마이크로 버블 발생장치와 결합된 오일 플러싱 장치 개발 (Development of Oil Flushing System with Microbubble Generator)

  • This paper reports the development of an oil flushing system combined with a microbubble generator. Oil flushing plays a crucial role in regulating the lubricant's performance during the lubricant replacement process. Moreover, harmful contaminants, such as sludge, wear particles, and rust, from piping systems or lubrication system can be removed by oil flushing. Oil flushing aims to increase the system's efficiency using a dedicated flushing oil, increasing of the supply pressure and generating a vortex. In addition, it helps the mechanical system or equipment achieve peak performance and reduces the potential for premature failure. However, the contaminant-removal applications of existing oil flushing system are limited. In this research, we aim to improve the performance of oil flushing system by incorporating a microbubble generator, which uses the venture effect to generate microbubbles and mixes them with lubricant. The microbubbles in the blended lubricant remove contaminants from the lubrication system more effectively. Structural mechanics and fluid dynamics are analyzed through fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analysis, and the numerical analysis results are used for the designing the system. The magnitude of the maximum stress is investigated based on the pressure results obtained by the CFD analysis; through the CFD analysis, the mixing ratio of air (bubble) and lubricant is evaluated using the volume of fluid (VOF) model according to the working conditions.

$WS_2$ 고체윤활제의 마찰.마모 거동 (Tribological Behaviour of $WS_2$Solid Lubricant)

  • The $WS_2$ solid lubricant synthesized through the vapour phase transport method was coated on the commercial bearing steel (SUJ 2) substrate, and the tribological behaviour of the lubricant was investigated using a ball-on-disk type tester. The $WS_2$ powder was spray-coated at room temperature using compressed air, and the change of friction coefficient was examined in various conditions, i.e., specimen configuration, atmosphere (air and nitrogen), applied load and rotating speed. $WS_2$ coated ball and disk showed the optimum friction coefficient of 0.07 and wear life of 45,000 cycles in the nitrogen atmosphere under 0.3 kgf and 100 rpm, whereas relatively high coefficient of 0.13 and reduced wear life of 4,000 cycles were observed in air atmosphere. The effect of rotating speed on the friction coefficient was not observed both in nitrogen and in air atmospheres. This confirmed that the spray-coated $WS_2$ solid lubricant was effective in reducing the friction coefficient and improving wear life in nitrogen atmosphere, and the oxygen and moisture existing in air could seriously deteriorate the lubrication effect of $WS_2$ coating layer.

윤활제 및 표면 거칠기에 따른 베벨기어의 온간단조 성형성 평가 (Evaluation of Formability for Warm Forging of The Bevel Gear on The Lubricants and Surface Roughness)

  • In the hot forging process lubricant influences on frictional condition only, but in the warm forging process it influence on the formability such as dimensional accuracy, filling state and frictional condition and it is important to estimate a lubricating characteristic of lubricants in the warm forging. In this paper, in order to evaluate the formability of billet in warm forging process according to the lubricant and lubricating method, lubricant and lubricating test have been performed using oil-based and water-based lubricant which were widely used in the hot and warm forging processes. The surface roughness of initial billet was measured to evaluate the influence on the formability of billet and the forming load and dimensional accuracy were compared and evaluated. From the experimental results, it can be known that water-based lubricants are more excellent than oil-based lubricants for warm forging of complex shape like a bevel gear. Also, in this study characteristics of deformation have been investigated according to surface treatment of initial billet.

냉간단조용 친환경 수용성 윤활제의 개발 (Development of Environmentally Friendly Water-Soluble Lubricant for Cold Forging)

  • Zinc phosphate coating is required in nearly all steel cold forging operations. However, the chemical byproducts of this lubricant system are difficult to dispose of and have a negative environmental impact. In order to replace zinc phosphate based lubricants partially or completely, candidate lubricant has been developed in this study. The performance evaluation of these lubricants was conducted using the double cup extrusion test and spike forging test. With the use of the commercial FEM code DEFORM, friction factor calibration curves, i.e. cup height ratio vs. punch stroke and spike height vs. punch stroke, were established for different friction factor values. By matching the cup height ratio and the punch stroke and spike height vs. punch stroke from experiment to that obtained from FE simulations, the friction factor of the lubricants was determined. Three water-soluble lubricants; namely, Mec Homat, Royalcoat, and the developed lubricant were found to perform comparable to or better than zinc phosphate.

AZ80 압출재를 이용한 고온단조 윤활특성 분석 (Study on the Lubrication Characteristics at the Elevated Temperature in Hot Forging Test with Extruded AZ80 Mg Alloy)

  • This paper demonstrates the lubricant performance in T-shape hot forging of Mg alloys. This processes induces complex plastic material flow of the initial billet such as simultaneous compression and extrusion deformations. Five lubricants with different amounts of graphite are applied to the T-shape forging at temperatures of 300 and $350^{\circ}C$. As the amount of graphite in the lubricant increases, the extruded depth gradually increases, which improves hot forgeability for Mg alloys. However, the lubricant performance decreases as forging temperature increases from 300 to $350^{\circ}C$. As the punch stroke increases, forgeability is considerably influenced by the lubricant. Thus, the selection of lubricants in hot forging of Mg alloys is critical when plastic deformation is severe.

