  • The clinical condition Amnesia causes difficulty in learning new information and the inability to recall past events. It is primarily concerned with recent memory loss. Majoon-e-Nisyan (MJN) is a polyherbal Unani formulation, present in a semi-solid form. It is widely used potent drug of the Unani System of Medicine (USM) for treating Nisyan (amnesia). In the present study polyherbal Unani formulation, MJN has been studied for its quality control and acute toxicity. Standardization (quality control) of drugs deals with drug identity, drug quality and purity determination. Standardization of MJN had been done as per the Unani pharmacopoeial parameters approved by World Health Organization (WHO) - Pharmacognostical parameters, Physico-chemical parameters, high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC), microbial load, aflatoxin, and heavy metals. Solvents and chemicals used in the study were of analytical grade and used instrument were calibrated. By conducting an acute oral toxicity study in rats, the safety of MJN was assessed. The limit test method of OECD guideline 425 was followed in the study. Results of standardization and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for preparation of MJN may serve as the standard reference in the future. The data generated in the study for the quality control of MJN proved the quality of formulation and shows that MJN is not toxic in rats following acute dosing up to 2000 mg/kg bw. The data obtained in the paper for MJN may be used as a standard guideline for preparation of the formulation which can save time, cost, and resources for future research endeavours.

  • Currently, we are living in the era of digital media that puts the technologies in front which is called digital. Based on the characteristic of 'de-materialistic', human senses have been extended more than ever and there is no exception on those influences. Even though the existence of media seriously brought the identity and value of the painting into a question after the emergence of analog photos, advent of digital photos are raising the wind of new paradigms and values creation more seriously than ever. Unlike analog photos of the past which go through chemical process, true nature of digital photo goes through the digital process which is represented by 0 and 1. This didn't bring the loss of the original, but rather brought the creation of the copy which excels the original through retouching and consequently, destroyed the traditional value which is referred as an original. Like this, digital photo image has aesthetics and value of existence which is differentiated from analog photo because it has essentially different structures and characteristics with analog photo.

  • For the effective disposal of organic food wastes, we seleted 4 strains of microorganism from 186 microbial candidate via enzyme activity test, salt tolerance, food decomposition rate, stability and safety of strains. The identity of these 4 strains are as follows : Fungi is Rhizopus sp., yeasts are Galactomyces sp., Pichia sp. and Hyphopichia sp., In the 50L fermenter scale, we tested various fermenting factor for the optimization of conditions of food waste decomposition using 4 selected strains. The optimum fomenting conditions were as follows : BIO-CHIP Volume 25-30 L, BIO CHIP size 2.0-6.0mm, air flow 200-280L/min, mixing intensity 2-4rpm, temperature $30-45^{\circ}C$. In these fermenting conditions, the efficiency of decomposition(rate of weight loss of food wastes) were 93%. Also the quality of fermenting output were assayed at the basis of fertilizer, and the results were as good as general compost.

  • This phenomenological study aims at exploring the role of family in promoting, maintaining, and developing job activities of women with acquired physical disabilities. As a result of in-depth interviews with 8 women with physical disabilities, 6 theme clusters and 14 sub-themes have appeared. Participants have vividly revealed their experiences with regard to the various support and help of their family. They were provided physical, emotional and financial supports which helped at great extent to overcome the anger and loss resulted from the acquired disabilities. Although most of the participants have experienced failure in job finding several times, they have at last succeeded in it by the consistent help of their family. In particular, the support and help given from the family were substantial and specific which promoted maintaining and developing their career. Therefore the participants could obtain more confidence in themselves and this made the participants to speak for themselves. Although the family roles for the job finding and maintaining of the participants are played in various ways which is positive, effective and specific, there remains some significant problems and limitations. Participants expressed their uncomfortableness in opening their most in-depth thinking and emotions to their family. They have also experienced a great deal of difficulties in maintaining job because of the housework load and child bearing work which is mainly regarded by the family members as the woman's(participant's)duties. In addition to this, sexual needs and sexual identity of the participants are neither recognized nor dealt with seriously in family, The participants also mentioned about the inequal relationships and their self-consciousness among family member as well as the lack of career guidance role of the family. Based on these research findings, we have made a number of suggestions to promote the positive roles and overcome the limited roles of the family.

