Valuing Sociocultural Multifunctionality of Rural Areas in Korea (농촌 사회문화적 공익기능의 경제적 가치)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the value of the sociocultural multifunctionality of rural areas in Korea. The sociocultural multifunctionality of rural areas consists of emotional comfort, green landscape, cultural heritage, and rural viability values. The value of the sociocultural multifunctionality was assessed by contingent valuation method incoporating preference uncertainty. The log-logit models indicated that households were willing to pay 14,027~26,757 won per month and the model with preference uncertainty gave the highest WTP. WTP was affected by respondent's sex, location, awareness of relation with multifunctionality and others. The total value of sociocultural multifunctionality of rural areas in Korea estimated to 2,691~5,134 billion won per year.

  • Power distribution system planning for maximum customer satisfaction and system efficiency requires accurate forecast of future demand in service area. Spatial load forecasting method provides a more accurate estimation of both magnitudes and location of future electrical load. This method considers the causes of load growth due to addition of customers and per capita consumption among customers by land use (residential, commercial and industrial). So the land-use study and it's preference for small area is quite important. This paper proposes land-use preference estimation method based on fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is applied to computing preference scores for each land-use and by these scores the customer growth is allocated in service area. An simulation example is used to illustrate the proposed method.

  • Mobile network evolution and development of USN technologies introduce new business model based on context awareness. Cellular operators provide friend finding service using cell based location information and telematics service using GPS location information. Recently cellular operators provide yellow page service based cell based location information. In this paper, we develop mobile tour application on WIPI platform based on location information. Mobile tour information services provide the best information based on context awareness using user location information from LBSP (Location Based Service Platform), season, weather conditions, time from Web server, and personal preference information stored in database. Mobile tour information service application is developed on WIPI platform.

  • Economic Development Zone(EDZ) in the province is one of the foreign policy for economic development of North Korea. North Korea has promulgated 27 Economic Development Zones(5 EDZs as central level and 22 EDZs as provincial level) to promote economic growth through the expansion of external opening policy. EDZs of the provinces play an important role in North Korea's national and regional economic growth. The purpose of this study is to select analytical criteria that can be quantified when considering the location conditions of North Korean economic development zones when domestic companies advance into North Korea according to the progress of inter-Korean economic cooperation, and derive the relative importance between the criteria. After that, based on this, we intend to quantify the evaluation of the location priority of the economic development zone. In this study, through AHP analysis results, when domestic companies enter North Korea, we derive the importance and preference of location selection factors when considering the location conditions of North Korean economic development zones. Taking into account the reality of North Korea when the Korean company entered the North economic development zone following location for evaluation. That is, logistics and transportation, industrial infrastructure, competitiveness, and management incentives. And 14 sub-factors were selected and AHP analysis was performed.

A Study on the Problematic Issues and Residents Preference of Administrative Boundary Integration for Rurban Development : A Case Study on the WanJu County (도시주변 행정구역통합대상 농촌지역의 쟁점과 주민의사에 관한 연구)

  • This studys concerns with a critical issues of urban and rural integration for rurban development. Todays, many of urban-rural integrated cities are confronted with the negative effects of administrative boundary integration. The first problem is induced from the developmental gaps and different residential demands between the core-city and peripheral-county. The second problem is social-economic and administrative unification costs neglected. The third problem is the environmental pollutions and degradations in peripheral-county by rapid urbanization. The forth problem is the inequality of the public services and regional investments in the urban-rural Integrated cities. The fifth problem is the administrative relation and financial distribution between core-city and residual province when the urban-rural integrated core-city becomes large urban city. The results of the questionnaire analysis as follows. The first point, the preference of administrative boundary integration is different in intra-areas of urban-rural integrated county by it's location. The second point, the diversity of preference of residents depends on theirs job, age, resdential period, education and income level. So, administrative boundary integration must consider the many important factors which affect the socio-economic situations between the core-city and peripheral-county. In conclusion, residents' preference for the admistrative boundary integration depends on their situation without rational approach for macro regional development. In this contexts, comprehensive approach for the urban-rural administrative boundary integration is needed in consistent with rapid change of local government's functions.

A Study on the Residents' Preference on Apartment Remodeling Proposals (노후 공동주택 리모델링 계획안 거주민 선호도 연구)

  • This study analyzes the residents' preference of apartment unit remodeling proposals for the 3-bay old apartments built in the 1st phase New Town. The remodeling unit plans were previously developed for a 3-bay large-sized unit plan (over 85m2) and a 3-bay medium-sized unit plan (60~85m2). Surveys and interview were conducted with the residnets of the two apartment complexes in Bundang. The contents of the questionnaire consisted of the preferred plan, the reason for the preference, the improvement factors, etc. A total of 88 questionnaires were received. It was found that two-thirds of respondents favored the general 3LDK format, where living rooms and kitchens were located in the middle of the front and rear bay. The one-third of the respondents favored a plan combining the living room and the kitchen in the front. It was also found that the limitation of the remodeling unit plan caused by the location of existing bearing walls should be carefully considered, and that many residents asked additional storage space.

