In this paper, a new continuous-time current-mode integrator as basic building block of the low-voltage analog current-mode active filters was proposed. Compared to the current-mode integrator which was proposed by Zele, the proposed current-mode integrator had higher unity gain frequency and output impedance in addition to lower power dissipation. And also, a current-mode third-order lowpass active filter was designed with the proposed current-mode integrator. The designed circuits were fabricated using the ORBIT's 1.2.mu.m double-poly double-metal CMOS n-well process. The experimental resutls of the active filter designed and fabricated for this research have shown that it has the performance of 44.5MHz cutoff frequency, 3.3mW power dissipation and the third-order active filter area was 0.12mm$^{2}$.
A VLSI digital filter design using a semi-custom method is described. The digital filters composed of TDM/FDM Transmultiplexer are designed. Using the polyphase network approach a filter bank composed of only all-pass digital filter sections was designed. The use of all-pass filters as basic building blocks is shown to provide a transmultiplexer structure that has low computational requirements, low quantization noise, and high modularity. The silicon compiler systems is used to reduce the design time and increase the credibility of designed filters. A design of 1st order and 2nd order all pass filters is done using CMOS 2um N-well double metal cell.
In this paper, a compact fully printable bandpass filter is suggested for a low-frequency channel 3.2 GHz ~ 3.7 GHz in the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) communication system. It is featured with a small geometry of $0.5{\lambda}_g/15$ and a low insertion loss despite using FR4 as a cheap substrate of a high dielectric loss. This is made possible by generating zeroth-order-resonance (ZOR) from one cell comprising two series resonances obviously separated from one shunt resonance as a third-order bandpass filter. Especially, the series resonance elements are combined with spur-lines bent by 90 degrees, which makes the port-impedance matched well and eliminates spurious hikes in the stopband, while the overall size remains almost unchanged. The design is carried out by setting up the equivalent circuit and the circuit simulation is checked by the full-wave EM analysis. The structure is manufactured and measured to show that the circuit modeling and EM simulation results agree with the measured data.
A novel control method of a three-phase PWM inverter with LC filter is proposed. The transfer function of LC filter is the same as that of second-order low pass filter(LPF), which has a zero damping ratio. A simple method of implementing second-order LPF with damping ratio is to add a resistor in an LC circuit. However, in a real power system, adopting damping resistors is impractical because it results in losses proportional to the square of the current flowing through the resistors. Instead of inserting resistors, the proposed control strategy utilizes the measured capacitor voltages to control the oscillation of LC circuit. The overall transfer function of the proposed method is the same as a second-order LPF, and its damping ratio is controllable via control variables. The current controller can have overshoots caused by LC filter. Improved current controller is implemented by an equivalent second-order of LC filter. A 7.5 kVA PWM converter and a PWM inverter with a 5.5 kW induction motor are set up to verify the proposed control algorithm. Test waveforms are also presented to verify the proposed LC filter control algorithm.
An AC induction motor or constant speed characteristics has been widely used as power source because of simple structure and low maintenance cost in industrial field. The variable frequency AC source with a conventional inverter which is composed or power semi-conductors and drive systems contains much noises in sine wave current due to high speed switching or direct current. In this paper, the low pass LC filter for a variable speed induction motor driven by a full bridge inverter is introduced to solve EMI problem originated by much noise current. The modified LC filter based on the 3rd order Butterworth LC filter is used for the computer simulations and real experiments. The characteristics or proposed LC filter are investigated through FET analysis.
This paper describes a low-cost single-phase active power filter, which consists of a half-bridge PWM inverter with a simple control circuit. In order to verify the performance of proposed active power filter, many computer simulations with EMTP codes and experimental works with a hardware prototype were done. Both results confirm that the proposed active power filter shows excellent performance to eliminate the harmonics generated in the single-phase non-linear load. The active power filter has advantage of low implementation cost and compact size, using a half-bridge inverter and a simple control circuit with only one current sensor. So, it can be fabricated as a plug-in type. This paper shows the necessity and a good possibility to apply such advantage to the electric railway system.
In this paper, we designed Interpolation FIR(Finite Impulse Response) filter and 1-bit SDM(Sigma- Delta Modulator) for small digital audio speaker, which has low power consumption and high output characteristics. In order to achieve high linearity and low distortion performance of the systems, we adopt Type I Chevychev FIR filter which has equiripple characteristics in the pass band and proposed high efficient FIR filter structure. SDM is the most efficient modulation technique among the noise shaping techniques. In this paper, we implemented SDM using CIFB(Cascade of Intergrators, Feed-Back) which is generally used in DAC of small digital audio speakers. The proposed SDM structure can achieve high SNR, high-efficiency characteristics and low power consumption in mobile devices. Also considering manufacture of SoC(System on Chip), we performed simulation with Matlab and Verilog HDL to obtain optimal number of operational bits and verified a good experimental results.

In this paper, a new semi-lumped low-pass filter with three finite attenuation poles at stopband is presented. The new structure is composed of a pair of symmetrical parallel coupled-line and a shunted capacitor. With this configuration, three finite attenuation poles can be available for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th harmonics suppression. The research method is based on transmission-line model for tuning the attenuation poles. In order to examine the feasibility of the proposed structure, a low-pass filter based on microstrip structure with harmonics suppression is designed, fabricated, and measured. The experimental results of the fabricated circuit agree well with the simulation and analytical ones.
In this paper, a sampler model for the P-type current mode control employing low pass filter is proposed. Even though the frequency response of the compensator used in a P-type current mode control employing low pass filter is similar to that of P-type compensator, the sampler model has to be obtained from the method used in PI-type current mode control. In order to show the usefulness of the proposed method, prediction results of the proposed model are compared to those from the circuit level simulator, PSIM.
Block filter implementation technique for uniform filter banks is uniform in this paper. By applying block filter into decimation and interpolation filters, it is shown that down and up samplers are cancelled out in respective liters. Furthermore by applying block filters into uniform filter banks, significant reduction for computational complexity is achieved since prototype filter can be shared in each channel implementation. Also, it is shown that proposed implementation is a reconfigurable structure in terms of order variation.
