  • This paper proposes a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) with chopper stabilization technique with a sample-hold circuit. Chopper stabilization technique is effective in terms of reducing low frequency offset and flicker noise. Conventional chopper amplifier has a disadvantage in area because of using Low Pass Filter (LPF) for remove chopping spike. The proposed chopper amplifier employed sample and hold technique to decrease chopping spike instead of LPF that improves 36% in voltage damping and 11% in area.

  • The use of energy storage systems (ESSs) has become a feasible solution to solve the wind power intermittency issue. However, the use of ESSs increases the system cost significantly. In this paper, an optimal power flow control scheme to minimize the ESS capacity is proposed by using the zero-phase delay low-pass filter which can eliminate the phase delay between the dispatch power and the wind power. In addition, the filter time constant is optimized at the beginning of each dispatching interval to ensure the fluctuation mitigation requirement imposed by the grid code with a minimal ESS capacity. And also, a short-term power dispatch control algorithm is developed suitable for the proposed power dispatch based on the zero-phase delay low-pass filter with the predetermined ESS capacity. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed power management approach, case studies are carried out by using a 3-MW wind turbine with real wind speed data measured on Jeju Island.

  • In digital image communication systems, YUV 4:2:0 or YUV 4:2:2 images filtered and subsampled versions of YUV 4:4:4 images are utilized and these images recover their size by an interpolation filter. Low pass filters and interpolation filters in the image communication systems are generally utilized. Thus, to improve the image quality, efficient low pass filters and interpolation filters are still required. In this paper, we propose new and efficient low pass filters and interpolation filters and their design method. The low pass filters and interpolation filters used in the MPEG-2 system were developed independently. We utilize wavelet transforms to jointly design low pass filters and interpolation filters. Simulation results show that the proposed filters are superior to the filters used in MPEG-2 in terms of PSNR. In addition, the length of the proposed interpolation filters is shorter than that of the filters used in the MPEG 2 system.

  • In this paper, a design method for a wideband LPF for harmonic suppression applications is investigated. The proposed wideband LPF is comprised of four circular slot pairs with different diameters, which are added symmetrically in the ground plane of a CPW transmission line. Four circular slot pairs act as a defected ground structure and provide a wideband low pass characteristic. The circular slot with the smallest diameter is located at the side of port 1, and the diameter of the circular slot is increased as it goes toward port 2. The low pass characteristics of each circular slot are compared with the proposed wideband LPF. The final designed LPF was fabricated on FR4 substrate, and its characteristics were tested. The measured S11 characteristic was maintained at over -3.3 dB in the frequency range of 1.89-20.00 GHz band, whereas the S21 characteristic was less than -21.4 dB in the frequency range of 2.66-20.00 GHz.

  • Recently, with the rapid development and demand for compactness of portable communications, the requirement for compact and low-cost filter is increasing. One of the methods for reducing size and cost is to use high dielectric constant and low loss dielectric material in filter. The other is new monoblock dielectric band-pass filter (BPF) which has holes in a single dielectric body without additional coupling elements. This structure effectively reduces the size and cost of the filters. For previous conventional coaxial type dielectric BPF, dielectric substrates were used for coupling between adjacent resonators and additional input and output ports were needed. Coupling between adjacent resonators of monoblock BPF can be otained via electrode pairs. Capacitances of electrode pair structure for coupling are intensively investigated by 3-D FEM. The BPF for PCS has been designed to have a 30 MHz pass-bandwidth with center frequency of 1855 MHz and an attenuation pole at below the passband using a commercial 3-D structure simulator.

  • In this study, an image acquired by the DSA(Digital Subtraction Angiography) system that is configured to configure the algorithm for high pass filtering algorithm experiments to improve the quality of angiography methods proposed. high pass filter is a high-frequency components pass through the filter, blocking low-frequency components. Part of the boundary line and contour of the organ corresponds to the high-frequency component is a high-frequency component of a medical image. Therefore, the high pass filter is also used for detection of the boundary line, but is also used for the high frequency enhancement. It was able to be analyzed by the proposed algorithm, to improve the quality of the angiography. Found out that the expression of the target site stand out clearly. The quality of the DSA system proposed in the wrong diagnosis software can be used to reduce, it is possible to develop and will further improve the accuracy of the treatment.

  • This paper investigates a new method to design blocker geometry in rib-web type closed die forging. By examining various forging and blocker geometries, it was found that blocker geometry can be generated by eliminating high frequency mode from finisher geometry. In order to formalize the procedure, low pass filters, which can convert finisher to blocker geometry, are proposed. Also discrete Fourier transform is used for computational efficiency. The blocker geometry designed by the present method are compared with the one by an experienced designer. The blocker geometries are also validated by using FEM simulation. Present results shows that the frequency approach may offer a promising method to design blocker automatically.

  • This paper presents the research of Low Pass Filter(hereinafter called "LPF") which is the part of Chopper Gate Control Unit on the electric rolling stock. Chopper Gate Control Unit controling the propulsive equipments of electric rolling stock consists of several electronic parts, PCB, Power Supply, Gate Circuit Amp, Freon Cooling Device, and has been used the parts made by japan manufacturer Mitsubish. But these parts recently have been more broken down and slow down performance because of long-term use, deterioration. Most of the malfunctions are low performance of LPF. Furthermore, it is physically impossible to repair LPF. Because it is molding type part and no longer manufactured. Also it needs high cost for custom-building. Therefore, it is now making up for through self-developed LPF and operating on Busan metro 1st after on-board testing. This research performed the PS Pice simulation testing, analysis of self-developed LPF performance and the wave form characteristic by multi-function synthesizer, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope.

  • This paper proposes a dead time compensation method for an AC motor drive using phase current polarity information which is detected based on a digital programmable low-pass filter (PLPF). The polarity detection using the PLPF is an alternative solution of a conventional method which uses a general low-pass filter (LPF) and hysteresis bands in order to avoid jittering due to noises. The PLPF not only adjusts its cutoff frequency according to the synchronous frequency of AC motors but also eliminates a gain attenuation and phase delay which are main problems of the general LPF. Through the PLPF, a fundamental component signal without gain and phase distortions is extracted from the measured raw current signal with noise. By use of the fundamental component, the polarity of current is effectively detected by reducing the hysteresis band. Finally, the proposed method compensates the dead time effects by adding or subtracting average voltage value to voltage references of the controller according to the detected current polarity information. The proposed compensation method is experimentally verified by compared with the conventional method.

  • A novel control method of a three-phase PWM inverter with LC filter is proposed. The transfer function of LC filter is the same as that of 2nd order low pass filter(2nd LPF) which has a zero damping ratio. A simple method of implementing 2nd LPF with damping ratio is to add resistor to inductor or capacitor of LC filter. In an industrial application, it is not practical to adopt damping resistor because it results in losses being proportional to square of current flowing through resistor. Instead of using damping resistors, the proposed active damping control(ADC) utilizes all pass filter(APF) and considers inherent processing delay of digital controller. The overall transfer function of the proposed method is the same as a 2nd LPF and its damping ratio is also controllable via control variables. Detailed design and implementation of controller is also presented. Experiments are conducted with a 7.5kVA induction motor drive system controlled by PWM converter and inverter. Test waveforms are also presented to verify the proposed LC filter control algorithm.
