  • With the development of ubiquitous computing and the construction of infrastructure for one-to-one personalized services, the importance of context-aware services based on user's situation and environment is being spotlighted. The smart home technology connects real space and virtual space, and converts situations in reality into information in a virtual space, and provides user-oriented intelligent services using this information. In this paper, we proposed the discovery of the behavior sequence pattern using the mining in the smart home. We discovered the behavior sequence pattern by using mining to add time variation to the association rule between locations that occur in location transactions. We can predict the path or behavior of user according to the recognized time sequence and provide services accordingly. To evaluate the performance of behavior consequence pattern using mining, we conducted sample t-tests so as to verify usefulness. This evaluation found that the difference of satisfaction by service was statistically meaningful, and showed high satisfaction.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the incidence and cause of reamputation with respect to the location of foot amputation. Materials and Methods: Eighty-six patients who received amputations below the ankle level from March 2002 to September 2012 with at least 1 year follow-up were enrolled in this study. We stratified the site of the initial amputation from first to fifth ray and into either the phalanx or metatarsal bone, and investigated the cause of reamputation. Results: The reamputation rate below the ankle level was 53.5%. It was highest (62.1%) in patients with first ray amputations without statistical significance. Rays were divided into two columns, first to third rays as the medial column and others as the lateral column, and reamputation was performed in 61.2% of patients with medial column amputation. Comparing the results between phalanx and metatarsal amputations, reamputation was performed in 62.1% of patients with metatarsal bone amputation. The rate of reamputation was statistically significant in both the medial column and metatarsal amputations. The most common reamputation site, in accordance to the initial site of amputation, was the adjacent ray (57.4%), which was without statistical significance. Moreover, the most common cause of reamputation was osteomyelitis and focal infection in all rays. Conclusion: This study showed that reamputation after amputation below the ankle level was relatively common with highest rate in medial column and metatarsal amputations. Hence, surgeons should be aware of the risk of reamputation and put more preventive effort during medial column and metatarsal amputations.

  • Social networking services (in short, SNS) allow users to share their own data with family, friends, and communities. Since there are many kinds of information that has been uploaded and shared through the SNS, the amount of information on the SNS keeps increasing exponentially. Particularly, Facebook has adopted some interesting features related to entertainment (e.g., movie, music and TV show). However, they do not consider contextual information of users for recommendation (e.g., time, location, and social contexts). Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel approach for movie recommendation based on the integration of a variety contextual information (i.e., when the users watched the movies, where the users watched the movies, and who watched the movie with them). Thus, we developed a Facebook application (called MyMovieHistory) for recording the movie history of users and recommending relevant movies.

  • FlashLinQ, one of the typical D2D communication systems developed by Qualcomm, considers a single-tone communication based distributed channel-aware link scheduling method to realize the link scheduling process with low control overheads. However, considering the frequency selective fading effect of practical multi-path channel, the single-tone based SIR estimation causes a critical scheduling error problem because the received single-tone signal has quite different channel gain at each sub-carrier location. In order to overcome this problem, we propose a novel link scheduling method based on CAZAC (Constant Amplitude Zero Auto-Correlation) sequence for D2D communication system. In the proposed method, each link has a unique offset value set for the generation of CAZAC sequences. CAZAC sequences with the cyclic offsets are transmitted using multiple sub-blocks in the entire bandwidth, and then each device can obtain nearly full-band SIR using a good cyclic cross-correlation property of CAZAC sequence.

  • Learning from human behaviors in the real world is essential for human-aware intelligent systems such as smart assistants and autonomous robots. Most of research focuses on correlations between sensory patterns and a label for each activity. However, human activity is a combination of several event contexts and is a narrative story in and of itself. We propose a novel approach of human activity prediction based on event cognition. Egocentric multi-sensor data are collected from an individual's daily life by using a wearable device and smartphone. Event contexts about location, scene and activities are then recognized, and finally the users" daily activities are predicted from a decision rule based on the event contexts. The proposed method has been evaluated on a wearable sensor data collected from the real world over 2 weeks by 2 people. Experimental results showed improved recognition accuracies when using the proposed method comparing to results directly using sensory features.

