  • Reverse logistics is the process of planning and controlling the recovery flow of end of life products. Industry is increasingly being confronted with the need to solve several reverse logistics issues because of not only stringent environmental legislations but also economic reasons. Recently, thanks to the advent of emerging technologies, such as RFID, enhancing the productivity of reverse logistics operations has been highlighted. The application of RFID technology is going beyond forward logistics, which is the delivery of manufactured goods to consumers, and being expanded, though not frequently yet, to reverse logistics, which includes return, recovery, reuse, reproduction and disposal. However, it requires a deep insight for the research of reverse logistics and new environment. In this regard, we studied effectiveness by applying RFID middleware technology to reverse logistics.

  • Resource procurement and material handling are considered as a significant part of construction project especially in large or tall building construction site. There are multiple variables that must be considered in a construction site during finishing work such as movement of materials, equipments, and workers. Therefore, it is difficult for construction workers to find the material handling path solely by intuition. The aim of this study is to propose a real-time path finding model suitable for complicated logistics flow in the field. The model explores the optimal transport path of finishing material with its basis on optimization algorithm, and it determines the direction of the Smart Sign. The proposed model is expected to be utilized for planning of efficient finishing material handling.

  • It is needed to develop on-line real time management and RFID-PPS(Radio Frequency Identification-Pallet Pool System) by putting information technology. Additionally, it is possible to figure out the flow of all the materials loaded on the RFID pallet; product, material, raw material immediately, so that epoch-making management is possible and it contributes to the reduction of logistics cost because there are little loss or outflow of pallet. The materials flow is getting speedy and inventory is decreasing in the logistics process, and also bad inventory and loss problems are prevented. As a result, not only logistics cost of company but also national logistics cost is decreased. Thus it contributes to the strength of national competitiveness.

  • This paper considers the problem of determining the cargo flow and the transportation mode in each trade route while satisfying the demand. Especially, the problem incorporates short sea shipping in Korea, which is becoming more important in order to improve efficiency of Logistics. The objective is to minimize the sum of shipping and inland transportation costs. To solve optimally the problem, this paper employs a linear programming model, which is an operations research technique for optimization. The problem is formulated by extending the well-known network design problem by considering capacity at seaport and limitation of total number of vehicles. The model is solved using CPLEX, a commercial linear program software. The test results using a real cargo flow data in Korea show that the model represents closely the real situation.

  • Is not used by consistency transport at transport of freight nothing but is using Pallet only by pedestal when work palletized unit load or materials handling when keep simplicity receptacle which fill raw material or product in factory in our country. Therefore, pallet that is most important function of Pallet is not empled circulation to end consumer from manufacturing plant which is circulation process whole path being done and factory. It is real condition stopping only in extremely determinate part process use of warehouse back. Additionally, it is possible to figure out the flow of all the materials loaded on the RFID pallet; product, material, raw material immediately, so that epoch-making management is possible and it contributes to the reduction of logistics cost because there are little loss or outflow of pallet. • Global firms are seeking to implement their global logistics strategies in two ways: the use of centralized inventories and/or postponement of final assembly. These strategies stress the importance of regional logistics centers. In most cases, regional logistics centers are located in or near ports so that changing demands can be met with economy, reliability and flexibility, The port can profit not only from the activities of logistics center itself, but also the increasing flow of cargo through the logistics center. A number of ports respond to this trend by shifting their emphasis from traditional cargo-handling services to value-added services. This paper presents guidelines drawn from the best practices of ports to be successful logistics centers to provide many aspects of value-added logistics services. These include: Effective Planning and Development of Logistics Centers; Institutional Incentive Scheme; Development of Free Trade Zones; Financing Infrastructure related to Logistics Centers; Developing Logistics Service Providers and Logistics Professionals; Development of Information Technology; and Regulatory and Administrative Issues. These guidelines will help managers of ports and policy makers of governments in the East Asian region learn to recognize, analyze and adopt the best practices for use.

  • This study presents an ida on establishing “International Logistics Centre” in Korean Peninsula as a ling-term development model for Korean economy. The essence of this idea is to build a “specialized logistics area” where logistics and human being flow freely and make it a logistics center for the East Asia. The study has performed a questionnaire survey to find out the competitiveness of Korea itself compared with some competing countries. It finally suggested some idea on how to establish successful “International Logistics Centre”.

  • At the present, e-commerce takes the place of existing transaction form in structure in the world trade by advancement of Information Technology and diffusion of Internet. There is no exceptions of this tendency even in industry of maritime and logistics. So, global shipping lines and logistics companies try to construct the e-Business network system for increasing their competitiveness in an are of cyber. However, in Korea, most of companies prefer "final handshake" as the traditional way of transaction to "e-commerce", because they bear a distrust in mind about the outflow of transaction information and security of settlement. So, number of companies using e-commerce is very small, and this situation causes the limited factor for activating the transaction structure of it. The rate of using e-commerce in logistics industry is lower than other industries, even more higher effectiveness is expected when they use it. Especially, it is very necessary not only e-commerce but also e-Logistics which can serve information of freight cost on cargo flow, operation cost and schedule, and tracing information of cargo. Increasing the necessity of e-Logistics, this study research the rate rf using e-Logistics focused on maritime and logistics companies, and analyze the transaction form among members of these industries for improving them. In detail, this paper examine the drivers for activating e-Logistics, and present the effective factors for a successful development of these industries.

  • Recently, it's a trend that the third party outsourcing logistics will be increased a logistics flow from law material to final products. The government also works on promoting logistics company as securing the expertise for strengthen logistics industry and secure competitiveness. Nevertheless, logistics market have been divided by polarization between small logistics company and major company. Also a labor who work for logistics is being caused by worsened working conditions. That is one of results of the survey. Almost 50% of response are they have not been aware of FTA and have not known to need the FTA. Many respondents said that entering the overseas logistics or a new way like FTA will be difficult to take part in. Therefore I suggest several examples in this paper to encourage a vitalization of small logistics company through the multilateral FTA. Now our country needs to make an effort to maximize connections between multilateral FTA and policy effect by signing FTA with many countries and extending Economic territory. This effect can completely cope with the improvement of economic interests, establishing regional integration strategy and change of global supply chain. Therefore, a small business logistics have to make their competitiveness & a new dealing market in the future.

  • Resent East Asian economic growth has lead the increase of global trade volume and global logistics to the level of full-scale development as aiming to have quantitative growth in world trades in one hand and increasing mutual dependence among the East Asian Economic Bloc on the other. In other words, East Asian economic current growth is going along as connecting with 2 different process that are the increase of global trade volume and the technical development of global logistics system. And mutual dependence among the East Asian Economic Bloc shows the deepening trend in production and consumption. While having the flow of expansion in East Asian trade volume and logistics network in mind, this paper will study on trend in East Asian intra-trade and then study on change & tasks in the East Asian Logistics system.
