Generally, reaction wheels or thrusters are used for attitude control of a satellite. There is a potential method for the attitude control utilizing the plasma flow on the Low Earth Orbit. In the present study, experiments which simulate attitude control of a Low Earth Orbit Satellite using the ionosphere were conducted. In this experiment, a plasma flow was generated by a steady-state Hall type accelerator. However it is known that the Hall type accelerator, which is used as plasma source, produces a torque around its axis called "swirl torque". This torque would affect the attitude control in the above-mentioned experiments. First of all, we conducted the measurement of the swirl torque. Secondly, experiments using a satellite model with negative electrodes were conducted. The negative electrodes generated torque around the axis, and controlled the attitude of the satellite model by changing the applied voltage.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of muscle strength by stimulation of russian current and low frequency. Methods : The subjects were thirty young healthy volunteers who were divided into two groups including russian current group(n=15) and low frequency group(n=15). The intervention was applied totally 12 times (1 time, 10 minute) for 4weeks in each group. The peak torque and average power were measured and analysed using Biodex system 4 before the treatment, after 2 weeks, 4 weeks. Results : As a result, russians currents and low frequency stimulation increased significantly average power and peak torque with the lapse of time. However, there were not significant differences of the average power and peak torque between the groups in all periods. Conclusion : In conclusion, russians currents and low frequency stimulation had no differences in the increase of muscle strength.
Gearbox is used to converter the power with high torque and low speed into the power with low torque and high speed. Gearbox housing should be sustained to prevent rotation of gearbox itself due to the difference between input and out torque. Uneven wind causes the reaction system to have unwanted reactive loads together with predictable pure torque. These unwanted reaction loads often cause the failure of gearbox due to bad gear mesh. In this paper, pure torque reaction system is proposed to prevent the failure of gearbox. Effectiveness and functionality of the proposed reaction system are demonstrated through the numerical analysis.
When medium and large induction motors are driven by 2-level inverters with low switching frequency, induction motors provoke deteriorated performances resulted from large torque ripples, flux ripples, and large current distortion. Model predictive torque control(MPTC) for a fast torque control of induction motors is also suffered from large torque ripples when the induction motors are fed by 2-level inverters that are based on 6 active voltage vectors with low switching frequency restricted. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new MPTC method based on both a 12 active voltage vector and an optimized duty ratio calculation. The proposed control strategy illustrates its effectiveness under the various operating conditions through simulation works.
The performance of direct torque controlled (DTC) interior permanent magnet (IPM) machines is poor at low speeds due to a few reasons, namely limited accuracy of stator voltage acquisition and the presence of offset and drift components in the acquired signals. Due to factors such as forward voltage drop across switching devices in the three phase inverter and dead-time of the devices, the voltage across the machine terminals differ from the reference voltage vector used to estimate stator flux and electromagnetic torque. This can lead to instability of the IPM drive during low speed operation. Compensation schemes for forward voltage drops and dead-time are proposed and implemented in real-time control, resulting in improved performance of the space vector modulated DTC IPM drive, especially at low speeds. No additional hardware is required for these compensators.
The Ultrasonic motor(USM) has many good characteristics such as high torque at low speed range, large holding torque based upon frictional force, high speed response, flexible free ferns, compactness in size, low magnetic noise and silentness in motion. Because of having low speed rotation, USM is good as an actuator of a small size direct drive (DD) manipulator. The acturators for the DD manipulators must have good controllability on the speed and torque from zero to maximum value continuously. New method was developed for speed and torque control by the phase difference control of the two-phase driving signals of the motor. Then rule adjustable compliant and dumped motion was realized on the output shaft of the motor by PD control of the output shaft angle.
The control method of programmable dynamometer for overall test of machine is to load reference torque which is computed from torque transducer into motor under test. But the torque information detected from torque transducer have a lot of noise when the load torque of moter is a small quantity or changing. Thus, torque transducer must have a low pass filter to detect a definite torque information. But The torque delay generated by filter with torque transducer occur a torque trouble for moter torque of programmable dynamometer. Therefore, this kind of system could not perform dynamic and nonlinear load. In this paper, the control method using the load torque observer without a measure for torque transducer is proposed. The proposed system improved the problem of the torque measuring delay with torque transducer, and the load torque is estimated by the minimal order state observer based on the torque component of the vector control induction moter. Therefore, the torque controller is not affected by a load torque disturbance.
An experiment is conducted for measuring the performance of an air tool, which is operated at 100,000 RPM in an unloaded state with very low torque. A 551 kPa in gauge pressure is supply to the inlet of an air tool. An experimental apparatus is developed as a friction type dynamometer. Inlet total pressure, air flow rate, rotational speed and operating force are measured simultaneously. Torque, output power and specific output power are obtained with different rotational speeds. Those are compared with the experimental results which were obtained by a commercial dynamometer. However, no commercial dynamometers are available for measuring the torque above 30,000 RPM. In order to reduce the rotational speed, a reduction gear is applied between the air tool and the commercial dynamometer. Torque and power obtained by the commercial dynamometer show $55\%$ lower than those obtained by the developed friction type dynamometer, because the mass is added to the rotor of air tool for the braking system of the commercial dynamometer and power loss is generated by the reduction gear. From the compared results, the friction type dynamometer should be applied for measuring the performance of the air tool operating at low torque and high RPM.
In this paper, a novel single-phase hybrid switched reluctance motor (HSRM) is proposed for hammer breaker application. The hammer breaker requires only unidirectional rotation and high-speed operation. To satisfy the requirements and eliminate torque dead-zone, the rotor of the proposed 4/4 poles SRM is designed with wider pole arc and non-uniform air-gap. This motor has a simple structure and produces low torque ripple. Permanent magnets (PMs) are mounted on the inner stator at a certain position which enables it to park the rotor for self-start and create positive cogging torque in the torque dead-zone. Compared with conventional single-phase switched reluctance motor, HSRM has an increased torque density and relatively low torque ripple. To verify effectiveness, finite element method (FEM) is employed to analyze the performance of the proposed structure. Then, the proposed motor is compared with the existing motor drive system for the same application. The proposed HSRM is easy to manufacture along with competitive performance.