  • In recent years, wireless sensor networks(WSNs) have emerged as a new fast-growing application domain for wireless distributed computing and embedded systems. Recent Progress in computer and communication technology has made it possible to organize wireless sensor networks composed tiny sensor nodes. Furthermore, ad-hoc network protocols do not consider the characteristics of wireless sensor nodes, making existing ad-hoc network protocols unsuitable for the wireless sensor networks. First, we propose power-aware routing protocols based on energy-centered routing metrics. Second, we describe power management techniques for wireless sensor nodes using the spatial locality of sensed data. Many nodes can go into a power-down mode without sacrificing the accuracy of sensed data. Finally, combining the proposed techniques, we describe an overall energy-efficient protocol for data collection. Experimental results show that the proposed routing protocol can extend the routing path lifetime more than twice. The average energy consumption per sensing period is reduced by up to 30%.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the present status of the international textile fashion conventions and the Korean textile fashion conventions in order to secure competitiveness in the textile fashion industry and to discover the satisfaction of the convention and to develop an improvement plan of the current textile and fashion conventions in Korea. For the method of study, five representative conventions of domestic and foreign textiles and fashion were selected and case analyses were conducted focusing on relevant reports. Also, the satisfaction and improvement of the conventions for companies, buyers and visitors attending the Preview in Seoul(PIS) convention were surveyed. The first result of the study was that international textile and fashion conventions have clarified their identity according to changes in the market environment and buyer's interest. For example, the professional exhibition changed the nature of the comprehensive convention or made it easier for many related businesses and buyers to attend the convention by sharing the same convention period and location with other conventions. In addition, the convention hall has been constructed to display promising items, such as eco-friendly materials and smart materials. Second, participating companies, buyers and visitors of the Preview in Seoul (PIS) convention were generally satisfied with the convention, but were aware of the need for change. In particular, the satisfaction level with the number and level of new buyers at home and abroad, the number of counseling sessions and the quality level were also found to be low.

  • Lack of knowledge and digital skills is a threat to the information security of the state and society, so the formation and development of organizational culture of information security is extremely important to manage this threat. The purpose of the article is to assess the state of information security of the state and society. The research methodology is based on a quantitative statistical analysis of the information security culture according to the EU-27 2019. The theoretical basis of the study is the theory of defense motivation (PMT), which involves predicting the individual negative consequences of certain events and the desire to minimize them, which determines the motive for protection. The results show the passive behavior of EU citizens in ensuring information security, which is confirmed by the low level of participation in trainings for the development of digital skills and mastery of basic or above basic overall digital skills 56% of the EU population with a deviation of 16%. High risks to information security in the context of damage to information assets, including software and databases, have been identified. Passive behavior of the population also involves the use of standard identification procedures when using the Internet (login, password, SMS). At the same time, 69% of EU citizens are aware of methods of tracking Internet activity and access control capabilities (denial of permission to use personal data, access to geographical location, profile or content on social networking sites or shared online storage, site security checks). Phishing and illegal acquisition of personal data are the biggest threats to EU citizens. It have been identified problems related to information security: restrictions on the purchase of products, Internet banking, provision of personal information, communication, etc. The practical value of this research is the possibility of applying the results in the development of programs of education, training and public awareness of security issues.

  • Background In recent years, the number of people riding stand-up electric scooters in South Korea has increased rapidly. This study analyzed the facial injury patterns associated with stand-up electric scooter-related trauma in patients who visited our emergency center. Methods In this retrospective review, we collected data from patients who had visited our emergency center for stand-up electric scooter-related trauma between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2020. Results The average age of the patients was 26.7 years. Of the 73 patients, 47 were male and 26 were female, highlighting a male predominance. Seven patients were injured after alcohol consumption. None of the patients had worn helmets. Additionally, upon comparing the frequency of facial injuries according to the quarter of the year, the facial injury rate was higher in the second and third quarters than in the first and fourth quarters. Facial soft tissue injuries were classified into facial cosmetic subunits and analyzed according to their location. The highest number of injuries was on the chin (n=18, 20.9%). Of the 73 patients with stand-up electric scooter-related facial injuries, 16 had acute facial osseous fractures. The commonest acute facial osseous fractures were those of the orbit (n=7, 26.9%). Conclusions The patterns of facial trauma reported here can be helpful for quickly evaluating and treating patients with facial trauma related to stand-up electric scooters. Additionally, people riding stand-up electric scooters should be aware of the risks associated with facial trauma and the importance of wearing protective devices, such as helmets and masks.
