  • For the development of hydrazine decomposition catalyst, Hot-fire test to verify performance of catalyst is required. The purpose of a long-life firing test is to demonstrate the capability of a design to perform for the maximum duration or cycles of operation. This paper describes the progress of the catalyst performance test, explains the test matrix, and presents the test results.

  • Recently, lots of research are going on relation to Improving the Flexibility through all of construction I industry in that space, materials, structure, construction method, etc. The style , space and pattern of housing have been changing by reason that satisfying change of residential environment at the needs of the times, transformation of future-oriented construction trend and recognition of demand-oriented. Therefore, this study should suggest alternations through comparing and analyzing to construction factor of improving the Flexibility, and then should show direction and guideline for realizing actual a long life housing at the next generation through applicable and various classification examples in apartment housing.

  • In general, fatigue analysis is performed by using deterministic model to estimate the optimal parameters. However, the deterministic model is difficult to clearly describe the physical phenomena of fatigue failure that contains many uncertainty factors. With regard to this, efforts have been made in this research to compare with the deterministic model and the stochastic models. Firstly, One deterministic S-N curve was derived from ordinary least squares technique and two P-S-N curves were estimated through Bayesian-linear regression model and Markov-Chain Monte Carlo simulation. Secondly, the distribution of Long-term fatigue damage and fatigue life were predicted by using the parameters obtained from the three methodologies and the long-term stress distribution.

  • The failure mechanism and failure morphology of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) tubing under hydrostatic pressure were investigated. Microscopic observations using video microscope and scanning electron microscope indicate that the failure mode is a brittle fracture including cracks propagated from inner wall to outer wall. In addition, oxidation induction time and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy results show the presence of exothermic peak and the increase in carbonyl index on the surface of fractured LLDPE tubing, due to thermal-degradation. An accelerated life test methodology and testing system for LLDPE tubing are developed using the relationship between stresses and life characteristics by means of thermal acceleration. Statistical approaches using the Arrhenius model and Weibull distribution are implemented to estimate the long-term life time of LLDPE tubing under hydrostatic pressure. Consequently, the long-term life time of LLDPE tubing at the operating temperature of $25^{\circ}C$ could be predicted and also be analyzed.

  • The life insurance industry is interested in various factors that influence the long-term extensions of insurance contracts such as the necessity for the advisors' long-term management of consumers, product consulting, and improvement of the investment aspects. This paper investigates important factors leading to a long-term contract that forms an important part of the life insurance industry in Korea. For this purpose we used the data of contents (i.e., data from Jan 1, 2011 to Dec 31, 2016) of the contracts of xxx insurance company. In this paper, we present how to select important variables to influence the duration of the contract maintenance via a penalized Cox's proportional hazards (PH) modelling approach using insurance life data. As the result of analysis, we found that the selected important factors were the advisor's status, the reward type 2 (annuity insurance) and tendency 4 (safety-pursuing type).

  • The high temperature creep behavior of heat machine systems such as aircraft engines, boilers and turbines in power plants and nuclear reactor components have been considered as an important and needful fact. There are considerable research results available for the design of high temperature tube materials in power plants. However, few studies on the Initial Strain Method (ISM) capable of securing repair, maintenance, cost loss and life loss have been made. In this method, 3 long time prediction Of high temperature creep characteristics can be dramatically induced through a short time experiment. The purpose of present study is to investigate the high temperature creep lift of Udimet 720, SCM 440-STD61 and 1Cr-0.5Mo steel using the ISM. The creep test was performed at 40$0^{\circ}C$ to $700^{\circ}C$ under a pure loading. In the prediction of creep life for each materials, the equation of ISM was superior of Larson-Miller Parameter(LMP). Especially, the long time prediction of creep life was identified to improve the reliability.

Internal Property and Stochastic Deterioration Modeling of Total Pavement Condition Index for Transportation Asset Management (도로자산관리를 위한 포장종합평가지수의 속성과 변화과정의 모델링)

  • PURPOSES : This study is aimed at development of a stochastic pavement deterioration forecasting model using National Highway Pavement Condition Index (NHPCI) to support infrastructure asset management. Using this model, the deterioration process regarding life expectancy, deterioration speed change, and reliability were estimated. METHODS : Eight years of Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) data fused with traffic loads (Equivalent Single Axle Loads; ESAL) and structural capacity (Structural Number of Pavement; SNP) were used for the deterioration modeling. As an ideal stochastic model for asset management, Bayesian Markov multi-state exponential hazard model was introduced. RESULTS:The interval of NHPCI was empirically distributed from 8 to 2, and the estimation functions of individual condition indices (crack, rutting, and IRI) in conjunction with the NHPCI index were suggested. The derived deterioration curve shows that life expectancies for the preventive maintenance level was 8.34 years. The general life expectancy was 12.77 years and located in the statistical interval of 11.10-15.58 years at a 95.5% reliability level. CONCLUSIONS : This study originates and contributes to suggesting a simple way to develop a pavement deterioration model using the total condition index that considers road user satisfaction. A definition for level of service system and the corresponding life expectancies are useful for building long-term maintenance plan, especially in Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) work.

Creep Life Prediction of Elevated Temperature Materials for Pressure Vessel by ISM (ISM에 의한 압력용기용 고온재료의 크리프 수명예측)

  • In this paper, friction welding optimization for 1Cr0.5Mo-STS304 (${\phi}14\;mm$), AE applications for the weld quality evaluation and the applications of various life prediction methods such as LMP (Larson-Miller Parameter) and ISM (initial strain method) were investigated : The creep behaviors of those steels and the friction welded joints under static load were examined by ISM combined with LMP at 400, 500, 550 and $600^{\circ}C$, and the relationship between these two kinds of phenomena was studied. The real-time predicting equations of elevated-temperature creep life (rupture time) under any creep stress at any elevated-temperature could be developed by LMP and LMP-ISM. It was confirmed that the life prediction equations by LMP and LMP-ISM are effective only up to 102 h and can not be used for long times of 103-106 h, but by ISM it can be used for long times creep prediction of more than 104 h with most reliability.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide the fundamental data for the gradual apartment management plan. Through the questionnaire survey, residential satisfactions and maintenance consciousness were investigated. As the result of statistic analysis, the residents' needs for improvement according to the life span of apartment communities were found out. And we can also compare the differences about maintenance consciousness to the life span of apartment. The major research findings are as follows. First, the satisfaction averages according to the life span of apartment communities were classified two groups, less than 10 years' and over than 10 years'. By the requirement for improvement according as the life span apartment communities, habitability factors was demanded in less tham 10 years' group and safety factors was required in over than 10 years' group, Second, dwellers have high preference about remodeling to reconstruction. Especially we have to pay attention to the result that positive consciousness of remodeling and long term reparative marked highly in the group which has the short elapsed years. These results represent the possibility gradual step-by-step remodeling. In other words, the object of remodeling is not only odeteriorated apartments but also new apartments to have short elapsed years.
