Transverse steel bars are used in the plastic hinge zone of columns to insure adequate confinement, prevention of longitudinal bar buckling and ductile behavior. Fabrication and placement of rectangular hoops and cross-ties in columns are difficult to construct. Details of reinforcement for rectangular section require a lot of rectangular hoops and cross-ties. In this paper, to solve these problems, the new lateral confinement method using oblong hoop is proposed for the transverse confinement of the flared column. It can be the alternative for oblong cross-section and flared column with improved workability and cost-efficiency. The final objectives of this study are to suggest appropriate oblong hoop details and to provide quantitative reference data and tendency for seismic performance or damage assessment based on the drift levels such as residual deformation, elastic strain energy. This paper describes factors of seismic performance such as ultimate displacement/drift ratio, displacement ductility, response modification factor, equivalent viscous damping ratio and effective stiffness.

The interaction between forward mounted propeller and wing in ground effect, and its aerodynamic performance are analyzed by potential flow approximation. A Vortex Lattice Method(VLM) for the propeller analysis and a potential based panel method for the WIG are used together with an image method by assuming the free surface as a rigid wall. The interaction of propeller and wing in the proximity of the ground is taken into account by an iterative procedure where the boundary conditions are satisfied with the given convergence criteria. The program developed is first checked by comparing its numerical results with the experimental data and other numerical results for the propeller MP101-rudder MR21 system. Then, the propeller-WIG interaction and its performance versus ground clearance are investigated by changing parameters such as propeller position, diameter and speed of revolution. It is shown that the forward mounted propeller increases the lift forces of the wing and also enhances the height stability, depending on the design parameter. Therefore, the appropriate selection of the design parameter such as propeller diameter, revolution, the longitudinal and vertical position of propeller is necessary.
This study was purposed to present the basic data on the elderly women's somatotype to develop new briefs design with high body-adaptability. The subjects were 115 elderly women in the 60s and 70s and the factor analysis for 32 directly measured values of the body parts was carried out to sort out the constituent factors of the elderly women's bodies, and finally 4 factors were decided. The first factor was the thickness of the trunk and the degree of the obesity in the center of the width, thickness and circumference. The second factor is the perpendicular size of the body with high loads on the longitudinal direction of the body. The third factor was the leg shape. The last factor was the degree of the sagging hip. The elderly women's somatotype was classified into 3 types. The first type was the 'mean somatotype' with the biggest height and the longest lower half body of the three types. The second type was the 'obese somatotype' with the mean height and length of the lower body and with the largest circumference and width. The last type was the 'skinny somatotype' with the smallest values of all the items in the perpendicular size and the degree of the obesity.
Purpose: A flatfoot that fails to form a longitudinal foot arch is a common lower limb deformity in children. This study evaluated the structural and functional effects of the insole for pediatric flexible flat foot (PFFF). Materials and Methods: Twenty-nine PFFF patients (20 boys and 9 girls, 58 feet) with bilateral symptomatic flatfoot deformities between February 2017 and May 2019 were included in this study. Sixteen patients (32 cases, study group) were treated with a pressured based 3-dimensional printing insole, and 13 patients (26 cases, control group) were followed up regularly without any treatment. Flatfoot was diagnosed by a lateral talo-first metatarsal angle of more than 4° in convex downward and talocalcaneal angles of more than 30° and a calcaneal pitch of less than 20°. The foot pressures, including the midfoot pressure, total foot pressure, and the ratio of the midfoot pressure to the total foot pressure, were evaluated by pedobarography. The clinical scores were assessed using the visual analogue scale (VAS), American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), and Pediatrics Outcomes Data Collection Instrument (PODCI) scores. Results: The mean age of the study group was 9.16 years, and the mean age of the control group was 7.73 years. The mean follow-up period was 16 months. The change in the lateral talocalcaneal angle was -4.664°±1.239° in the study group and -0.484°±1.513° in the control group. A significant difference in the amount of change of the lateral talocalcaneal angle was observed between the two groups (p=0.034). The midfoot pressures were similar in the two groups. Conclusion: Pressure based customized 3-dimensional printing insole in PFFF may have some effect on the hindfoot bony alignment, but it does not affect the changes in midfoot pressure.
