  • In this paper, we propose a new blind watermarking method that embeds a watermark on the lowest wavelet subband coefficients, while most watermarking techniques embed watermarks in the middle frequency range for robustness and fidelity. A new embedding algorithm for watermarking is proposed that embeds a bi-level watermark sequence into randomly selected wavelet coefficients on the lowest subband(LL) using a quantization in order to be robust. Experimental results prove our novel embedding strategy is invisible and good rate-distortion-robustness performance.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient motion estimation algorithm which can reduce computational complexity by using characteristics of wavelet coefficient in each subband while keeping about the same image quality as in using MRME(multiresolution motion estimation). In general, because of the high similarity between consecutive frames, we first decide whether the motion exists or not by just comparing MAD(mean absolute difference) between blocks with threshold in the lowest subbands of consecutive two frames. If it turns out that there is no motion in the lowest subband, we can also decide no motion exists in the higher subband. This is due to the characteristics of wavelet transform. Conversely, if we find any motion in the lowest subband, we can reduce computational complexity by estimating high subband motion vectors selectively according to the amount of computational complexity by estimating high subband motion vectors selectively according to the amount of energy in that subband. Experimental results are shown that algorithm suggested in this paper maintains about the same PSNR as MRME. However, the processing time was reduced about 30-50% compared with the MRME.

  • There are many Problems such as low detection ratio, velocity and increase of false hit ratio on the detection of gradual scene changes with the previous shot transition detection algorithms. In this paper, we Propose an improved dissolve detection method using color information on low-frequency subband and edge elements on high-frequency subband. The Possible dissolve transition are found by analyzing the edge change ratio in the high-frequency subband with edge elements of each direction. Using the double chromatic difference on the lowest frequency subband, we have the improvement of the dissolve detection ratio. The simulation results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than the conventional one for dissolve detection on a diverse set of uncompressed video sequences.

  • In this paper, we proposed a wavelet-based digital watermarking algorithm using human visual system and subband-adaptive threshold. After the original image is transformed using discrete wavelet transform(DWT), the perceptually significant coefficients of the each subband excluding the lowest level subbands are utilized to embed the watermark. To select perceptually significant coefficients, we use subband-adaptive threshold. For the selected coefficients, the watermark is embedded by rising HVS. We tested the performance of the proposed algorithm compared with conventional watermarking algorithm by computer simulation. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the conventional algorithm.

  • In this paper, an effective image restoration using Genetic Algorithm(GA) in wavelet transform region is proposed. First, a wavelet transform is used for decomposition of a blurred image with white Gaussian noise as a preprocessing of the proposed method. The wavelet transform decomposes a degraded image into a wavelet subband coefficient planes. In this wavelet transformed subband coefficient planes, three highest subbands is composed entirely of noise elements on a degraded image. So, these subbands are removed. And remained subbands except for the lowest subband are individually applied to GA. For the performance evaluation, the proposed method is compared with a conventional single GA algorithm and a conventional hybrid method of wavelet transform and GA for a Lenna image and a boat image. As an experimental result, the proposed algorithm is prior to a conventional methods as each PSNR 3.4dB, 1.3dB.

  • An image data compression method for a digital VCR must satisfy special requirements such as high speed playback. various edting capabilities and error concealment to provide immunity to tape dropouts. Taking these requirements requirements into consideration, this paper proposes a new interframe subband coding algorithm for a digital VCR. In the proposed method, continuous input images are fist partitioned into four frequency bands. The lowest frequency subband is coded with 3-D block adaptive quantization that removes the level redundancy within each level. The other higher frequency subbands are coded by an intraframe coding method using the property of the human visual system. To keep reasonable image quality in high speed palyback, a segment forming method in the frequency domaing is also proposed Computer simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has the potential of achieving virtually lossless compression in normal play and produces an image with less mosaic errors in high speed play.

  • In this paper, digital watermarking method using quad-tree algorithm and the lowest frequency band is proposed. The proposed algorithm searches the coefficient of the watermark by using quad-tree algorithm and inserts the watermark by the Cox's algorithm. The simulation of the proposed algorithm is implemented about the effect of various weight factors in Cox's algorithm, that of embedding watermark in each subband coefficient (HH, LH, HL), and that of embedding in the lowest frequency band (LL). As a simulation result, the bigger weight factors in Cox's algorithm show strong to noise. The watermarking performance of simultaneously embedding in HH, LH, and HL band is better than that of different cases. In addition, insertion the watermark to the LL band about $30{\sim}60%$ of all watermarks improves the watermarking performance in comparison with the case of not using the LL band.

  • A wavelet-based digital watermarking algorithm is proposed that uses the successive subband quantization and human visual system (HVS). After an original image is decomposed into 4-level by the discrete wavelet transform, perceptually significant coefficients (PSC) of each subband excluding the lowest level subband are utilized to embed the watermark. PSC of the baseband ate chosen according to their amplitude and they are slightly modified to embed the watermark by a conventional embedding method. By the successive subband quantization, PSC of the high frequency subband are chosen and slightly modified according to the HVS. We tested the performance of the proposed algorithm compared with the conventional watermarking algorithm by computer simulation. Experimental results show that the proposed watermarking algorithm produces a better invisibility and robustness than the conventional algorithm.

  • This paper presents a new demosaicking method based on weighted sum in the wavelet domain. In our method, the missing wavelet coefficients in lowest frequency subband are obtained by weighted sum. Since detail coefficients have large values at the edge region, these values are used as weighting factors. Detail coefficients are replaced by the coefficients in the corresponding subbands. Experimental results show that the proposed method generates good performance.
