Implementation and Test of GPS Jamming Monitoring Equipment (GPS 교란 감시 장치 구현 및 시험)

  • GPS service is generally being used in the navigation application such as the car navigation and the smart phone. Recently, GPS service continues to increase in the timing application such as the mobile telecommunication network, the smart grid, and the financial network. As GPS signals are sensitive to GPS jamming, it should be monitored and protected. In oder to prevent and minimize the damage caused by GPS jamming, many countries are developing and operating GPS jamming monitoring system. This paper presents the implementation and the test results of the GPS jamming equipment which provides the detection, the direction finding and the location of GPS jamming.

  • This paper deals with analysis of the characteristics of mobile robot's motion by automatic detection of markers on a robot using a camera. Analysis of motion behaviors according to parameters is important in developing control algorithm for robot operation or autonomous navigation. For this purpose, we use four chessboard patterns on the robot. Their location on the robot is adjusted to be on single plane. Homography is used to compute the actual amount of movement of the robot. Presented method is tested using P3-AT robot and it gives reliable results.

  • For the improvement of APR1400 Diverse Protection System (DPS) design, the Advanced DPS (ADPS) has recently been developed to enhance the fault tolerance capability of the system. Major fault masking features of the ADPS compared with the APR1400 DPS are the changes to the channel configuration and reactor trip actuation equipment. To minimize the fault occurrences within the ADPS, and to mitigate the consequences of common-cause failures (CCF) within the safety I&C systems, several fault avoidance design features have been applied in the ADPS. The fault avoidance design features include the changes to the system software classification, communication methods, equipment platform, MMI equipment, etc. In addition, the fault detection, location, containment, and recovery processes have been incorporated in the ADPS design. Therefore, it is expected that the ADPS can provide an enhanced fault tolerance capability against the possible faults within the system and its input/output equipment, and the CCF of safety systems.

  • Vehicle location detection and wireless communication method have be designed along the same lines as GPS, CDMA and WLAN, which is based upon the selecting factors such as state-of-art technology trend, accuracy, stability, and economic feasibility, in order to select the optimum method of information communication networks for integrated "Transportation-Power-Facilities" on the electric bus. In addition, the key features of each alternative for an efficient linkage have been review and the integration methodology for linking among Transportation Charging Center, Transportation(ITS, BIS) Center and smart Grid Center has been drawn up based on a technical level of difficulty of each alternative, political and administrative difficulties, and expense justification.

  • Recently, malicious attacks for Windows operate through Window API hooking in the Windows Kernel. This paper presents the API hooking attack and protection techniques based on Windows kernel. Also this paper develops a detection tool for Windows API hooking that enables to detect dll files which are operated in the kernel. Proposed tool can detect behaviors that imports from dll files or exports to dll files such as kernel32.dll, snmpapi.dll, ntdll.dll and advapidll.dll, etc.. Test results show that the tool can check name, location, and behavior of API in testing system.

Invisible Messenger: A System to Whisper in a Person′s Ear Remotely by integrating Visual Tracking and Speaker Array

  • This paper proposes a novel computer-human interface, named invisible Messenger. It integrates face detection and tracking, and speaker array signal processing. By speaker array it is possible to form acoustic focus at the arbitrary location that is measured by the face tracking. Thus the proposed system can whisper in a person's ear as if an invisible virtual messenger were standing by the person. Not only speculative discussion, the authors have implemented a working prototype system based upon the proposed idea. This paper also describes about this prototype. In order to confirm effectiveness of the proposed idea, the authors conduct experiments using the implemented system. Experimental results demonstrate the effectivenss of the proposed idea.

Nondestructive damage evaluation of a curved thin beam

  • A vibration-based nondestructive damage evaluation technique for a curved thin beam is introduced. The proposed method is capable of detecting, locating, and sizing structural damage simultaneously by using a few of the lower natural frequencies and their corresponding mode shapes before and after a small damage event. The proposed approach utilizes modal flexibilities reconstructed from measured modal parameters. A rigorous system of equations governing damage and curvature of modal flexibility is derived in the context of elasticity. To solve the resulting system of governing equations, an efficient pseudo-inverse technique is introduced. The direct inspection of the resulting solutions provides the location and severity of damage in a curved thin beam. This study confirms that there is a strong linear relationship between the curvature of modal flexibility and flexural damage in the selected class of structures. Several numerical case studies are provided to justify the performance of the proposed approach. The proposed method introduces a way to avoid the singularity and mode selection problems from earlier attempts.

  • Recent interest in the use of wireless sensor networks for structural health monitoring (SHM) is mainly due to their low implementation costs and potential to measure the responses of a structure at unprecedented spatial resolution. Approaches capable of detecting damage using distributed processing must be developed in parallel with this technology to significantly reduce the power consumption and communication bandwidth requirements of the sensor platforms. In this investigation, a damage detection system based on a distributed processing approach is proposed and experimentally validated using a wireless sensor network deployed on two laboratory structures. In this distributed approach, on-board processing capabilities of the wireless sensor are exploited to significantly reduce the communication load and power consumption. The Damage Location Assurance Criterion (DLAC) is used for localizing damage. Processing of the raw data is conducted at the sensor level, and a reduced data set is transmitted to the base station for decision-making. The results indicate that this distributed implementation can be used to successfully detect and localize regions of damage in a structure. To further support the experimental results obtained, the capabilities of the proposed system were tested through a series of numerical simulations with an expanded set of damage scenarios.

A Sensing System of the Halbach Array Permanent Magnet Spherical Motor Based on 3-D Hall Sensor

  • This paper proposes a sensing system of the Halbach array permanent magnet spherical motor(PMSM). The rotor position can be obtained by solving three rotation angles, which revolves around 3 reference axes of the stator. With the development of 3-D hall sensor, the position identification problem of the Halbach array PMSM based on rotor magnetic field is studied in this paper. A nonlinear and serious coupling relationship between the rotation angles and the measured magnetic flux density is established on the basis of the rotation transformation theory and the magnetic field model. In order to get rid of the influence on position detection caused by the harmonics of rotor magnetic field and the stator coil magnetic field, a sensor location combination scheme is proposed. In order to solve the nonlinear equation fast and accurately, a new position solution algorithm which combines the merits of gradient projection and particle swarm optimization(PSO) is presented. Then the rotation angles are obtained and the rotor position is identified. The validity of the sensing system is verified through the simulation.