Primary function of health record is that as tool of communication between the health processionals with the mutual goal, the promotion of health care standard. Studies have been carried out world over oil tile subject, among those, Weed's Problem-Oriented Health Record is considered a paramount achievement. This study was designed to assess tile possibility of implementing tile problem-oriented health record system through ail experiment in order to provide data for nurse administrators infiltrating reformation of recording system and format. Record of 29 patients admitted at Korea University Hospital, Seoul, from March through June, 1976 for 4 to 14 days were sampled. Nursing notes were recorded by research assistants; senior nursing student trailed extensively by the researcher oil Problem-Oriented Records, oil Problem Oriented Nursing Record format (experimental group) and analysis were carried out comparative, with that of traditional nursing records noted by other nursing personnel (control group) on the same patient. Attitude towards Problem Oriented Nursing Record system and format were attained through questionaries responded by the 51 research assistants. Results are as fellows: Comparative analysis revealed that: 1. Assessment of patients' health problems recorded significantly more in traditional records. 2. Focus of health Problem differed; traditional records slowed significantly higher frequency in medical and procedure as focus while problem oriented records on nursing focus problems. 3. Problem- Oriented records were better organized, Mean value scores of attitude towards Problem- Oriented Records revealed that: Positive value scores on all 4 categories: 1) Assessment of nursing needs, 2) Nursing care planning 3) Patient progress assessment and 4) Tool of teaching and learning revealed that the Problem-Oriented Nursing Record is positively accepted by tile respondents. Recommendation Further experiments on implementation of Problem- Oriented Health Record are recommended: experiment involving all health professionals, in larger scope and longitudinal.
Trust is an essential factor in human relations, as it enables man to accept and also disclose self. Today's health care demands nursing personnel with high level of trust . This study was designed and carried out in May through June, 1976 to measure the level of trust on nurses through the trust scale of Nurses (75- N) made by Kenneth et al. and the Parent Inventory made by Rake and to provide data for management of nursing personnel. 150 junior nursing students, 164 professional nurses from 5 universities and their medical centers and 55 nurse- educators from 8 baccalaureate nursing programs in Seoul were randomly sampled. Results are as follows : 1. The rank order of the level of trust revealed that nurse educators the highest and nursing students the lowest. 2. The level of trust revealed to be influenced by the relationship with parents at the early stages of life ; Group who appeared to have shared intimacy with their parents were the highest. 3. Factors such as ; number of siblings and birth order among them, religious affiliation, parental presence revealed to have had no influence on the level of trust in all three group. 4. No significant difference were revealed between the group who had put their names down on the questionnaire and the others. 5. Clinical specialities of practice revealed to have no signigicant influence on trust in nurses. 6. Marital status revealed to have significant influence : in nurses and nurse- educators, the mastered re vented to have significantly higher level of trust. (difference by Recommendations : 1. A study on trust level of patients and Nurses in Nurse- patient Relationship. 2. A longitudinal study to investigate the influence of Nursing education on the development of trust in Nurses are recommended. 3. A comparative study on trust level of students of Nursing & non- Nursing major.
It has been a long time since the cephalometrics was introduced to orthodontic field for diagnosis and treatment planning, but it's main concern was limited to hard, skeletodental tissue. It is well known that perioral and facial soft tissue determine the position of individual teeth and that the abnormality in size and shape of the soft tissue are able to cause malformed occlusion. Because of our lack of knowledge about resultant morphologic changes in the relationship between skeletal pattern and specific pattern of lingual and facial muscles, we can't help setting greater value on only abnormalities of teeth in the skeletal interrelationship. In a point of view that the orthodontist is dealing primarily with muscular structures around the dentition, the tongue, lips, and cheeks, therefore it may be desirable to estimate these structure and their potential influence on the dentition on developmental and time base. The author hit upon on idea of the aspect above, so studied on the intermaxillary space and tongue space and this study used the data from cephalometric films of 33 male and 40 female subject aged from 6 to 11 years of normal Korean children following results were obtained: 1. Means and standard deviation of Korean children were obtained. 2. Yearly increment of each variables were obtained. 3. There is the correlationship more than average among the variables except posterior intermaxillary height item. 4. There are differences between male children and female children in all variables except posterior intermaxillary space item. 5. All variables increased as the age increased except posterior intermaxillary height item of male children.
