In order to increase the usability of H2-SCR, the NOx removal characteristics with catalyst powder of PtNi/CeO2-W-TiO2 using Ce as a co-catalyst was synthesized and coated on a porous metal structure (PMS) were evaluated. Catalyst powder of PtNi/CeO2-W-TiO2(PtNi nanoparticles onto W-TiO2, with the incorporation of ceria (CeO2) as a co-catalysts) was synthesized and coated onto a porous metal structure (PMS) to produce a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst. H2-SCR with CeO2 as a co-catalyst exhibited higher NOx removal efficiency compared to H2-SCR without CeO2. Particularly, at a 10wt% CeO2 loading ratio, the NOx removal efficiency was highest at 90℃. As the amount of catalyst coating on PMS increased, the NOx removal efficiency was improved below 90℃, but it was decreased above 120℃. When the space velocity was changed from 4,000 h-1 to 20,000 h-1, the NOx removal efficiency improved at temperatures above 120℃. It was expected that the use of the catalyst could be reduced by applying the PMS with excellent specific surface area as a support.
DME is acronym of dimethyl ether, which is spotlighted as an ideal fuel to produce hydrogen due to its high hydrogen/carbon ratio, high energy density and easiness to carry. In this research, we calculated thermodynamic hydrogen (or syngas) yield from DME autothermal reforming and compared to other fuels. The reforming efficiency was about 80% above $700^{\circ}C$. Lower OCR has higher reforming efficiency but, it requires additional heat supply since the reactions are endothermic. SCR has no significant effect on the reforming efficiency. The optimized condition is $700^{\circ}C$, SCR 1.5, OCR 0.45 without additional heat supply. Comparing to other commercial gaseous fuels (methane and propane), DME has higher selectivity of $H_2O$ and $CO_2$ than the others due to the oxygen atom in the molecule. To apply DME autothermal reforming to real system, a proper catalyst is required. Therefore, it is performed the experiment comparing various novel metal catalysts based on CGO. Experiments were performed at calculated condition. The composition of product was measured and reforming efficiency was calculated. The catalysts have similar efficiency at high temperature(${\sim}800^{\circ}C$) but, CGO-Ru has the highest efficiency at low temperature ($600^{\circ}C$).
SCR420H steel is a low-carbon chromium alloy steel designed for carburizing heat treatment. Recently, research is being conducted on high-temperature carburization heat treatment to reduce costs and CO2 emissions by shortening the carburization time to meet the international carbon neutral policy. However, this high-temperature carburization heat treatment coarsens the steel grains and causes a decrease in mechanical properties. In this study, a large amount of Ti was added to increase the grain refinement effect in the high-temperature carburizing process. We investigated the microstructure and precipitates of SCR420H steel without Ti (Al steel) and with Ti (AlTi steel). Thermodynamic calculations showed that the AlN and (Ti,Nb)(C,N) precipitated in Al steel, while (Ti,Nb)(C,N) and Ti4C2S2 precipitated in AlTi steel. Addition of Ti increases the fraction of bainite after reheating process. Transmission electron microscopy analysis shows that small amounts of AlN and (Ti,Nb)(C,N) precipitates are formed in the Al steel. The addition of Ti increases the density of (Ti,Nb)(C,N) precipitates and induces the formation of Ti4C2S2 precipitates, increasing the grain coarsening temperature (GCT) under all heat treatment conditions. Higher reheating temperatures also resulted in higher GCT values due to increased precipitation.

Urea solution as a reductant of SCR has been widely used to reduce NOx emissions from diesel engine. But it has lots of problems which are freezing at low temperature due to liquid state, deposition of solid formation in the exhaust, dosing device, and complex package such as mixers for uniform concentration of ammonia. In order to overcome these obstacle, ammonium carbonate which is one of solid ammonium materials to produce ammonia gas directly by sublimation process is considered. Simple reactor with visible widow was designed to predict equilibrium temperature and pressure of ammonium carbonate. To simulate real operation conditions under automobile environment, several cycles of heating and cooling condition were settled, two different re-solidification materials were extracted from the reactor and visible window. Analytical study is performed to characterize these unknown materials by XRD(X-Ray Diffraction), FT-IR(Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), and EA(Elemental Analyzer). From analytical results, re-solidification materials from heating and cooling cycles are very similar to original material of ammonium carbonate.

