Effects of heat treatment and substrates on luminescent characteristics of $ZnGa_O_4:Mn$ thin film phosphor (열처리조건과 기판이 $ZnGa_O_4:Mn$ 박막 형광체의 발광특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The green emitting phosphor, $ZnGa_2O_4:Mn$ thin film with spinel structure were deposited by rf magnetron sputtering. Thin film phosphors were heat-treated in nitrogen, vacuum and air atmosphere, respectively. The effects of the substrates, heat-treatment conditions and the sputtering parameters were investigated. The growing behavior and luminescent properties of thin films depend on the crystallinity of the substrates. The Ga/Zn atomic ratios and luminescent characteristics were dependent on the annealing conditions.

  • Electroluminescent(EL) devices based on organic thin films are considered to be one of the next generation of flat-panel displays. In this paper, we have investigated electro-luminescent(EL) characteristics of organic EL device using $Alq_3$, PBD as emitting material. Current and luminance can be seen that express a similar relativity in voltage and could know that luminance is expressing current relativity.

  • Recently, microcavity is studied to reduce the optical loss of BLU and OLED. In this paper, we suggest applying microcavity to photo-luminescent lamp with plasma discharge technology to meet the display applications for a BLU for LCD. The structure of photo-luminescent lamp consists of SUS foil and ITO glass with microcavity. The opto-electric characteristics of photo-luminescent lamp with microcavity was evaluated. The brightness of photo-luminescent device was increased over $111cd/m^2$ with the adaptation of patterned microcavity at $30{\mu}m$. The 3D optical simulation verified the enhanced light outcoupling when microcavity applied to the device.

Luminescent Characteristics of SrS:CuCl Thin-Film Electroluminescent(TFEL) Devices on CuCl Concentrations (CuCl 농도에 따른 SrS:CuCl 박막 전계발광소자의 발광특성)

  • The SrS:CuCl TFEL devices were fabricated by electron-beam deposition and the luminescent characteristics of the fabricated SrS:CuCl TFEL devices were studied. The SrS powder was used as the host materials and 0.05 ~ 0.6 at% of CuCl powder was added as the luminescent center. The deposition conditions of substrate temperature, electron beam current, and deposition rate were 500 $^{\circ}C$ , 20 ~ 40 mA, and 5 ~ 10 /sec, respectively The total thickness of the phosphor layer deposited was 6000 . The blue emission at low CuCl concentrations was observed from the luminescent centers of monomer, dimer, trimer, and tetramer, The bright greenish blue emission at high CuCl concentrations was observed from the dimer and trimer luminescent centers. The maxium luminance was observed from the SrS:CuCl TFEL devices doped with 0.2 at% of CuCl concentration and the threshold voltage, luminance(L$_{40}$ ), efficiency(η$_{20}$) and CIE coordinate obtained were 55 V, 728 cd/$m^2$, 0.49 lm/w, and (0.21, 0.33), respectively..

Preparation and Luminescent Characteristics of Phosphate-Based Phosphors (포페이트계열 형광체의 합성 및 광특성 평가)

  • In order to search new phosphors for plasma display panel(PDP), phosphate hosts which has a host excitation band at around 150nm were prepared and their luminescent properties were investigated. In the preparation of $YPO_4: Eu\; and\; (Y,Gd)PO_4: Eu$ phosphors, the effect of oxide and oxalate starting materials on prepared phosphors were compared in terms of relative emission intensities and particle characteristics. The results showed that oxalate starting materials gave better performance in emission intensities and smaller size and more round shape phosphors which would be more applicable for high resolution display. Additionally, Gd, V, Nb and Ta ions were doped to $YPO_4:Eu$ and the luminescent properties of the resulant solid solutions were investigated to find efficient sensitizer. Among these ions, Gd, V and Nb ions increased the emission intensities of parent phosphor to around 10%. While Nb ion gave the best result in emission intensities, CIE color coordinate were improved by doping V ion into $YPO_4:Eu$ phosphor to give x=0.6523, y=0.3406 compared to commercial sample.

