In this study, zinc tin oxide (ZTO) films were prepared on indium tin oxide (ITO) glasses and annealed at different temperatures under vacuum to investigate the correlation between the Ohmic/Schottky contacts, electrical properties, and bonding structures with respect to the annealing temperatures. The ZTO film annealed at $150^{\circ}C$ exhibited an amorphous structure because of the electron-hole recombination effect, and the current of the ZTO film annealed at $150^{\circ}C$ was less than that of the other films because of the potential barrier effect at the Schottky contact. The drift current as charge carriers was similar to the leakage current in a transparent thin-film device, but the diffusion current related to the Schottky barrier leads to the decrease in the leakage current. The direction of the diffusion current was opposite to that of the drift current resulting in a two-fold enhancement of the cut-off effect of leakage drift current due to the diffusion current, and improved performance of the device with the Schottky barrier. Hence, the thin film with an amorphous structure easily becomes a Schottky contact.

In Recent, it became necessary to develope the technology about electrodeless fluorescent lamp according to demand of the electodeless fluorescent lamp system that used higher efficiency and advantage of long-lifetime. Especially, in the electordeless fluorescent lamp which used H-mode, efficiency of lamp is decided from matching parameter of antena and inverter. So it is of the utmost importance to design antena and inverter Therefore, this paper used a transformer principle for efficiency rising of electrodeless fluorescent lamp and interpreted an equivalent circuit, used an impedance analyzer in order to confirm a performance enhancement of lamp along design of antenna, and confirmed parameter characteristic of R, L, C, Z, Q-factor along a change of magnetic flux density. Also, this paper confirmed a luminance characteristic of electordeless lamp along parameter change with measuring optical characteristic along a change of magnetic flux density
Oxygen plasma has been treated on the surface of indium-tin-oxide (ITO) to improve the efficiency of the organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) device. The plasma treatment was expected to inject the holes effectively due to the control of an ITO work-function and the reduction of surface roughness. To optimize the treatment condition, a surface resistance and morphology of the ITO surface were investigated. The effect on the electrical properties of the OLEDs was evaluated as a function of oxygen plasma powers (0, 200, 250, 300, and 450 W). The electrical properties of the devices were measured in a device structure of ITO/TPD/Alq3/BCP/LiF/Al. It was found the plasma treatment of the ITO surface affects on the efficiency of the device. The efficiency of the device was optimized at the plasma power of 250 W and decreased at higher power than 250 W. The maximum values of luminance, luminous power efficiency, and external quantum efficiency of the plasma treated devices increase by 1.4 times, 1.4 times, and 1.2 times, respectively, compared to those of the non-treated ones.
Digital halftoning is a process to produce a binary image so that the original image and its binary counterpart appear similar when observed from a distance. Among digital halftoning methods, error diffusion is a procedure for generating high quality bilevel images from continuous-tone images but blurs the edge information in the bilevel images. To solve this problem, we propose the improved error diffusion using local spatial information of the original images. Based on the fact that the human vision perceives not a pixel but local mean of input image, we compute edge enhancement information(EEI) by appling the ratio of a pixel and its adjacent pixels to local mean. The weights applied to local means is computed using the ratio of local activity measure(LAM) to the difference between input pixels of 3$\times$3 blocks and theirs mean. LAM is the measure of luminance changes in local regions and is obtained by adding the square of the difference between input pixels of 3$\times$3 blocks and theirs mean. We add the value to a input pixel of quantizer to enhance edge. The performance of the proposed method is compared with conventional methods by measuring the edge correlation. The halftone images by using the proposed method show better quality due to the enhanced edge. And the detailed edge is preserved in the halftone images by using the proposed method. Also the proposed method improves the quality of halftone images because unpleasant patterns for human visual system are reduced.