  • T-DNA insertional mutations in Arabidopsis genes have conferred huge benefits to the research community, greatly facilitating gene function analyses. However, the insertion process can cause chromosomal rearrangements. Here, we show an example of a likely rearrangement following T-DNA insertion in the Anti-Silencing Function 1B (ASF1B) gene locus on Arabidopsis chromosome 5, so that the phenotype was not relevant to the gene of interest, ASF1B. ASF1 is a histone H3/H4 chaperone involved in chromatin remodeling in the sporophyte and during reproduction. Plants that were homozygous for mutant alleles asf1a or asf1b were developmentally normal. However, following self-fertilization of double heterozygotes (ASF1A/asf1a ASF1B/asf1b, hereafter AaBb), defects were visible in both male and female gametes. Half of the AaBb and aaBb ovules displayed arrested embryo sacs with functional megaspore identity. Similarly, half of the AaBb and aaBb pollen grains showed centromere defects, resulting in pollen abortion at the bi-cellular stage of the male gametophyte. However, inheritance of the mutant allele in a given gamete did not solely determine the abortion phenotype. Introducing functional ASF1B failed to rescue the AaBb- and aaBb-mediated abortion, suggesting that heterozygosity in the ASF1B gene causes gametophytic defects, rather than the loss of ASF1. The presence of reproductive defects in heterozygous mutants but not in homozygotes, and the characteristic all-or-nothing pollen viability within tetrads, were both indicative of commonly-observed T-DNA-mediated translocation activity for this allele. Our observations reinforce the importance of complementation tests in assigning gene function using reverse genetics.

  • Objectives : As of 2013, South Korea ranked number one in the world in smartphone penetration rate with 67.6%. Unfortunately, with the rise of smart phone use, side effects such as fraud, loss of personal information, identity theft, formation and widening of a mobile information gap, and last, but not least, smart phone addiction, also increased. Methods : Seventh (7th)graders from a girls' junior high school in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, we reevaluated the Smart phone Addiction Proneness Scale (S-scale). Among the 9 students classified as high risk users, 5 were randomly selected for a study group, and the remaining 4 students, meanwhile, were designated as a control group. The study group received Korean medicine music therapy (KMMT) in a total of 8 sessions, each session lasting 50 minutes. Both pre- and post-interventions, the two groups completed the S-scale, Harris and Harris' concentration grid exercise, STAI, and STAXI-K. We analyzed the data by t-test and paired t-test using IBM SPSS Statistics. Results : KMMT had a significant influence on proneness to smart phone addiction (t=3.130, p=.035). KMMT had positive effects on concentration improvement (t=-2.935, p=.043), trait-anxiety symptoms improvement (t=2,992, p=.040), and anger-expression control (t=4.416, p=.012). Conclusions : KMMT had positive, improving effects on trait anxiety and anger expression, which in turn enhanced the improvement of concentration as well as the decrease of smart phone-addiction proneness.

  • Recently, Android-based mobile devices has increased. Thus increasing market share of the Android operating system. However, in the case of the Android operating system, it has the relatively large number of security vulnerabilities Unlike other closed operating systems. Most Android application requires the identity of the mobile device or over-authorization approval. This information can be a security threat. In addition, in the event of a security problem because obtaining the user's consent during the installation of the application is the user responsible. If these problems persist, loss of reliability of the user operating system, as well as to feel a resistance when using an Android application. In this paper, we investigate a security vulnerability in the Android operating system, and proposed countermeasures.

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate how wives of alcoholics could escape from the co-dependency relationship and recover their ego-subjectivity. This study conducted 1:1 in-depth interviews with five wives of alcoholics in order to achieve the study objective. Data collected from the interviews were analyzed by the phenomenological method proposed by Giorgi[1]. First, researchers extracted five subjects, including 'Co-dependency (Loss of ego-identity)', 'Impoverished life', Ego-prop', Ego-awareness', and 'Ego-subjectivity recovery' in the course of the data analysis. Secondly, researchers identified "Ego-subjectivity recovery through Ego-awareness of a wife of an alcoholic", an essential theme, by integrating all subjects. Researchers, based on the analysis results, proposed practical alternatives for various psychological treatment system and ego-prop like as counselling, family member of alcoholic wives and power of faith.
