Combustion Efficiency Estimation Method of Solid Propellants and the Effects of Grain Shape using Closed Bomb Test (CBT를 이용한 고체 추진제의 연소효율 도출 방법과 그레인 형상의 영향 분석)

  • The estimation method of combustion efficiency has been introduced by using closed bomb test(CBT). The Noble-Abel equation of state was applied to consider the real gas effects to take account of high operation pressure about a couple of 100 atm. of CBT. The heat loss through the CBT wall was considered. The volume change of grain was calculated by applying form functions, which estimated combustion efficiency of 8 different gain shapes. The combustion estimation method proposed in this study was fairly validated by the comparision with the pressure-time history data of the CBT experiments. The effects of both grain shape and propellant loading density were analyzed.

A study on the performance of the perforated tube exhaust muffler (다공형 배기 소음기의 성능에 관한 연구)

  • This study is on the performance of the perforated tube muffler when it operates as an exhaust silencer with through-flow, steady or pulsating. Theoretical estimation of the insertion loss was made by means of transfer matrix and by using the impedance equation for the perforated tube obtained for the case of low-speed steady through-flow. Experiment was performed for the measurement of the insertion loss at two flow conditions. The one is a steady flow from the exhaust pipe of an idling diesel engine. The effect of the through-flow velocity and steadiness on the muffler performance was obtained. By comparing the theoretical prediction with the experimental result, the validity of the impedance equation in the theoretical model was discussed. It has been found that steadiness as well as magnitude of the through-flow has a significant effect on the performance of the perforated tube muffler. Especially, the self-noise due to the pulsating flow in the engine exhaust system must be taken into account for the prediction of the muffler performance.

Therefore, this paper studies process design that can presume risk occurrence frequency and damage scale through distribution of probability.

  • In order to estimate the detection range of a active SONAR system, the SONAR equation is commonly used. In this paper, an algorithm to calculate detection range in active SONAR system as function of SONAR depth and target depth is presented. For given SONAR parameters and environment, the transmission loss and background level are found, signal excess is computed. Using log-normal distribution, signal excess is converted to detection probability at each range. Then, the detection range is obtained by integrating the detection probability as function of range for each depth. The proposed algorithm have been applied to the case of omni-directional source with center frequency 30Hz for summer and winter sound profiles. It is found that the optimal search depth is the source depth since the detection range increase at source depth where the signal excess is maximized.

  • The purpose of the thesis is to develop simulation program for forecasting of optical connector. So we can achieve the time and the money saving for making the optical connector. Optical performance (insertion loss) of optical connector mainly relies on 3 misalignment factors-ferrule factor due to mis-manufacture from design, auto-centering effect that is fiber behavior phenomena between hole and fiber, fiber misalignment factor. Simulation use experimental data with auto-centering effect and fiber factor and use pseudo data with ferrule through random number generation because it is developing stage. In this study we a, pp.y kernel density estimation method with experimental data in order to know whether it belong to or not specific parametric distribution family. And we simulate to forecast insertion loss of optical multifiber connector under specific design model using nonparametric bootstrap resampling data and parametric pseudo samples from uniform distribution. We obtain the tolerance specifications of misalignment factors satisfying not exceed in maximum 1.0dB and choose optimal hole diameter.

  • In this paper, Allard's modelling method which employs the method of acoustic transfer matrix(ATM) is applied to yield more precise results in the analysis of porous sound absorbing material. The method of ATM, based on Biot's theory, is known to play an important role in the estimation of the sound absorption when a sound projects onto the material. In the case of a single layered porous sound absorbing material, the surface impedance and the absorption coefficient by using the method of ATM are estimated. With the variation of the material properties, sound absorption characteristics and analyzed. Transmission Loss in a combination of the porous sound absorbing material with a thin plate is predicted.

  • With the increasing interest of reducing process variation, statistical process control has served the pivotal tool in most industrial quality programs. In this study, system analyses have been performed associated with a cost incorporated version of a process control, a quadratic loss-based X over bar control chart model. Specifically, two issues, the capital/research investments for improvement of a system and the precision of a parameter estimation, have been addressed and discussed. Through the analysis of experimental results, we show that process variability is seen to be one of the most important sources of loss and quality improvement efforts should be directed to reduce this variability. We further derive the results that, even if the optimal designs may be sensitive, the model appears to be robust with regard to misspecification of parameters. The approach and discussion taken in this study provide a meaningful guide for proper process control. We conclude this study with providing general comments.

  • It is to show the problems of the existing techniques to estimate agricultural water demand and to suggest the new methods considering the water demand for non-irrigated area and decrease of water loss in canal. It is to suggest the methods to improve the techniques for estimating agricultural water demand and to analyze the water demand and supply according to the facilities capacity. Until now, the concept of per the unit used to estimate agriculture water demand is useful to estimate demand, but is insufficient to cope with the variations of conditions in future. And the paddy area of government is not realistic against a trend of decrease. Water demand decrease is caused by constructions of irrigation facilities as constructing of irrigation canal, but application loss ratio is fixed. Increase of the water demand owing to the increase of the yield per the unit area is also the actual condition which is not considered. The guide-line must contain these contents for a demand estimate.

  • In view of the rapid development of economics and technology, perilous meteorological and geological conditions often cause natural disasters and result in severe loss of lives and properties in Taiwan. To promote multi-hazard mitigation strategies in an integrated a, pp.oach, the National Science Council established a National Science and Technology Program for Disaster Mitigation in January 1998. This program emphasizes on the implementation of research results in the National Disaster Management System. This paper describes the earthquake loss estimation methodology that is currently developed in Taiwan. Topics of potential earth science hazards (PESH) and building vulnerability analysis are described in detail.

  • In this paper we propose the iteratively reweighted least squares procedure to solve the quadratic programming problem of support vector expectile regression with an asymmetrically weighted squares loss function. The proposed procedure enables us to select the appropriate hyperparameters easily by using the generalized cross validation function. Through numerical studies on the artificial and the real data sets we show the effectiveness of the proposed method on the estimation performances.