Solid materials of ammonia sources with SCR have been considered for the application of lean NOx reduction in automobile industry, to overcome complex problems of liquid urea based SCR. These solid materials produce ammonia gas directly with proper heating and can be packaged by compact size, because of high volumetric ammonia density. Among ammonium salts and metal ammine chlorides, calcium ammine chloride was focused on this paper due to low decomposition temperature. In order to make calcium ammine chloride in lab-scale, simple reactor and glove box was designed and built with ammonium gas tank, regulator, and sensors. Basic test conditions of charging ammonia gas to anhydrous calcium chloride are chosen from equilibrium vapor pressure by Van't Hoff plot based on thermodynamic properties of materials. Synthetic method of calcium ammine chloride were studied for different durations, temperatures, and pressures with proper ammonia gas charged, as a respect of ammonia gas adsorption rate(%) from simple weight calculations which were confirmed by IC. Also, lab-made calcium ammine chloride were analyzed by TGA and DSC to clarify decomposition step in the equations of chemical reaction. To understand material characteristics for lab-made calcium ammine chloride, DA, XRD and FT-IR analysis were performed with published data of literature. From analytical results, water content in lab-made calcium ammine chloride can be discovered and new test procedures of water removal were proposed.
Selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen monoxide by hydrogen ($H_2$-SCR of NO) over platinum catalysts impregnated on zirconia-incorporated silica ($ZrO_2-SiO_2$) and manganese oxide ($MnO_x$) was investigated. $Pt-MnO_x$ catalyst showed low conversions and low yields of $N_2O$ and $NO_2$ at $100{\sim}350^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, NO conversions over $Pt/ZrO_2-SiO_2$ were very high, but $N_2O$ was predominantly produced at $100-150^{\circ}C$ and the yield of $NO_2$ increased with temperature at $200-300^{\circ}C$, resulting in poor $N_2$ yields. $Pt-MnO_x/ZrO_2-SiO_2$ exhibited a small enhancement in $N_2$ yield at $100-150^{\circ}C$ due to the synergy of $MnO_x$ and $ZrO_2-SiO_2$. The surface composition and oxidation state of the catalyst components and the acidity of the catalysts were examined. IR spectra of the adsorption of NO and their subsequent reactions with hydrogen on these catalysts were also recorded. The variations of conversion and product yield according to the catalyst components in the $H_2$-SCR of NO were discussed in relation to their catalytic roles.

Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with ammonia was carried out over the physical mixture of $MnO_2$ and K or Cu-loaded activated carbons (AC) at low temperature. Introduction of oxygen affected positively the reduction of NO. Metal-impregnated AC showed significantly enhanced catalytic activity. Without water, the mixed catalyst of $MnO_2$ and K-loaded AC exhibited the best activity in the reduction of NO at $120^{\circ}C$. On the contrary, the activities of all the catalysts were significantly diminished in the presence of water. The mixed catalyst of $MnO_2$ and Cu-loaded AC treated with nitric acid and heat (1 : 1, w/w) exhibited the better activity for the reduction of NO than each single catalyst in presence of water.

The effects of various manganese precursors for the low-temperature selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of $NO_x$ were investigated in terms of structural, morphological, and physico-chemical analyses. $MnO_x/TiO_2$ catalysts were prepared from three different precursors, manganese nitrate, manganese acetate(II), and manganese acetate(III), by the sol-gel method. The manganese acetate(III)-$MnO_x/TiO_2$ catalyst tended to suppress the phase transition from the anatase structure to the rutile or the brookite after calcination at $500^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. It also had a high specific surface area, which was caused by a smaller particle size and more uniform distribution than the others. The change of catalytic acid sites was confirmed by Raman and FT-IR spectroscopy and the manganese acetate(III)-$MnO_x/TiO_2$ had the strongest Lewis acid sites among them. The highest de-NOx efficiency and structural stability were achieved by using the manganese cetate(III) as a precursor, because of its high specific surface area, a large amount of anatase $TiO_2$, and the strong catalytic acidity.
The effect of the addition of Cu on the catalytic activity of the $Mn/CeO_2-ZrO_2$ catalyst for the low-temperature SCR reaction of NO was investigated. Three different amounts of Cu, 5, 10, and 15 wt%, were impregnated on the $Mn/CeO_2-ZrO_2$ catalyst. The characteristics of the synthesized catalysts were examined by BET, XRD, XPS, and $H_2-TPR$ analyses. The de-NOx efficiency of the Cu-added catalysts increased with the amount of Cu. When 15 wt% Cu was impregnated, the deNOx efficiency was the highest, reaching as high as 99%. The increased deNOx efficiency is attributed to the enhanced reducing power stemming from the interaction between Mn and Cu on the catalyst surface.

A bag filter system was partially burnt down during a trial run of waste wood incineration boiler. This brought about unburned hydrocarbon which caused a rapid deactivation of low temperature SCR catalyst set up in two stage after the bag filter. The deactivated catalyst was investigated in order to trace the origin by several characterization methods such as XRD, EDX, BET, TGA, SEM. The deactivated catalyst was regenerated by different methods such as acid washing, water washing in ultrasonication, and calcination treatment under air condition. It is found the calcination treatment under air condition at $450^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours to be the best regeneration method. The catalytic activity was measured in the form of 2 cm ${\times}$ 2 cm ${\times}$ 10 cm (catalyst weight 10 g) honeycomb type. A deNOx efficiency of the regenerated catalyst showed 100% at $180^{\circ}C$ which is the same level of fresh one.