Preference on the locations of Future House in Metropolitan Area, In Case of Taegu-si and Its Neighboring Areas (대도시권 지역의 미래 주택입지 선호도, 대구광역시권을 사례로)

  • This study analyzes the decision-making processes for university students to choose the location of their future houses in metropolitan area. Based on their intuitive judgment, the university students prefer the general criteria, transportation, facility, education and society, and economy in order. The Kendall coefficient of concordance W which determines the association among the rankings of the students' judgement on the importance of the general criteria is so low. It means that the students highly disagree their rankings of the importance of the general criteria. The rankings of the importance of the criteria like as transportation and education society are concentrated on a mean value, but those of the criteria like natural environment and economy are relatively dispersed. The students prefer the area between the center of Taegu-si center and its outskirts, the outskirts of Taegu-si, and the center of Taegu'si in order as an alternative location of their future house. From the specific criteria like the price of land and house, the student's preferences on the alternative locations of future house are varied as compared with those of the general criteria. According to a sensitivity analysis, the student's preference on the center of Taegu-si is increased, but that on the the outskirts of Taegu-si is decreased as the importance of facility and transportation factor is increased. On the contrary, the student's preference on the outskirts of Taegu-si is increased, but that on the center of Taegu-si is decreased as the importance of natural environments is increased.

  • The purpose of this study is to survey differences of visual effects for location the york line. According to three types of body shapes(average, small & thin small & fat)for location of the york line We investigated the visual effects and optical illusion by slider and the results of data which analized by anova and duncan's multiple rannge are as follows. 1. In the A.V (average) body shapes design D1 was showed D1 was showed to be most remarkable in terms of optical illusion and design D2 was showed to be prefer in terms of visual sight. 2. In the S.T(small& thin) body shapes design D1 was showed to be most remarkable in terms of optical illusion but from the side view of looking thinness design D4 was showed to be nogative and from preference of visual sight design D4 was showed to be most negative. 3. In the S.F(small& fot) body shapes design D1 was showed to be most remarkable in terms of optical illusion and design D3 gained the bettle of superiority from the side view of looking tallness and design D3 was showed to be most negative in terms of the preference of visual sight.

An Analysis on the Preference Tendency of Customer of Italian Restaurants, Buffet Restaurants and Traditional Restaurants for Locational Factors (이태리 식당, 뷔페 식당과 전통음식점 이용 고객의 입지 요인 선호 경향 분석)

  • This examination was conducted as follows; 189 copies were coated in total, and demonstratively analyzed by SPSS WIN 15.0 program. The methods used in data for this analysis are as follows; Sensitivity, Reliability, Frequency, Internal consistency, One way ANOVA(Scheffe's examination) Analysis, T-test, etc. The findings of this study are as follows; firstly, it was revealed that respondents who were regular customers of Italian restaurants regarded convenient transportation, property of space, property of pastoral, visibility, and accessibility as importance. This means that Italian restaurant marketers should consider some of factors of location for business with a good view, good parking lot, location at main street, smooth flow of traffic, luxury, atmosphere of freedom, clean area around restaurants, elegant interior of the building, comfortable, luxurious, and deluxe atmosphere, and so on. Secondly, it was revealed that respondents who were regular customers of buffet restaurant either considered the same factors as the Italian restaurants above or regarded those factors less important. This suggests that restaurants should be located on main streets, on trunk roads, and in large-scale residential districts of apartment complex. Thirdly, it was revealed that respondents who were regular customers of traditional restaurants did not consider the locational factors above. This shows that traditional restaurants should be located in nearby customers' houses or their working places, and that marketers should consider focusing on their restaurants' homelike atmosphere, cleanliness, food flavors, and so on.

An Analysis of the Importance of Accessibility for High Speed Railway : Stated-Preference Approach (고속철도에 있어서 접근도의 중요성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The introduction of high speed railway system a significant impact on the conventional inter-urban transport systems by inducing a significant traffic from the existing modes as well as generating a new traffic. It is also closely related to intra-urban transport systems as the inter-urban traffic has its origin and destination in a city. In the context of mode choice, for high speed transport systems, it has been argued that the accessibility is the most important attribute conceived by users. Thus this study attempts to analysis the importance of the accessibility for the planned high speed railway systems particularly with respect to the location of Busan Station. For this Stated-Preference approach, which is considered appropriate for such study, is adopted, and disaggregate binary logit models for mode choice between the high speed railway and air service in Busan-Seoul corridor are developed. The elasticities for cost and service variables are also derived. The results disclose that cost is the most important which is inconsistent with most previous studies ; accessibility has considerable impact on the choice ; and frequency however has a little impacts. Concerning location of the high speed railway station the results suggest that the longer the access distance is, the more important the accessibility is. This implies that the connection of reliable access transport services such as underground are essential between the terminal and urban center.
