  • The development of information communication technology leads the growth of logistic industry including delivery service as well as electronic commerce. The researchers predict that it will be still improving for the next several years. The logistic information system of railroad courier has been growing for a long time with small-package delivery transportation which is similar to the land-road delivery system. Despite of the long-time growth, it is recently in pain of the great loss since the 1990's, due to the failure to satisfy the customer's need for door-to-door delivery service. But the logistic information system of railroad still has the great potential. There are so many benefits such as timeliness, Punctuality, speed, multi-node storage base, transportation efficiency, energy frugality, environmental sociability, and so on. If the railroad logistic system plays a role of a portion of the nation-wide logistic with other logistic system, the synergy through the balancing logistic will also get much of international competitive advantages. So the objective of this research is to design the model and prototype of the web-based logistic system from which railroad service provider(Korean National Railroad), delivery service providers, and the customers can share the best effective delivery information.

  • The main transportation mode of long distance inter-city passenger trips is high-speed rail and the modal share of transportation has been changed profoundly since the KTX service has been started in the Kyung-Bu railroad transportation corridor in the day of 1 April, 2004. After an opening of KTX service in the second stage Kyung-Bu and Ho-Nam railroad transportation corridors, a capacity of incumbent railroads will be increased and operational environments of freight train will be improved. The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of KTX service operation on the national logistics thoroughly. This paper establishes a deceptive scheme in the national railroad logistic transportation and a route operational strategy between the main origins and destinations efficiently considering the changes of the current freight transportation system in the future. We expect to achieve efficiency of logistic transportation in this paper through alternative routes for example Ho-Nam, Chang-Hang, Seo-Hae line.

A Study on the Factors Affecting E-logistics Systems in the Chinese Logistics Industry

  • With the rapid growth of e-logistics in the global logistics industry, it is important to gain further insight into this growing segment of Chinese logistics industry. The current situation in China consists of many small and medium-sized logistics firms. Furthermore, e-logistics is still relatively undeveloped in the majority of the Chinese logistics companies and presently there are still many problems unresolved. This paper attempted to review the concepts and theoretical background of e-logistics systems from previous studies. After acknowledging the essential issues related to e-logistics systems, a research model based on the theory acceptance model was designed and tested. The key factors to the e-logistics system (reliability, maintainability, software, facility and transportation) were validated through the modeling and testing process. Included in the modelling and testing process are other related factors of e-logistics process, logistics information system and added value as dependent variables in this model. The results of this study confirm that the e-logistics Process is affected by transportation, while maintainability and software factors influence logistics information system. reliability, maintainability, facility and transportation are significant factors associated with added value. This research aimed to provide theoretical and practical contribution to Chinese logistics companies and to give some insights into e-logistics system as a whole. The paper also provided some useful theoretical implication and practical guidelines for the development of e-logistics system in the chinese logistics industry.

  • Enormous stocks by the reduced life cycle of products caused by the technological innovation in later 20 century, development of new materials and diversified demands of customers appeared as the pressing element causing the trouble in management of companies, and when considering the logistic costs that are imposed to companies in terms of function, the costs related to the stock topped the list of costs, followed by the transportation ones, and for pallet pool system, inventory of stocks is very difficult by the number of companies. Reducing the logistic cost may be accomplished by numbers of logistic management methods, but the most fundamental and essential one is the accomplishment of the consistent pallet system that is the core of unit load system, and the purpose of consistent pallet system is the treatment of logistic functions such as transportation, storage and unloading with consistent pallet system, and increasing the turnover ratio is required for the improvement of the system. As the turnover ratios is increased, more pallets will be used so, numbers of empty pallets will be increased accordingly by returning the pallet. Therefore, in this study, we will establish the effective stock management system by comparing with the other existing stock management system after looking at the concept and examples of pallet full system in order to resolved this kind of problem.

  • Innovations in the procurement logistics now is very popular in Kazakhstan. Nowadays there are a lot of documents of transport infrastructure and Kazakhstan logistic system is developing more and more. Procurement logistic is the direction where you can count, sometimes you can buy some products or transport equipments. Logistic in Kazakhstan is new direction, there are a lot of young people who choose this specialty and will stay demanded. Our president said a lot of words in strategies about development in logistics and so there will be new methods that will be used here. Innovations are new technologies that are used in different spheres so this structure as procurement logistic will develop in Kazakhstan and every citizen of our republic will support it. Transport systems are used for transitions different products so there are a lot new transition roads for example Western China - Western Europe; Astana-Almaty; Astana-Ust-Kamenogorsk; Astana-Aktobe, Atyrau; Almaty - Ust-Kamenogorsk; Karaganda - Zhezkazgan - Kyzylorda; Atyrau-Astrakhan, it helps Kazakhstan to support international links between other countries.

Novel Driving Mechanism of the Next Generation Transportation Systems for Revival of Railroad Logistics (철도물류 활성화를 위한 차세대 물류운송 시스템의 새로운 구동방식에 관한 연구)

  • Many advanced nations have been developing the next generation logistic systems to effectively deal with gradually increased logistic flows over the world. Particularly, dual mode trailer(DMT) systems are significantly focused as a new alternative transportation which basically provides integrating of the land and railroad services. This paper presents new driving mechanism for DMT systems using the hydraulic pressure cylinder systems. Such is mechanically composed of supporting and rotating parts independently, which are mostly important for whole system performance. We analyze feasible operational problem occurred in driving mechanism from the conventional DMT systems and compare our proposed deign specification with the Modalohr DMT system to demonstrate its reliability and practicability.
