Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between Yin-deficiency questionnaire score and various biofunctional signals in women. Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed on charts of 195 patients who visited Gangdong Kyung Hee Hospital between April 1st and September 30th, 2011. The subjects were categorized into two groups, a low Yin-deficiency group (n=118) and a high Yin-deficiency group (n=77). The authors analyzed the correlation between Yin-deficiency questionnaire score and biofunctional signals by Pearson's correlation coefficient test and the difference in biofunctional signals between the two groups by independent samples t-test using SPSS for windows. Results: 1. Negative correlations were observed between the temperature difference of back-humerus, standard deviation of all R-R intervals (SDNN), total power (TP), low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF) on heart rate variability parameters, and Yin-deficiency questionnaire score. A positive correlation was observed between the temperature difference of knee-humerus and Yin-deficiency questionnaire score. 2. The temperature difference of back-humerus in the high Yin-deficiency group was significantly higher than that in the low Yin-deficiency group. The temperature difference of knee-humerus, height, waist-hip ratio, SDNN, TP, LF, and HF of the high Yin-deficiency group were significantly lower than those of the low Yin-deficiency group. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that the comprehensive diagnosis of Yin-deficiency and biofunctional signals is useful.
Purpose: The aim of this study was conducted to investigate the mean nRBC count in very low births weight infants (VLBWIs) and to determine the usefulness of the nRBC as an independent prognostic factors of perinatal complications in VLBWIs. Methods: This study was conducted on 112 VLBWIs who were hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of the author's hospital within the period from March 2003 to and May 2008. Based on the infants' nucleated red blood cells (nRBC) counts at birth, on the third day after birth, on the seventh day after birth, in the second week after birth, and in the fourth week after birth in the medical records, the correlation between nRBC or absolute nRBC counts with birth weight, gestational age, and other perinatal outcomes were retrospectively investigated. Results: In VLBWIs, their mean nRBC and absolute nRBC counts were showing a gradual decrease after birth, and they were consisteantly kept at low values since one week after and inversely proportional to the birth weights. The mean nRBC counts based on the stage after birth showed a significant correlation with perinatal death, necrotizing enterocolitis, and severe intraventricular hemorrhage. Conclusion: The increase in the nRBC count showed a significant correlation with having a severe intraventricular hemorrhage, necrotizing enterocolitis, and perinatal death in VLBWIs. If an increase or no decrease in the nRBC count after birth is observed, newborninfant care precautions should be required.
Objectives This study was to investigate the correlation of low back pain, stress by event, and fear-avoidance beliefs caused by traffic accident. Methods We investigated 103 cases of out-patient with traffic accident. The patients answered that Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Impact of Event Scale Revised Korean Version (IES-R-K), and Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ) on the first medical examination. We calculated statistical significance with this data. Results VAS, IES-R-K, and FABQ scores of the female patients with the traffic accident were higher than the male patients. VAS, IES-R-K, and FABQ scores showed low significant positive correlation and showed partial correlation between IES-R-K and FABQ, controlled by VAS, had no statistical significance in this research. Conclusions More considerations on pain, stress by event, and fear avoidance belief should be needed in treatment of the traffic accident patients.
An investigation was conducted on 729 Hariana cows maintained at Government Livestock Farm, Hisar, from 1973 to 1999, with an objective to compare the efficiency of various selection indices for attaining desired genetic gains in the index traits. The various traits included were age at first calving (AFC), service period (SP), calving interval (CI), days to first service (DFS), number of services per conception (NSPC), lactation milk yield (LY), peak yield (PY), dry period (DP). Except for LY, PY and AFC the heritabilities of all other traits were low. Desirable associations among reproductive traits are supportive of the fact that any one of these traits incorporated in simultaneous selection is expected to cause correlated response in other traits. Production traits (LY and PY) were positively correlated, while DP had low negative genetic correlation with LY, and high genetic correlation with PY. Thus, DP can be taken as additional criteria in selection index for better over all improvement. Almost all production traits except DP had low negative correlation with AFC, SP, DFS and CI meaning that reduction in reproduction traits up to certain level may increase production performance. While, the correlation of NSPC with LY and PY was moderate positive. Among four trait indices I23: incorporating PY, AFC, SP and NSPC and among three trait indices I1: incorporating LY, AFC and SP were the best as these required least number of generations (4.87 and 1.35, respectively) to attain desired goals. Next in order of preference were PY or LY along with DP and SP as the best indices (I20 and I16) of which, index with PY may be preferred instead of LY as it produced considerably high correlated response in LY and reduction in NSPC as well.