Over the past several years, Colloidal core/shell type quantum dots lighting-emitting diodes (QDLEDs) have been developed for the future of optoelectronic applications. An inverted-type quantum-dot light-emitting-diode (QDLED), employing low work function organic material polyethylenimine ethoxylated(PEIE) (<10 nm)[1] modified ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) as electron injection and transport layer, was fabricated by all solution processing method, instead of electrode in the device. The PEIE surface modifier incorporated on the top of the ZnO NPs film, facilitates the enhancement of both electorn injection into the CdSe-ZnS QD emissive layer by lowering the workfunction of ZnO from 3.58eV to 2.87eV and charge balance on the QD emitter. In this inverted QDLEDs, blend of poly (9,9-di-n-octyl-fluorene-alt-benzothiadiazolo) and poly(N,N'-bis(4-butylphenyl)-N,N'-bis(phenyl)benzidine] are used as hole transporting layer (HTL) to improve hole transporting property. At the operating voltage of 7.5 V, the QDLED device emitted spectrally orange color lights with high luminance up to 11110 cd/m2, and showed current efficiency of 2.27 cd/A.[2]
Self assembled monolayers (SAM) are generally used at the anode/organic interface to enhance the carrier injection in organic light emitting devices, which improves the electroluminescence performance of organic devices. This paper reports the use of SAM of 1-decanethiol (H-S(CH2)9CH3) at the cathode/organic interface to enhance the electron injection process for organic light emitting devices. Aluminum (Al), tris-(8-hydroxyquionoline) aluminum (Alq3), N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3 -methylphenyl)-1,1'- diphenyl-4,4'-diamine (TPD) and indium-tin-oxide (ITO) were used as bottom cathode, an emitting layer (EML), a hole-transporting layer (HTL) and a top anode, respectively. The results of the capacitancevoltage (C-V), current density -voltage (J-V) and brightness-voltage (B-V), luminance and quantum efficiency measurements show a considerable improvement of the device performance. The dipole moment associated with the SAM layer decreases the electron schottky barrier between the Al and the organic interface, which enhances the electron injection into the organic layer from Al cathode and a considerable improvement of the device performance is observed. The turn-on voltage of the fabricated device with SAM layer was reduced by 6V, the brightness of the device was increased by 5 times and the external quantum efficiency is increased by 0.051%.
Retinex algorithm enhances the contrast of image through visibility improvement. However, the conventional Retinex methods may produces color distortions due to error of hue representation and over-saturation since the methods work in RGB color space. In this paper, we propose a new Retinex algorithm with color correction, which improves contrast by using MSR(Multi-Scale Retinex) working in YCbCr color space and adaptively compensates the color saturation based on the maximum color difference table. Our algorithm maps the color difference signals to the correct gamut to prevent over-saturation phenomenon by considering the correlation between luminance and hue dependent saturation. Simulations results show that the proposed method gives better color improvement compared to the conventional methods.

A back light unit (BLU) is a key module of a thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD), frequently utilized in various mobile displays. In this study, we experimentally characterize transcription and optical properties of concave and convex microlens arrays (MLAs) of light guide plate (LGP) fabricated by injection molding with polycarbonate as a LGP substrate material. Nickel mold inserts were manufactured by electroforming on the MLA which was fabricated by the thermal reflow of photoresist microstructures patterned by UV-photolithography. For the case of convex microlens, the height of replicated microlens was less than that of the mold insert while maintaining almost the same microlens diameter of the mold insert as the location of the microlens is far from the gate. In contrast, for the concave microlens, the diameter of replicated microlens was larger than that of mold insert, while showing almost the same microlens height as the mold insert. From the optical examination of replicated convex and concave MLAs, it was found that a higher luminance of the LGP was achieved by the concave MLAs compared to the convex MLAs (about 30% enhancement in this case)due to the utilization of a larger amount of light provided by the light sources.
High-dynamic-range (HDR) rendering technology changes the range from the broad dynamic range (up to 9 log units) of a luminance, in a real-world scene, to the 8-bit dynamic range which is the common output of a display's dynamic range. One of the techniques, iCAM06 has a superior capacity for making HDR images. iCAM06 is capable of making color appearance predictions of HDR images based on CIECAM02 and incorporating spatial process models in the human visual system (HVS) for contrast enhancement. However there are several problems in the iCAM06, including obscure user controllable factors to be decided. These factors have a serious effect on the output image but users get into difficulty in that they can't find an adequate solution on how to adjust. So a suggested model gives a quantitative formulation for user controllable factors of iCAM06 to find suitable values which corresponds with different viewing conditions, and improves subjective visuality of displayed images for varying illuminations.
Raw files record luminance values corresponds to each pixel of a digital camera sensor. In digital imaging, controlling exposure to capture the first highlight stop is important on linear-distribution of raw file characteristic. This study sought to verify the efficiency of ETTR method and found the optimum over-exposure amount to maintain the first highlight stop to be the largest number of levels. This was achieved by over-exposing a scene with a raw file and converting it to under-exposure in a raw file converting software. Our paper verified the efficiency of ETTR by controlling the exposure range and ISOs. Throughout the results, if exposure increases gradually 6 steps, dynamic range is also increased. And it shows that the optimized exposure value is around + $1\frac{2}{3}$ stop over compared to the normal exposure with the high ISOs simultaneously. We compared visual noise value at $1\frac{2}{3}$ stop to the normal exposure visual noise. Based on the normal exposure's visual noise, we can confirm that visual noise decrement is increased by increasing ISOs. In this experimental result, we confirm that overexposure about + $1\frac{2}{3}$ stop is the optimum value to make the widest dynamic range and lower visual noise in high ISOs. Based on the study results, we can provide the effective ETTR information to consumers and manufacturers. This method will contribute to the optimum image performance in maximizing dynamic range and minimizing noise in a digital imaging.
