  • We have fabricated poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) : poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT : PSS) thin films using a slotdie coater for the applications of OLED lightings. It is demonstrated that the properties of slot-die coated PEDOT : PSS films are comparable with those of spin-coated ones. Namely, the average and peak-to-peak roughness of the slot-die coated 50-nm-thick PEDOT : PSS film are measured to be as low as 0.247 nm and 1.3 nm, respectively. Moreover, we have obtained excellent thickness uniformity (~1.91%). With the slot-die coated PEDOT : PSS films, we have fabricated green phosphorescent OLED devices. For comparison, we have also fabricated OLED devices with spin-coated PEDOT : PSS films. Both show almost no discrepancy in device performance. The power efficiency (25.4 lm/W) and emission uniformity (77%) of OLEDs with slot-die coated PEDOT : PSS films are shown to be slightly lower than those (27.3 lm/W, 80%) of OLEDs with spin-coated PEDOT : PSS films at the luminance of 1,000nit, increasing the feasibility of using a slot-die coating process for the fabrication of large-area OLED lighting sources at a competitive price.

  • Purpose: Rapid detection of bacteria is very important in agricultural and food industries to prevent many foodborne illnesses. The objective of this study was to develop a portable nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)-based system to detect foodborne pathogens (E. coli). This study was focused on developing a method to detect low concentrations of magnetic nanoparticles using NMR techniques. Methods: NMR relaxometry was performed to examine the NMR properties of iron nanoparticle mixtures with different concentrations by using a 1 T permanent magnet magnetic resonance imaging system. Exponential curve fitting (ECF) and inverse Laplace transform (ILT) methods were used to estimate the NMR relaxation time constants, $T_1$ and $T_2$, of guar gum solutions with different iron nanoparticle concentrations (0, $10^{-3}$, $10^{-4}$, $10^{-5}$, $10^{-6}$, and $10^{-7}M$). Results: The ECF and ILT methods did not show much difference in these values. Analysis of the NMR relaxation data showed that the ILT method is comparable to the classical ECF method and is more sensitive to the presence of iron nanoparticles. This study also showed that the spin-spin relaxation time constants acquired by a Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) pulse sequence are more useful for determining the concentration of iron nanoparticle solutions comparwith the spin-lattice relaxation time constants acquired by an inversion recovery pulse sequence. Conclusions: We conclude that NMR relaxometry that utilizes CPMG pulse sequence and ILT analysis is more suitable for detecting foodborne pathogens bound to magnetic nanoparticles in agricultural and food products than using inversion recovery pulse sequence and ECF analysis.

  • The chemical behavior of the trivalent lanthanide$(Pr^{3+}, Eu^{3+}, Gd^{3+} 그리고 Yb^{3+})$complexes with organo-ligand (2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedione) has been investigated by the use of UV/Vis-spectrophotometric, magnetics, and electrochemical method. The two or three energy absorption bands are observed by the spectra of these complexes. The magnetitude of crystal field splitting energy, the spin pairing energy and bond stength was obtained from the spectra of the complexes. These are found to be localization, low-spin (or high-spin state, and strong bonding strength. The magnetic dipole moment are found to be diamagnetic complexes (or paramagnetic). The electrochemical behavior of complexes was observed by the use of cyclic voltammetry in aprotic media. These reduction peaks were irreversible two and three step reduction processes by electron transfer.

  • Unidirectional magnetic anisotropy field ($H_an$) was investigated for thin films of $CdCr{2-2x}In_{2X}Se_4 (0$\leq$x$\leq$0.2). This anisotropy originates from the microscopic anisotropic Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction which arise from the spin-orbit scattering of the conduction electrons by the nonmagnetic impurities. This interaction maintains the remanent magnetization in the direction of the initial applied field. Then the single easy direction of the magnetization is parallel to the direction of the magnetic field. The anisotropy produced by field cooling is unidirectional I.e. the spins system deeps some memory of the cooling field direction. The chalcogenide spinel of$ CdCr_{2-2x}In){2X}Se_4$belongs to the class of the magnetic semiconductors. The magnetic disordered state is obtained when ferromagnetic structure is diluted by In. Then we have the mixed phase characterised by coexistence the magnetic long range ordering (IFN-infinite ferromagnetic network) and the spin glass order (Fc-finite clusters). The total magnetic anisotropy energy depends on the state of magnetic ordering. In our study we concentrated on the magnetic state with reentrant transition and spin glass state. The polycrystalline $ CdCr_{2-2x}In){2X}Se_4$ thin films were obtained by rf sputtering technique. We applied the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) and M-H loop techniques for determining the temperature composition dependencies of Han. From the experimental data, we have found that Han decreases almost linearly when temperature is increased and in the low temperature is about three times bigger at SG state with comparison to the state with REE.

