세라믹 메탈할라이드 램프의 아크튜브 구조에 따른 광학적 특성 (Optical Properties with Arc Tube Structure of Ceramic Metal-Halide Lamps)

  • High intensity metal halide discharge lamp performance, specifically the generated luminous flux and light color content, depends critically on the arc tube design. Factors influencing the design and consequent lamp efficacy include : lamp size, geometry, arc tube composition, fill chemistry, electrode design and excitation modes. Shaping of Polycrystalline Alumina(PCA) can be realized by conventional ceramic processes. Several processes are applied nowadays. Well-known in the ceramic high pressure field for decades are the pressing and the extrusion method. Newly developed slurry and precious forming technologies give the one-body seamless tubes, which improve thickness uniformity and lighting performance. Now, we reported some optical properties with different arc tube structures of ceramic metal halide lamps.

이륜차 전조등 검사기준 및 검사방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Inspection Standards and Methods of Two-Wheeled Motorcycle Headlight)

  • This paper has presented the headlight inspection standards and methods of two-wheeled motorcycles considering Korean Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (KMVSS), Korean Motor Vehicle Inspection Standards (KMVI) and the inspection standards of the International Motor Vehicle Inspection Committee (CITA). As a result of analyzing the headlight luminous intensity test result with fixed inspection equipment, 21% does not meet the inspection standard proposed in this study, and 33.3% in mobile inspection equipment does not meet. The average luminous intensity of motorcycle less than 50 cc is 8,340 cd, so all the lightweight small sized motor cycles do not meet the proposed headlight inspection standard.

  • 본 논문에서는 형광등 on/off 제어 및 조도를 전력선 통신을 이용하여 원격으로 제어할 수 있는 시스템을 설계하고자 하였다. 각각의 조명기기를 전력선으로 구성되는 네트워크를 구현하였으며 원격 제어 및 조명기기의 on/off 및 조도를 제어하기 위하여 서버를 구성하고 서버에서 각각의 크라이언트를 제어할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 기존 on/off 시스템을 디지털화하여 에러율을 감소시켰으며 회로를 단순화하는데 주안점을 두었다.

  • Recently, the eletrodeless lamp is introduced as a new light source of a high efficacy and long life. Although eletrodeless lamp's size is large, most of them is applied to general luminaire for HID lamps. It causes to decrease eletrodeless lamp's efficacy. Therefore, refractor luminaires can be an option to maintain efficacy, so that reflector luminaires are developed for such lamps. The purpose of this study is to develope a optical numerical model of planar prism luminaire that is able to obtain various luminous intensity distributions.

Analysis of Arc Tube Properties by Degradation in Ceramic Metal Halide Lamp

  • To clarify the relations of optical properties to the main factors responsible for the loss and damage of luminous efficacy, a 20 min turn-on/turn-off test for 2,000 h for a ceramic metal halide lamp is conducted. The corrosion rates of the arc tube wall and electrode are estimated based on thermal stress. Wall blackening is attributed to the tungsten being transported from the hot electrode tips to the relatively cold arc tube wall. Furthermore, the grain boundaries of the arc tube are changed by the degradation. Distortion of the electrode is observed, and the ignition and the driving voltage of the load both increase. Finally, the color rendering index and the color coordinates are changed after the degradation. The luminous flux and the intensity of the luminous distribution are decreased significantly.

  • 광속구(integrating sphere photometer), 분광기(monochromator)등을 이용하여 노랑색(Y), 녹색(G), 백색(W)의 SMD(surface mounted device)형태의 HB LED(high brightness light emitting diode)에 대한 광속(luminous flux, LF), 상관 색온도(correlated color temperature, CCT), CIE 색도좌표(chromaticity coordinate CC)등 광특성을 실험하여 그 결과치를 비교 분석하였고, 백색 LED에 대해서는 연색지수를 고찰하였다.

