This paper reports the test results for shrinkage properties of low shrinkage high performance concrete developed by the authors depending on specimen size and constraint of reinforcing bar. As properties in fresh concrete low shrinkage high performance concrete(LSHPC) combined with expansive additives and shrinkage reducing admixture resulted in increase SP dosage due to loss of fluidity compared with that of control mixture concrete, while the dosage of AE agent was decreased. LSHPC exhibited higher compressive and tensile strength than control mixture concrete. For the effect of specimen size, an increase in specimen size led to a reduction of drying shrinkage. However, it was found that the autogenous shrinkage was not affected by the specimen size and measuring method. For constraint condition, an increase in the ratio of reinforcing bar caused the slight reduction in the strain of reinforcing bar, while it increased the autogenous shrinkage stress. It was seen that LSHPC was effective to reduce autogenous shrinkage by as much as 70% compared with control mixture high performance concrete.

This paper presents the experimental results on volumetric changes in ordinary portland cement concrete made with various water-to-cement ratios(W/C's) ranging from 0.32 to 0.50 and cured in low different conditions. Curing regimes employed in this work were designed to exhibit autogenous and drying shrinkage as well as swelling of concrete. The concrete avoided any moist evaporation(Regime f showed only autogenous shrinkage and the lower the W/C, the feater the autogenous shrinkage. The concrete exposed to air drying conditions at $20{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ and $60{\pm}3%$ RH after 6-day water curing at $20{\pm}1^{\circ}C$(Regime II) swelled and then started to shrink. The maximum swelling value of concrete developed in water curing was between 15 and $40{\pm}10^{-6}$, and the greatest total shrinkage(autogenous+drying shrinkage) was obtained for the mixture made with W/C of 0.32. The concrete let to air drying conditions(Regime III) showed greater total shrinkage compared to the concrete cured in Regime II. The concrete exposed to air drying condition after 6-day sealed curing(Regime IV) exhibited slightly smaller total shrinkage than that of the concrete cured in Regime III. Net drying shrinkage that can be derived from the results of Regime I, III, and IV increased as the W/C increased despite of similar total shrinkage. This result indicated that drying shrinkage governs total shrinkage of high-W/C concretes. In other words, a portion of autogenous shrinkage in total shrinkage increased in low-W/C concretes. Therefore, it should be controlled in terms of cracking potential. Finally, total shrinkage of high-strength and high-performance concrete made with low W/C can be effectively reduced by appropriate early moisture curing.

Most of shrinkage is mainly caused by autogenous shrinkage in Ultra high strength steel-fiber reinforced cementitious composites(UHSFRC). water to binder ratio is very low, about 0.2. It occurs faster hydration and cause a large amount of autogenous shrinkage in early ages. the large autogenous shrinkage can cause harmful cracks in a structure and deteriorate the designed structural performance. therefore it is very important to predict the autogenous shrinkage accurately. The study about the autogenous shrinkage of UHSFRC was carried out in this paper. through comparing with JSCE recommendations for UHSFRC, it was found out that UHSFRC in this study showed higher autogenous shrinkage than that of JSCE. And Applicability of early proposed models by some researchers was also investigated. the analytical results let us know that Miyazawa's model showed the best agreement with the experimentally obtained autogenous shrinkage of UHSFRC.

The expenses of maintenance and reinforcement for aged concrete structures are significantly on the increase as their durability and general performance has been naturally degraded. Due to this reason, interests on concrete crack reduction technology are growing but more researches are required to fulfill such fast growing demands. Particularly in the underground power facilities, it is difficult to maintain the quality of aging concrete spheres for underground power as their deterioration caused by long-term operation is on-going. In recent years, many studies have been made to overcome the issues and now it is determined that the shrinkage reducing technology which can dramatically reduce the crack at the design stage is one of the most effective solutions. In this study, the test investigated fundamental propertiesof concrete using various shrinkage reducing materials to develop low shrinkage mortar. According to results of experimental study, for mortar and concrete, glycol based material showed excellent shrinkage property and compressive strength. For the later study to generic application of the shrinkage reducing materials, performance reviews on the shrinkage reducing materials with variable factors and various materials such as changes in the amount and type of materials should be followed.

