  • In this paper, the performance of stepped serial search scheme and matched filter scheme for code acqusition in FH / CDMA are evaluated under land mobile radio communication channel environments. And delay lock loop scheme is used as code tracking system. As the results for code acquisition system, it is shown that the performance of stepped searial scheme is superior to matched filter scheme, because system complexity is reduced and system performance is improved by increasing the hopping frequency not to substitute for special hardware. Also, it is shown that its performance is improved under Rayleigh/ Rician fading environments. As the results for code tracking system, it is found that mean hold time is increased due to the increase of the number of lock state and hopping frequency, M.

  • In this paper, frequency synthesizer for radar system is designed and developed. Optimizing the phase noise and lock time, each module is designed as two-type PLL circuit, and then the performance of PLL frequency synthesizer is compared. The experiment result shows the lock time of 70 usec, the phase noise of less then 100 dBc, the bandwidth above 500MHz.

  • Numerical calculations are carried out for flow past a circular cylinder forced oscillating normal to the free-stream flow at a fixed Reynolds number equal to 185. The cylinder oscillation frequency ranged from 0.8 to 1.2 of the natural vortex-shedding frequency, and the oscillation amplitude extended up to 20% of the cylinder diameter. IBM (Immersed Boundary Method) with direct momentum forcing was adopted to handle both of a stationary and an oscillating cylinder Present results such as time histories of drag and lift coefficients for both stationary and oscillating cases are in good agreement with previous numerical and experimental results. The instantaneous wake patterns of oscillating cylinder with different oscillating frequency ratios showed the synchronized wakes pattern in the lock-in region and vortex switching phenomenon at higher frequency ratio than the critical frequency ratio.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility on the detection of dental composite delamination using a lock-in thermography method. Amplitude and phase images of detected thermal signals were analyzed according to the lock-in frequencies. At a lock-in frequency of 0.05 Hz, the ligament thickness of 0.5 mm in the specimen exhibited the highest amplitude contrast between defective area and sound area. For ligament thicknesses of 1 mm and 1.5 mm, delamination detection was possible at 0.025 Hz and 0.01 Hz through the amplitude differences. At lock-in frequencies of 0.006 Hz and 0.01 Hz, ligament thickness 0.5 mm exhibited the highest phase contrast. For ligament thicknesses of 1 mm and 1.5 mm, the phase contrast exhibited possible detection of delamination at 0.006-0.1 Hz.

  • The human effort to make personal privacy and safety from outer environment has brought the improvement of security system through the technological development. Especially as a apartment dwelling and lifestyle is general, the role and function of door lock system is more important than ever. The research for user-centered approach and design on the door lock system should be implemented under the circumstances. This study has focused on the development of making safety as well as easy interface to design door lock system. The price also is competitive as compared with other door lock products. The goal of this study is to propose the alternatives not only to develop door lock design but also to search the innovative way of locking system design.

  • This work is devoted to the technique application of lock-in infrared Thermography in the shipbuilding and ocean engineering industry. For this purpose, an exploratory study to find the optimized test conditions is carried out by the design of experiments. It has been confirmed to be useful method that the phase contrast images were quantified by a reference image and weighted by defect hole size. Illuminated optical intensity of lower or medium strength give a good result for getting a phase contrast image. In order to get a good phase contrast image, lock-in frequency factors should be high in proportion to the illuminated optical intensity. The integration time of infrared camera should have been inversely proportional to the optical intensity. The other hand, the difference of specimen materials gave a slightly biased results not being discriminative reasoning.

  • The pull-out frequency of a second-order phase lock loop (PLL) is an important parameter that quantifies the loop's ability to stay frequency locked under abrupt changes in the reference input frequency. In most cases, this must be determined numerically or approximated using asymptotic techniques, both of which require special knowledge, skills, and tools. An approximating formula is derived analytically for computing the pull-out frequency for a second-order Type II PLL that employs a sinusoidal characteristic phase detector. The pull-out frequency of such PLLs can be easily approximated to satisfactory accuracy with this formula using a modern scientific calculator.

  • Phase locked loops are widely used in many applications such as frequency synthesis, clock/data recovery and clock generation. In nearly all the PLL applications, low jitter and fast locking time is required. Without using adaptive loop filter, this paper proposes very simple method for improving locking time and jitter reduction simultaneously in charge pump PLL(CPPLL) using Daul Phase/Frequency Detector(Dual PFD). Based on the proposed scheme, the lock time is improved by 23.1%, and the jitter is reduced by 45.2% compared with typical CPPLL.

  • The flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) can apply the magnetic field into the high-$T_C$ superconducting(HTSC) element by adopting the magnetic field coil in its third winding. To apply the magnetic field into the HTSC element effectively, the capacitor for LC resonance is connected in series with the magnetic field coil. However, the current waveform of third winding for the application of the magnetic field is affected by the LC resonance condition for the frequency of the source voltage and can affect the waveform of the limited fault current. In this paper, the current waveform of the third winding in the flux-lock type SFCL according to LC resonance condition during a fault period was analyzed. From the differential equation for its electrical circuit, the current equation of the third winding was derived and described with the natural frequency and the damping ratio as design parameters. Through the analysis according to the design parameters of the third winding, the waveform of the limited fault current was confirmed to be influenced by the current waveform of the third winding and the design condition for the stable fault current limiting operation of this SFCL was obtained.