  • $^1H$ NMR spectra for monocyanide ligated ferriprotoporphyrin(hemin) complex and dicyanide coordinated hemin complex in dimethylsulfoxide(DMSO-$d_6$) solution have been recorded and analyzed. NMR spectra of hemin-cyanide complexation in DMSO-$d_6$ exhibit that the cyanide ligation to hemin is temperature-dependent. Thermodynamic parameters for the monocyanide ligated hemin to dicyanide ligated hemin are consistent with endothermic process with ${\Delta}H^{\circ}=736.6cal/mol$ and ${\Delta}S^{\circ}=16.4eu$. Detailed analysis of the anomalous deviation from Curie behavior for CN/DMSO coordinated hemin complex demonstrates the presence of a high spin character, and this weaker axial field relative to the purely low-spin dicyanide hemin complex is supposed to attribute to instantaneously ruptured iron-DMSO bond. This complex may serve as a useful model to characterize electronic/molecular structure of hemoproteins, which one of axial ligands is weak.

  • To achieve high-performance colloidal quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QD-LEDs), the use of a densely packed QD film is crucial to prevent the formation of leakage current pathways and increase in interface resistance. Spin coating is the most common method to deposit QDs; however, this method often produces pinholes that can act as short-circuit paths within devices. Since state-of-the-art QD-LEDs typically employ mono- or bi-layer QDs as an emissive layer because of their low conductivities, the use of a densely packed and pinhole-free QD film is essential. Herein, we introduce the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique as a deposition method for the fabricate densely packed QD films in QD-LEDs. The LB technique successfully transfers a highly dense monolayer of QDs onto the substrate, and multilayer deposition is performed by repeating the transfer process. To validate the comparability of the LB technique with the standard QD-LED fabrication process, we fabricate and compare the performance of LB-based QD-LEDs to that of the spin-coating-based device. Owing to the non-destructiveness of the LB technique, the electroluminescence efficiency of the LB-based QD-LEDs is similar to that of the standard spin coating-based device. Thus, the LB technique is promising for use in optoelectronic applications.

  • This paper presents the Campbell diagram analysis of the rotordynamic system using the full order model (FOM) and the reduced order model (ROM) techniques to determine the critical speeds, identify the stability and reduce the computational time. Due to the spin-speed-dependent matrices (e.g., centrifugal stiffening matrix), several model order reduction (MOR) techniques may be considered, such as the modal superposition (MS) method and the Krylov subspace-based MOR techniques (e.g., Ritz vector (RV), quasi-static Ritz vector (QSRV), multifrequency quasi-static Ritz vector (MQSRV), multifrequency/ multi-spin-speed quasi-static Ritz vector (MMQSRV) and the combined Ritz vector & modal superposition (RV+MS) methods). The proposed MMQSRV method in this study is extended from the MQSRV method by incorporating the rotational-speed-dependent stiffness matrices into the Krylov subspace during the MOR process. Thus, the objective of this note is to respond to the question of whether to use the MS method or the Krylov subspace-based MOR technique in establishing the Campbell diagram of the shaft-disc-blade assembly systems in three-dimensional (3D) finite element analysis (FEA). The Campbell diagrams produced by the FOM and various MOR methods are presented and discussed thoroughly by computing the norm of relative errors (ER). It is found that the RV and the MS methods are dominant at low and high rotating speeds, respectively. More precisely, as the spinning velocity becomes large, the calculated ER produced by the RV method is significantly increased; in contrast, the ER produced by the MS method is smaller and more consistent. From a computational point of view, the MORs have substantially reduced the time computing considerably compared to the FOM. Additionally, the verification of the 3D FE rotordynamic model is also provided and found to be in close agreement with the existing solutions.