Characteristics of Wasted Lubricant Degradation by Acinebobacter lwoffii 16C-1

  • 216 microorganisms which able to degrade wasted lubricant were isolated in the region of contaminated with wated lubricant such automobile repair shops, garages and gas stations in Taejon. Most activated strain among them is selected and used in this research. The microorganism in identified as Acinetobacter lwoffii 16C-1, which shows active growth and hydrocargon utilization withnormal alkane such as tetradecane, hexadecane and octadecane, and do not grow aromatic hydrocargons, cycloalkane, and branched alkane. In addition, A. lwoffii 16C-1 has resistance to heavy metals such as Ba, Li, Cr, and Mn more than 6.4mg/ml, and showed negligible tolerance against antibiotics. Effects of environmental conditions including concentration of wasted lubricnt, pH, NaCl concentration, nitrogen source and phosphate on microorganism growth and emulsification were studied. 2% of wasted lubricant, pH 7.0, 0-1% of NaCl, 0.2% of peptone, and 0.01% of K2HPO4 is turn out to be optimum condition. By the analysis of remaining oils, almost of hydrocarbons added to the media are removed by A. lwoffii 16C-1 at 30$^{\circ}C$ after 2 days of culture, which showed excellent oil degradation characteristics.

윤활유 유래 철도오염 토양의 정화 타당성 연구 (Feasibility study on remediation for railway contaminated soil with waste-lubricant)

  • 철도의 토양오염은 크게 총석유계탄화수소(total petroleum hydrocarbon, TPH)에 의한 오염과 중금속류에 의한 오염으로 구분할 수 있다. 이중 TPH 오염은 디젤과 윤활유에 의해서 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 철도 윤활유 유래 오염토양을 정화하기 위해 토양세척방법, 화학적 산화법, 초음파 추출법의 타당성을 연구하였다. 디젤 유래 오염 토양의 토양세척에 많이 사용되는 비이온성 계면활성제는 윤활유 유래 오염 토양의 정화에는 효과적이지 않았다. 다양한 종류의 알코올과 계면활성제를 함께 사용한 경우, 계면활성제만 사용한 경우보다 효과적이었다. 따라서 TPH 오염 철도 토양의 TPH의 오염원에 따라 다른 방법을 적용하는 것이 정화효율을 높일 수 있다.

탄소 나노소재를 이용한 윤활유 기반 나노유체의 제조 및 평가 (Preparation and Characterization of Lubricating Oil-based Nanofluids Containing Carbon Nanoparticles)

  • Lubricant-based nanofluids were prepared by dispersing carbon nanoparticles in gear oil. In this study, the effects of the particle size, shape and dispersity of the particles on the tribological properties of nanofluids were investigated. Dispersion experiments were conducted with a high-speed bead mill and an ultrasonic homogenizer, and the surfaces of the nanoparticles were simultaneously modified with several dispersants. The effective thermal conductivity of the nanofluids was measured by the transient hot-wire method, and the tribological behaviors of the nanofluids were also investigated with a disk-on-disk tribo-tester. The results of this study clearly showed that the combination of the nanoparticles, the deagglomeration process, the dispersant and the dispersion solvent is very important for the dispersity and tribological properties of nanofluids. Lubricant-based nanofluids showed relatively low thermal conductivity enhancement, but they were highly effective in decreasing the frictional heat that was generated. For nanofluids containing 0.1vol.% graphite particles in an oil lubricant, The friction coefficient in the boundary and fluid lubrication range was reduced to approximately 70% of the original value of pure lubricant.

  • Axial pressing process를 이용하여 31RE-68TM-1B(RE : 희토류원소, TM: 3d천이금속) 조성을 갖는 소결자석을 제조함에 있어서 Casting process와 Lubricant 변화에 따른 잔류자속밀도 변화를 조사하였다. 출발합금 제조방법으로서 Strip casting process는 $\alpha$-Fe 편석없이 미세하고, 균일한 microstructure를 얻기에 용이한 잇점이 있었으며, Jet mill 이후 균일한 입도의 분말을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한, Jet mill 전후에 적절한 분말 혹은 무수알콜과 같은 Lubricant를 첨가함으로써 잔류자속밀도를 향상시킬 수 있었다. 본 실험에서는 Strip casting 및 분말 Lubrican인 Zn-st(Zinc stearate)에 첨가에 의한 분말입도분포 개선효과와 무수알콜에 의한 배향율 향상효과를 접목하여 잔류자속밀도, 보자력 및 최대자기에너지적이 각각 13.1 kG, 13.5 kOe 및 39.5 MGOe인 경자기특성이 얻어졌다.

다이아몬드 마이크로 블레이드 제조에 있어 부피비의 관점에서 본 윤활제 첨가 효과 (Effect of Lubricant Addition in Terms of Volume Fraction on Fabrication of Cu/Sn Bonded Diamond Micro Blades)

  • The effect of $MoS_2$ and graphite content on wear resistance and mechanical properties of Cu/Sn bonded diamond micro blades was comparatively investigated in terms of volume and weight fraction. For the evaluation of endurance and cutting performance, instantaneous electric power consumption and cumulative wear loss during cutting glass work piece at constant velocity were measured with the micro blades of the wide range of lubricant content. The energy consumption of blades for glass cutting decreased with the content of lubricants. Wear amount of blade in volume increased with the amount of lubricant addition. It was found to be relevant to the decrease in flexural strength and hardness with the amount of lubricants. With the same amount of lubricant content in volume fraction $MoS_2$ showed superiority in mechanical properties and cutting performance than graphite while graphite could result in stronger effect on lowering electric consumption during cutting work piece for the same weight percent fraction than $MoS_2$ because of lower density.