  • Organic electroluminesencent device have been studied because of its easy fabrication and high brightness for plate panel display instead of CRT and LED. There are some device structure for full color filter system can be applicable to the full color application if the blue light organic electroluminesencent device(OELD) is developed.   • New luminescent material, 6.11-dihydoxy-5.12-naphtacene-dione $Alq_3$ complex($Alq_2$-Ncd), 1.4-dihydoxy-5.8-naphtaquinone $Alq_3$ complex ($Al_2Nq_4$) was synthesized. The $Alq_2-$ Ncd and $Al_2Nq_4$ has big molecular weight and many ${\pi}$-electrons more than widely known $Alq_3$. And extended efforts have been made to obtain high-performance electro luminescent(EL) devices. We used hole transfer layer of powdered TPD to improve hole transfer and characteristics of interface in OLED. This study indicates not only the sterical effect but also some other effects that would be responsible for the change of the emission wavelength. improvement of luminance and etc.

Fabrication of $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ Nano Phosphor and Optical Characteristics for High Resolution Radiation Imaging (고해상도 방사선 영상을 위한 $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ 나노 형광체 제조 및 광학적 특성)

  • In this paper, we have synthesized $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ nano phosphor particle using a low temperature solution-combustion method. We have investigated the structure and the luminescent characteristic as the sintering temperature and europium concentration. From XRD(X-ray diffraction) and SEM(scanning electron microscope) results, we have verified that the phosphor particle was fabricated a spherical shape with $30{\sim}40nm$ particle size. From the photoluminescence results, the strong peak exhibits at 611 um and the luminescent intensity depends on europium concentration. $Gd_2O_3:Eu$ fine phosphor particle has shown excellent luminescent efficiency at 5 wt% of europium concentration. The phosphors calcinated at $500^{\circ}C$ have possessed the x-ray peaks corresponding to the cubic phase of $Gd_2O_3$. As calcinations temperature increased to $700^{\circ}C$, the new monoclinic phase has identified except cubic patterns. From the luminescent decay time measurements, mean lifetimes were $2.3{\sim}2.6ms$ relatively higher than conventional bulk phosphors. These results indicate that $Gd_2O_3:Eu$ nano phosphor is possible for the operation at the low x-ray dose, therefore, the application as medical imaging detector.

Variations and types of high-tech fashion (하이테크(High-Tech) 패션의 변화 및 유형)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze changes in high-tech fashion along with the types and characteristics of high-tech fashion that have appeared recently providing diverse material for the fashion field. High-tech fashion requires such research to learn how much distance one has in one's life. It is also meaningful to predict what direction high-tech fashion research may be needed. For research methods, previous research and literary studies were considered and photographs in which high-tech techniques were used were collected using the keyword 'high-tech fashion'. High-tech fashion types can be organized into the four types of luminescent types, mutual interaction types, 3D printing fashion, and virtual fashion. The research results were as follows. First, luminescent fashion was an important expression method of high-tech fashion. Materials for luminescent fashion first started with LED electric wire connections and many methods have been attempted with the appearance of electrically conductive clothing material, such as luminescent lasers and beam projectors. Second, interactive high-tech fashion often appears as variable fashion. The work of Hussein Chalayan, which was combined with advanced technology, set up a base for variable type interactive high-tech fashion in the 2000s. As bioengineering technology has developed, fashion that interacts with the environment without an energy source has appeared and the interaction among fashion, people, and the environment can be seen. Third, diverse forms of expressiveness in virtual reality such as 3D CLO shows a great difference with past high-tech fashion. Simple and diverse attempts made through virtual fittings reduce the limitations of time and space, permit interaction, and add a sense of reality through speed and dynamic physical beauty. Fourth, 3D printed fashion expresses complex and detailed clothing material that is different from those before with the development of computer 3D modeling technology. Modeling that can imitate geometric and bio-engineered structures is possible and mysterious feelings are passed on to people through creative expressions.
