  • Over the last several decades, the topic of the source selection and evaluation has gained a great attention in the information systems community as an effective tool to acquire information systems in an organization. The source selection and evaluation process is a multiple-criteria decision-making problem associated with several evaluation issues. In this case study, evaluation issues include management, technologies, logistics, and cost. This case study was conducted to compare a new source selection and evaluation process by using the analytic hierarchy process with the traditional approach. This study provides useful insight about how to apply the analytic hierarchy process technique to the traditional approach.

  • This paper focuses on the recent extraordinary growth of Chinese cross-border online shopping and draws implications for firm strategies and government policies in Korea to utilize the phenomenon as an opportunity to expand into a broader market via e-commerce exports. I conduct a survey of Chinese cross-border online consumers to identify constraining and determining factors during the stages of their purchase decisions of Korean products. Given the fact that Chinese cross-border online shopping is at the incipient stage and consumers have expressed a strong intent to repurchase, future strategies should focus on attracting new consumers. Accordingly, Korean firms should build a powerful brand image, improve product quality and post-purchase services, and take full advantage of the popularity of the Korean Wave. Meanwhile, the government must step up policy efforts by, for instance, improving e-commerce export statistics, simplifying logistics and clearance procedures, and building trust in Chinese consumers.

  • Many countries in the North East Asia are competing with each other in order to become a centre of international logistics activities. The competition to become a hub port in Far East region is now fierce. The anticipated investments on improving port facilities and attracting the mega carriers are immense for all the ports in the region and the extent of the effort could cripple the local ports and region's economy given the limited financial resources. It is, however, impossible to avoid the disastrous possibility that the massive investments could be channeled into the port, which will never become a hub port, as no port is ready to currently admit defeat and settle as a small regional port. In an attempt to minimise such disastrous waste of resources, ports need to verify the eligibility of their own. This paper tests a system dynamics model using the Port of Busan to understand and illustrate the principle guideline of investment decision making for ports.

  • Various problems on logistics systems have been dealt with recently as research issues since they were regarded critical for taking up a better position in the increasingly competitive global market. In particular, the freight transportation is considered as a key factor which affects the economic competitiveness of a whole nation as well as the production cost of individual companies. The objective of this study is to identify main issues and review recent foreign and domestic studies related to the freight transportation. The studies are classified into two categories according to the hierarchical level in the decision making process: infra structure design and transportation strategies, service design and operation. Main issues are introduced with a brief review on the related literature and methodologies applied.

  • Supplier selection process is one of the most important arenas of production and logistics management for many companies. This study explores the application of the analytic network process (ANP) approach for the evaluation of suppliers based on several different evaluation criteria. The ANP approach in this study is capable of providing priorities of suppliers that capture network relationships among several evaluation criteria which are not independent. Therefore this study provides value to practitioners by providing a generic model for supplier selection. In addition, for researchers, it demonstrates further research possibilities for more complex decision making problems using ANP.

  • Now, many studies of industrial field are focusing on the whole optimization of SCM. But, the reason for making simultaneity of the whole system of SCM difficult is reduced scale of studies on ordering area in SCM reducing the complexity. It's an important issue how to allocate orders in the environment of many suppliers under special situation. Through this thesis, this research intends to expect systematic and arranged supply of distribution area which can make a decision while allocating product orders and quantity and maintaining service standard suggested by minimizing total purchase costs.

  • From the simulation results, under the collaborative platform of big data based on coordination of the beer industry to mobilize the supply chain operation condition, supply chain direct logistics inventory are in a relatively stable value, and there is no zero inventory or even a serious lack of beer in the stock situations like traditional beer supply chain operation, which avoid the situation of demand information expansion caused by chain inventory levels report because of the serious lack of supply.

  • There is a possibility of failure as a result of field application in the planning and execution process to change the operating policy for operating terminals, so a lot of time and effort are required to reduce trial and error. In the planning stage to change the terminal operation policy, simulation technology can be used to support decision making. This study introduces a case of using a virtual terminal system among simulation technologies.

  • This study aims to analyze the importance of activating factors in the companies operating in the free trade zone of Pyeongtaek Port by using hierarchical analytical decision making method and suggest implications according to the analysis results. As a result of analyzing the importance of the five factors, it was found that most of the companies in the free trade zone of Pyeongtaek Port were aware of the infrastructure factor (0.330), finance and budget (0.223), organization and operation (0.188), manpower (0.119) in order of importance. In detail, the expansion of the route was recognized as the most important improvement. and Manufacturing companies were judged to be a more important factor in improving the entry conditions of manufacturers and strengthening the distribution of value added. In logistics companies, the importance of manpower is higher than manufacturing companies. The implications for the results of the analysis are diversification of route in Pyeongtaek Port, improvement of the infrastructure near the free trade zone, and The need for institutional improvements. Also, in the future, we suggest the necessity of activation research for non - residents.

  • Modeling and Simulation (M&S) systems which deal with situational complexity often require human involvement due to the high-level decision-making that is necessary for ship movement, navigation, control center management, shipping company logistics, meteorological system information, and maritime transportation GIS. In order to properly simulate maritime traffic, it is necessary to accurately model the human decision-making process of the ship officer, including aspects of the ship officer's behavioral tendencies, personal navigation experience, and pattern of voyage errors, as this is the most accurate way in which to reproduce and predict realistic maritime traffic conditions. In this paper, which looks at agent-based maritime traffic simulation, we created a basic survey in order to conduct behavior analysis on ship operators' collision avoidance strategies. Using the information gathered throughout the survey, we developed an agent-based navigational behavior model which attempts to capture the behavioral patterns of a ship officer during an instance of ship collision. These results could be used in the future in further developments for more advanced maritime traffic simulation.
