  • By committing to a long-term replenishment contract, suppliers can mitigate the pressure to find new customers and afford to charge a discounted price to buyers seeking to lower their purchasing costs. In this paper, we develop an analytical model from buyer's perspective for the contracting process to investigate the buyer-supplier interactions. Based on the developed model, we propose an algorithm to derive optimal strategy for the contract. We consider a system with a single buyer and a supplier in a situation where the buyer's inventory is controlled by (R, S) policy under VMI setting. According to the contract, the supplier should replenish the buyer's inventory up to a fixed level every R times during a specified period. The buyer purchases any deficient amount from a spot market at a higher price. We show by computational experiment that our proposed algorithm finds the global optimum solution.

  • This study constructed a family life education program designed to help divorced parents. The purpose of this research was to develop long term education program for post-divorce adjustment. This program is consisted of 6 sessions aiming for understanding the grief process for adults and the six station of divorce, the recovery through forgiveness, children's response to divorce and coping strategy, the opened mind of parent-child relation, enhancing the self-esteem, the healthy single parent. We expect this program to be helpful in helping divorced parents'post-divorce adjustment, improving parent-child relation and helping future life of divorced parents.

  • This paper has studied whether cultural factors have an effect on privacy concern of Internet users in Korea and China. The result has shown that power distance, individualism, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation are positively related to privacy concern, while masculinity is negatively related to privacy concern. This study has also found some similarities and differences between the two countries. First, privacy concern of Korean Internet users is significantly higher than that of Chinese users. Second, individualism and uncertainty avoidance significantly affect privacy concern in both Korea and China, although individualism in Korea has stronger effect than that in China. Third, long term orientation has a significant effect in only Korea while power distance is significant only in China. These results suggest that an online company doing businesses in multiple countries should have country-specific privacy policies to deal with the privacy concern of Internet users in different countries.

  • This study intends to link agricultural machine history data with related organizations or collect them through IoT sensors, receive input from agricultural machine users and managers, and analyze them through AI algorithms. Through this, the goal is to track and manage the history data throughout all stages of production, purchase, operation, and disposal of agricultural machinery. First, LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) is used to estimate oil consumption and recommend maintenance from historical data of agricultural machines such as tractors and combines, and C-LSTM (Convolution Long Short-Term Memory) is used to diagnose and determine failures. Memory) to build a deep learning algorithm. Second, in order to collect historical data of agricultural machinery, IoT sensors including GPS module, gyro sensor, acceleration sensor, and temperature and humidity sensor are attached to agricultural machinery to automatically collect data. Third, event-type data such as agricultural machine production, purchase, and disposal are automatically collected from related organizations to design an interface that can integrate the entire life cycle history data and collect data through this.

  • There has been a stream of literature studying moderators of the relationship between organizational ambidexterity and firm performance, but there remains a lack of research on moderators with a strategic perspective. We examined the effect of organizational ambidexterity on a firm's long-term performance and the moderating effect of a firm's relative exploration and exploitation based on a sample of 8,916 firms. We found a positive relationship between organizational ambidexterity and long-term performance measured by Tobin's q. The results also suggest that a firm's relative exploration positively moderates the relationship between organizational ambidexterity and long-term performance, whereas exploitation negatively moderates this relationship. We contribute to the current ambidexterity literature by integrating it with strategy literature. We found that the positive relationship between organizational ambidexterity and long-term performance is enlarged and long-lasting when a firm is a differentiator. In contrast, this positive relationship is lessened and short-lasting when a firm is a cost-leader.

  • The effects of long-term fertilization on soil biological properties and microbial community structure in the plough layer in a rice paddy soil in southern Korea were investigated in relation to the continuous application of chemical fertilizers (NPK), straw based compost (Compost), combination these two (NPK + Compost) for last 40 years. No fertilization plot (Control) was installed for comparison. Though fertilization significantly improved rice productivity over control, the long-term fertilization of NPK and compost combination was more effective on increasing rice productivity and soil nutrient status than single application of compost or chemical fertilizer. All fertilization treatments had shown significant improvement in soil microbial properties, however, continuous compost fertilization markedly increased soil enzyme and microbial activities as compared to sole chemical fertilization. Results of microbial community structure, evaluated by EL-FAME (ester-linked fatty acid methyl esters) method, revealed big difference among Control, NPK, and Compost. However, both Compost and Compost+NPK treatments belonged to the same cluster after statistical analysis. The combined application of chemical fertilizer and organic amendments could be more rational strategy to improve soil nutrient status and promote soil microbial communities than the single chemical fertilizer or compost application.

  • Maintenance of deteriorated bridge structures has always been one of the challenging issues in developing countries as it is directly related to daily life of people including trade and economy. An effective maintenance strategy is highly dependent on timely inspections on the bridge health condition. This study is intended to investigate an approach for detecting bridge damage for the long-term health monitoring by use of copula theory. Long-term measured data for the seven-span plate-Gerber bridge is investigated. Autoregressive time series models constructed for the observed accelerations taken from the bridge are utilized for the computation of damage indicator for the bridge. The copula model is used to analyze the statistical changes associated with the modal parameters. The changes in the modal parameters with the time are identified by the copula statistical properties. Applicability of the proposed method is also discussed based on a comparison study among other approaches.

  • Following the methodology of Ben-Rephael, Kadan and Wohl (2015), this paper examines whether firm-level liquidity premium exists and whether the premium exhibits a long-term trend in the Korean stock market. The results show that over the whole sample period (1998-2018), a liquidity premium of 0.083% exists in the cross-section of stocks. Interestingly, the pricing of liquidity declines significantly over the sample period. Sub-period analysis indicates that liquidity is priced mainly in the first sub-period (1998-2004) with a significant monthly premium of 0.304%, while the pricing of liquidity becomes weaker or insignificant in the second (2005-2011) and the third (2012-2018) period. I also find that the significance of the liquidity premium in the first period is attributed to small stocks. To explore underlying reasons that might affect the decline in the liquidity premium, I decompose liquidity premium into the product of firm-level liquidity and the sensitivity of expected stock returns on liquidity. The results reveal that the long-term decline is explained by both an increase in firm-level liquidity and a decrease in the sensitivity of expected returns on liquidity.

  • In this paper, the author analyzed the PCI (Physical Cell Identification) allocation methods in the LTE (Long Term Evolution) SON (Self Organization Network) environment. A variety of techniques have been proposed for how to allocate PCI, and the LTE standard fundamentally explained that collision between a cell and neighbor cells arise while a cell assign the PCI. Therefore, in this paper, the author examined the scenarios of PCI collision, weak collision, and confusion proposed by LTE specification. In addition, the cell central approach and the distributed approach were discussed as solutions for each scenario. In this paper, the author reviewed the approach of graphic coloring technique which was studied recently and explained the strategy of central approach.