The purpose of this study is to develop regression equations between annual specific sedi- ment of reservoirs and physiographic factors of watersheds. 122 irrigation reservoirs, which have irrigation areas equal to or larger than 200 ha, located in Korea except Cheju province are used in the analysis. Simple regression analyses between the specific annual sediment and each of the physical characteristic factors of the reservoirs are carried out at first. Then, multiple regression analyses between the annual specific sediment and the physical characteristic factors with high correlation coefficients in the simple regression analyses are made. The results obtained from this study are as follows : 1. The results of the sirnple regression analyses show that in each province the watershed area, the length of mainstream, the circumferential length of watershed have high cor- relation coefficients (R=0.814-0.986), and that drainage density, reservoir capacity per watershed area, drainage frequency, basin relief have low correlation coefficients (R=0. 387-0.955). 2. The purposed multiple regression equations between the annual specific sediment of reservoirs and three major characteritic factors of watersheds, namely, the watershed area, the circumferential length of watershed, and the length of mainstream, are proposed as given in Table 2. 3. The result of the simple regression analyses with respect to the reservoir elevation except Jeonnam province, which has very different characteristics comparing to other provinces, shows that watershed area, main stream length and circumferential length have high correlation coefficients (R=0.806-0.884) in low-elevation reservoirs and intermediate- elevation reservoirs, but low correlation coefficients (R=0.639-0.739) in high-elevation reservoirs. 4. With respect to the reservoir elevation, the proposed multiple regression equations bet- ween the annual specific sediment of reservoirs and the three major characteristic factors of watershed which have high correlation coefficients are proposed as given in Table 5.
This study was conducted to identify adults' knowledge, dietary behavior related to sodium, the attitude towards a low-salt diet, and to examine the relation between these variables. The participants were 366 adults in Jeonbuk area. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficients, ANOVA and Duncan test with SPSS v. 12.0. The score for participants' knowledge about sodium was 12.32 points of a possible 16, the score for dietary behavior related to sodium was 45.74 points of a possible 70, and their score for attitude towards a low-salt diet was 30.35 points of a possible 50. The knowledge showed significant differences by gender (p<.05), and concern about health (p<.05). The dietary behavior of sodium use showed significant differences by gender (p<.001), age (p<.001), educational level (p<.05), job (p<.001), income (p<.05), BMI (p<.05), smoking (p<.01), drinking (p<.01), exercise (p<.05), regularity of health checkup (p<.001), and concern about health (p<.01). The attitude towards a low-salt diet showed significant differences by gender (p<.001), age (p<.001), job (p<.001), income (p<.001), smoking (p<.05), regularity of health checkup (p<.001), and concern about health (p<.001). There was a significant positive correlation between knowledge about sodium, dietary behavior related to sodium, attitude towards a low-salt diet. Dietary behavior related to sodium showed a positive correlation with attitudes towards a low-salt diet. In conclusion, it is necessary to consider the related factors for the development and implementation of systematic education programs that can encourage and promote preventive dietary behavior for disease, e.g. stomach cancer, and hypertension among adults.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between mother's temperament and child's and parenting attitude. Methods: One hundred twenty healthy mothers (above 20 ys) who has a child (7-11 ys) participated after informed consent. The temperament of the children was analyzed by the Junior Temperament and Character Inventory 7-11 (JTCI 7-11) by their mothers. The temperament of the mothers was analyzed by the Temperament and Character Inventory-Revised Short (TCI-RS) and the parenting attitude of the mothers was analyzed by the Parenting Attitude Test (PAT). The relations between mother and child temperament and parenting attitude were assessed using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: There were some significant correlations between maternal temperaments and child's temperaments and maternal parenting attitude. Maternal temperament and parenting attitude: Novelty seeking (NS) of mother had low positive correlations with punishment, high expectation and inconsistency. Harm avoidance (HA) had low positive correlations with high involvement and high expectation, and had weak negative correlations with supportive expression and rational explanation. Reward dependence (RD) had low positive correlation with rational explanation. Persistence (P) had low positive correlations with supportive expression, rational explanation and superintendence, and weak negative correlation with high expectation. Child's temperament and parenting attitude: NS of child had low positive correlations with achievement press, high involvement, punishment, high expectation and inconsistency. Low positive correlations were found in many sets such as HA and high expectation, RD and supportive expression and rational explanation, P and supportive expression and rational explanation. Conclusions: These results suggest that there are significant relations between mother and child temperament and parenting attitude the temperament of mother and child.

