Pardosa pseudolaevitarsis n. sp. is similar to P. laevitarsis Tanaka & Suwa, 1986 in the shape of its epigyne and palp, but can be distinguished by the followings: epigynal atrium small; spermathecae extending to the end of atrium; shape, location and orientation of fertilization duct in epigyne and internal genitalia; blunt basal spur of median apophysis in palp; number, shape and arrangement cheliceral teeth on both margins. Both species were collected using pitfall traps on a ridge between rice fields and seem to prefer habitats with relatively high humidity.

  • Three wolf spiders of the family Lycosidae Sundevall, 1833 are newly described from Korea: Arctosa labiata Tso & Chen, 2004, Pardosa altitudis Tikader & Malhotra, 1980, and Pardosa laevitarsis Tanaka & Suwa, 1986. These spiders were collected during a seasonal survey of the spider fauna of National Parks located in Gangwon-do and Gyeongsanbuk-do in 2018-2019; two males of A. labiata from Mt. Songnisan National Park, one female of P. altitudis from Mt. Chiaksan National Park, and two males of P. laevitarsis from Mt. Odaesan and Sobaeksan National Parks. The three newly recorded spiders have previously been known to be distributed in Taiwan, India, China, and Japan. These spiders were collected by hand in mixed forest leaf litter in mountainous terrains. The present paper taxonomically describes these three wolf spiders with measurements and morphological illustrations.

  • The distribution of spiders on paddy Holds in the suburbs of Kwangju city and the seasonal fluetuation of their population were surveyed for two years from November 1975 to November 1977. The results obtained are summarized as fallows: 1. The total number of species of the spiders on paddy fields collected in Kwangju area was 38 which belong to 24 genera and 13 families. Out of these 16 species were already known to exist in this area, and two other species were those known to occur in Korea. The remaining 22 species were new collections among which Cornicularia vulgaris 01 was the one with no record of collection in Korea. 2. The spiders on paddy fields collected in this area were mostly those belonging to two families i.e. Erigonidae and Lycosidae, and predominating species were Gnathenarium dantatum(WJDER) and Oedothorax insecticeps BOES. et STR. 3. The population density was highest in November just before wintering and lowest in March and April after wintering and an intermediate peak in July and August.