HPFRCC is characterized by a very low water-to-binder ratio which induce extremely large autogenous shrinkage at early age. The restriction of such autogenous shrinkage through the use of forms and reinforcing bars will increase substantially the risk of excessive residual stresses and shrinkage cracking. The exact understanding of the shrinkage behavior and studies on solutions to reduce shrinkage should be imperatively undertaken for further application of HPFRCC to real structures. Therefore, this paper investigated the mechanical properties of HPFRCC with respect to the eventual introduction of expansive admixture(EA) and shrinkage reducing agent (SRA) in the mixture. Autogenous shrinkage test was conducted considering the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) measured at early age so as to examine the effects of EA and SRA on the autogenous shrinkage behavior of HPFRCC.

High performance concrete (HPC) is widely used in civil engineering due to its high durability and low permeability etc. Compared with ordinary concrete, HPC may develop much higher AS (autogenous shrinkage) at early age due to the relative low water cement (w/c) ratio and adding of mineral admixtures, which is one of the main reasons for early age micro-cracking of HPC structures. This paper studies the early age property of HPC columns under similar construction-site surroundings by embedded strain transducers. Results show that for HPC structure, early-age autogenous shrinkage especially within the first day after concrete pouring is pretty large. AS within the first day are 60% larger than those for 14 days in this research for all specimens. Therefore it should be taken into account for structure durability. By comparison of PHPC (plain HPC column) and RHPC (reinforced HPC column) specimens, the effects of reinforced bars on AS and temperature distribution have been analyzed. Also the influence of w/c ratio on AS is demonstrated.
Dense glass-ceramics for low firing temperature substrate were prepared by addition of CeO2 flux to the glass of MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 system. Glass powders were fabricated by melting at 150$0^{\circ}C$ and ball milling. Glass powder compacts were sintered at 800~100$0^{\circ}C$ for 3h. The crystallization and the shrinkage behaviors of glass powder compacts were analyzed by XRD, DTA and TMA. The shrinkage of glass powder compact increased with increasing the amount of CeO2. Because the softening temperature decreased and the crystallization temperature increased with increasing the amount of CeO2. Apparently, addition of CeO2 prevented formation of $\mu$-cordierite phase from the glass-ceramics and improved formation of $\alpha$-cordierite phase. Therefore crystallization properties were enhanced.

The Hot Embossing Lithography(HEL) as a method for the fabrication of nanostructure with polymer is becoming increasingly important because of its simple process, low cost, high replication fidelity and relatively high throughput. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of hot embossing lithography as a nanoreplication technique. To grasp characteristics of nano patterning rheology by process parameters(embossing temperature, pressure and time), we have carried out various experiments by using the DVD(400nm pattern width) and Blu-ray nickel stamps(150nm pattern width). During the hot embossing process, we have observed the characteristics of the size effect. The quality of products made by hot embossing is affected by its cooling shrinkage. The demolding process at the glass transition temperature results in low quality because of the shrinkage of the polymer. Therefore, the quantification of the temperature condition is essential for the replication of high quality.
The behaviour of composite frame - shear wall systems with regard to creep and shrinkage with high beam stiffness has been largely unattended until recently since no procedure has been available. Recently an accurate procedure, termed the Consistent Procedure (CP), has been developed which is applicable for low as well as for high beam stiffness. In this paper, CP is adapted for a class of composite frame - shear wall systems comprising of steel columns and R.C. shear walls. Studies are reported for the composite systems with high as well as low beam stiffness. It is shown that considerable load redistribution occurs between the R.C. shear wall and the steel columns and additional moments occur in beams. The magnitude of the load redistribution and the additional moment in the beams depend on the stiffness of the beams. It is also shown that the effect of creep and shrinkage are greater for the composite frame - shear wall system than for the equivalent R.C. frame - shear wall system.