To investigate the relationship between the pubertal spurt in body height and bone maturity of the hand-and-wrist in normal occlusion, the author X-rayed the hand-and-wrists of 1,141 students (male 614, female 527) and assessed their bone maturity. In this study, eleven skeletal stages were selected. The bones used to determine skeletal maturity were the ulnar sesamoid of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the first finger, the epiphyses of the proximal, middle, distal phalanges of the third finger, and middle phalanx of the fifth finger, and distal epiphysis of the radius. From the longitudinal data for height, an assessment was made of the change in growth velocity. The pubertal growth stage was divided into onset and peak height velocity phases. The results were as follows; 1. The onset of the pubertal growth was between the $PP_3=\;and\;MP_3=$ stage for boys, and between the $MP_3=\;and\;MP_5=$ stage for girls; the mean age of onset was 10.6 years for boys and 9.0 years for girls. 2. The peak height velocity was between the S and $MP_{3_{cap}}$ stage for boys, and between the $MP_{3_{cap}}$ and $MP_{5_{cap}}$ stage for girls; the mom age of peak height velocity was 12.5 years for boys and 10.9 years for girls. 3. As the stages of bone maturity progressed from $DP_{3u},\;to\;PP_{3u},\;MP_{3u}$, Ru, the peak height velocity had been reached, and the growth rate retarded, therefore the approach to full physical maturity was attained. 4. The evidence for the period of onset, peak height velocity and bone maturation suggested that girls were in advance of boys. During the latter part of pubertal growth, the rate of boys' bone maturation was faster than that of girls'.
Postponing childbirth is becoming increasingly common and consequently serious social problem in Korea, among married-working women. It is relatively unknown which factors determine married-working women's childbirth intention. This study investigated the effects of demographical factors, labor market factors and social support factors on married-working women's childbirth intention. Data from a national survey of married-working women (Korean longitudinal survey of women and families) are used in this study. The findings are as follows. First, logistic regression analyses that married-working women's childbirth intention could be predicted by 1) personal characteristic factors such as age (p <.000), education level (p<.029), parenthood (p<.000) monthly pay (p<.01); 2) husband support factors, such as satisfaction with division of household labor (p<.009), time with family (p<.049) influence of family life on work (p<.083); and 3) institutional support factors such as regular position (p<.015), regression analysis showed similar results. Personal characteristic factors and husband support factors had statistically significant effects on the number of future children. Personal value factors such as traditional family support (p<.05) proved to be the best predictor of the number of future children. Institutional support factors, on the other hand, did not have statistically significant effect on the number of future children. In a nutshell, personal characteristics and husband support proved to be the most important determinant of married-working women's childbirth intention. The findings suggest that family friendly policy and flexible labor market policy will impact married-working women's childbirth intention.

Splice of reinforcement is inevitable in reinforced concrete structures and, generally, lap splices are used. Lap length for tension splice is determined from development length in tension. The development length is calculated from an experimental model which was based on data of tests on anchorage and splice. Longitudinal reinforcements in flexural members are deformed and, therefore, prying action happens in spliced reinforcements unlike anchored reinforcements. The prying action induces tensile stress in cover concrete and this tensile stress plays the same role to a circumferential tensile stress caused by bond. Because splitting failure is assumed to occur when the summation of tensile stresses caused by the prying action and the bond is equal to the tensile strength of the concrete, the prying action reduces the bond strength of spliced reinforcements. A theoretical model for the prying action is developed and effects of the prying action on the bond strength are assessed. The tensile stress by the prying action is proportional to tensile strength and modulus of elasticity of reinforcements. In addition, the tensile stress is inversely proportional to spacing of reinforcements. Consequently, longer splice length is required for spliced reinforcements with small spacing in flexible members.