66 patients with low back pain were evaluated to determine if any differences of weight bearing were existed between the same side leg that feel pain(pain side leg) and that without pain (non-pain side leg) of lower extremities while weight bearing. 66 patients were divided into 3 groups according to pain pattern such as low back pain only(26), radiating pain only(21) and low back pain with radiating pain (19). Control group were 28 normal persons. The weight bearing was rated by Limloader(Model LLD-2000, Ver 1.2) and analyzed by paired and independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Dunan's analaysis and Pearson's correlation analysis. The results of this study were as follows : 1. In patient group, significant difference of weight bearing rating between pain side leg and non-pain side leg was found. There was borne significantly less weight bearing rating(14.68%) on the pain side leg(P<.001). 2. In normal group, there was no significant difference between left and right leg(P>.05). But there was significant difference(3.21%) in absolute difference of both leg(p<.001). 3. The difference of 1 and 2 was 11.47% : more difference of weight bearing rating between both legs in patient group than that of the control group(p<.001). 4. There were significant differences of weight bearing rating in those 3 groups : low back pain group(10.30%), radiating pain group (17.90%) and low back pain with radiating pain group (17.10%) (p<.001). 5. There was significant correlation between pain intensity and difference of weight bearing rating(p<.05). The severer pain intensity. the more difference of weight bearing rating was found. 6. There was no significant correlation between the age, height and duration of symptom, etc(p>.05).
The radar interferogram represents phase differences between the two synthetic aperture radar observations acquired in slightly different angle. The success of the radar interferometric application largely depends on the quality of the interferogram generated from two or more synthetic aperture radar data sets. We propose here to apply the wavenumber correlation analysis to the in-phase and quadrature phase of the radar interferogram. The wavenumber correlation analysis is to resolve the highly correlated components from the low correlation components by estimating correlation coefficients for each wavenumber component. Through this approach, one can easily distinguish the signal components from the noise components in the wavenumber domain. Therefore, the wavenumber correlation analysis of the radar interferogram can be utilized to design post filter and to estimate the quality of interferogram. We have tested the wavenumber correlation analysis using a Radarsat SAR data pair to demonstrated the effectiveness of
Radiative transfer models in a spherical, turbulent interstellar medium (ISM), in which the photon source is situated at the center, are calculated to investigate the correlation between the scattered light and the dust column density. The medium is modeled using fractional Brownian motion structures that are appropriate for turbulent ISM. The correlation plot between the scattered light and optical depth shows substantial scatter and deviation from simple proportionality. It was also found that the overall density contrast is smoothed out in scattered light. In other words, there is an enhancement of the dust-scattered flux in low-density regions, while the scattered flux is suppressed in high-density regions. The correlation becomes less significant as the scattering becomes closer to being isotropic and the medium becomes more turbulent. Therefore, the scattered light observed in near-infrared wavelengths would show much weaker correlation than the observations in optical and ultraviolet wavelengths. We also find that the correlation plot between scattered lights at two different wavelengths shows a tighter correlation than that of the scattered light versus the optical depth.