  • 항공장애등이란 비행 중인 조종사에게 건축물이나 위험물의 존재를 알리기 위해 사용되는 등화를 말한다. 현재 대부분의 항공장애등의 광원은 발광다이오드(light-emitting diode, LED)로 대체되었고, 급격하게 확장 및 보급되었으나, 설치된 항공장애등이 광학적 성능 기준을 충족하지 못하여 항공 수송기기의 충돌 사고를 유발하고 있으며, 이러한 이유로 항공 안전상의 위험에 노출되어 있는 실정이다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 연구에서는 $360^{\circ}$ 방향에서 동일한 광도 분포를 가지고, LED 광원에서 나오는 광선을 좁은 빔(beam) 발산각으로 시준할 수 있는 프레넬 렌즈(fresnel lens)를 각각의 비구면 조각의 집합 (array) 형태로 설계를 하였다. 그 후에, 렌즈 기울기(tilt), LED와 프레넬 렌즈 사이의 거리를 최적화하여 중심 광도 20,000 cd, $3^{\circ}$ 이상의 수직 빔 발산각을 구현하는 항공장애등 광학계 설계와 시뮬레이션을 진행하였다.

  • Platforms of many railroad stations are crowded with passengers regardless of the time throughout day. But the intensity of illumination of the existing lightening systems are so low enough to make passengers feel inconvenience in using platforms. Consequently there exists high possibility of accidents in platforms of low illumination. Hence, for the safety and convenience of passengers, it is necessary to improve the luminous intensity of lightening system for platforms. This paper points out the problems of existing system and presents the method to improve it.

Enhanced Electrical Properties of Light-emitting Electrochemical Cells Based on PEDOT:PSS incorporated Ruthenium(II) Complex as a Light-emitting layer

  • Ionic Transition Metal Complex based (iTMC) Light-emitting electrochemical cells (LEECs) have been drawn attention for cheap and easy-to-fabricate light-emitting device. LEEC is one of the promising candidate for next generation display and solid-state lighting applications which can cover the defects of current commercial OLEDs like complicated fabrication process and strong work-function dependent sturucture. We have investigated the performance characteristics of LEECs based on poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly (styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS)-incorporated transition metal complex, which is tris(2, 2'-bipyridyl)ruthenium(II) hexafluorophosphate in this study. There are advantages using conductive polymer-incorporated luminous layer to prevent light disturbance and absorbance while light-emitting process between light-emitting layer and transparent electrode like ITO. The devices were fabricated as sandwiched structure and light-emitting layer was deposited approximately 40nm thickness by spin coating and aluminum electrode was deposited using thermal evaporation process under the vacuum condition (10-3Pa). Current density and light intensity were measured using optical spectrometer, and surface morphology changes of the luminous layer were observed using XRD and AFM varying contents of PEDOT:PSS in the Ruthenium(II) complex solution. To observe enhanced ionic conductivity of PEDOT:PSS and luminous layer, space-charge-limited-currents model was introduced and it showed that the performances and stability of LEECs were improved. Main discussions are the followings. First, relationship between film thickness and performance characteristics of device was considered. Secondly, light-emitting behavior when PEDOT:PSS layer on the ITO, as a buffer, was introduced to iTMC LEECs. Finally, electrical properties including carrier mobility, current density-voltage, light intensity-voltage, response time and turn-on voltages were investigated.

LED 항해등의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Fabrication of LED Navigation Lights)

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated LED navigation lights which can replace the existing ones immediately and overcome disadvantages due to use of conventional lamps. To decide the best arrangement and position of a LED module, optical systems of existing navigation lights were analyzed and refracted routes of rays were simulated. The electrical and optical characteristics of the fabricated LED navigation lights were measured and analyzed with a goniophotometer. To calculate ranges of visibility, the vertical and horizontal luminous intensity distributions were evaluated in accordance with the COLREGs (convention on the international regulation for preventing collisions at Sea). From the results, the proposed LED navigation lights showed suitable characteristics for marine environment with the power consumption reduced by 90% and the maximum luminous intensity increased by 20% compared to the existing navigation lights.
