For many years, researchers in face description area have been representing and recognizing faces based on different methods that include subspace discriminant analysis, statistical learning and non-statistics based approach etc. But still automatic face recognition remains an interesting but challenging problem. This paper presents a novel and efficient face image representation method based on Optimized Local Ternary Pattern (OLTP) texture features. The face image is divided into several regions from which the OLTP texture feature distributions are extracted and concatenated into a feature vector that can act as face descriptor. The recognition is performed using nearest neighbor classification method with Chi-square distance as a similarity measure. Extensive experimental results on Yale B, ORL and AR face databases show that OLTP consistently performs much better than other well recognized texture models for face recognition.

1986년 Cook 이 발표한 Local Influence Approach란 방법을 이용하여 최적 실험계획법에서 일반적으로 가정하는 등분산가정에 대한 민감도 분석을 수행할 수 있는 진단방법을 연구하 였다. D-최적계획법의 갖고 있는 제약조건을 부분적으로 완화시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하 여 몇가지 예들에 적용시켜 보았다. 결론 및 이 방법에 대한 향후 연구과제에 대한 토의를 마지막절에 첨부하였다.

This paper presents a robust algorithm for edge detection based on fuzzy fusion, using a novel local edge information measure based on Renyi's a-order entropy. The calculation of the proposed measure is carried out using a parametric classification scheme based on local statistics. By suitably tuning its parameters, the local edge information measure is capable of extracting different types of edges, while exhibiting high immunity to noise. The notions of fuzzy measures and the Choquet fuzzy integral are applied to combine the different sources of information obtained using the local edge information measure with different sets of parameters. The effectiveness and the robustness of the new method are demonstrated by applying our algorithm to various synthetic computer-generated and real-world images.

정보화와 지방화 시대에서 통계 이용 실태와 문제점을 요약하고 컴퓨터를 이용한 통계 조사의 발달 과정을 살펴보았다. 앞으로도 도래할 인터넷 시대에서 전화 조사에 대체될 인터넷 조사의 특징과 발전 방안을 알아보았고 지방화 시대에서 필요한 지역 통계의 생산 기법으로 소지역 추정법을 소개하였으며, 다양한 학문 분야에서 통계 활용촉진과 혼란을 방지하기 위해서 통계의 표준화 방안을 제시하였다.

분산함수가 불연속점을 가지는 경우, 대부분의 비모수적 함수 추정 연구에서 분산함수가 음수 값을 갖지 않기에 잔차제곱을 이용한 Nadaraya-Watson 추정량인 국소상수항추정량을 이용하였다. 한편, Huh (2014, 2016a)는 Chen 등 (2009)과 Yu와 Jones (2004)의 연구를 바탕으로 불연속 분산함수를 로그 변환한 로그분산함수를 추정 대상으로 삼아 잔차제곱이나 로그잔차제곱으로 경계점 문제를 가지지 않는 국소선형추정량을 이용하여 비모수적으로 추정하였다. Huh (2016b)는 불연속점에서 점프크기추정량을 활용하여 잔차제곱을 분산함수가 연속인 회귀모형에서 얻어진 잔차제곱인 것처럼 수정한 후 이들을 이용하여 불연속 분산함수의 추정을 연구하였다. 본 연구에서는 불연속 로그분산함수의 점프크기추정량을 이용하여 로그잔차제곱을 수정하고 불연속 로그분산함수를 국소선형추정량을 이용하여 추정하고자 한다. 제안된 추정량의 우수성을 모의실험을 통하여 Chen 등 (2009)의 로그분산함수 추정량을 이용한 Huh (2014)의 불연속 로그분산함수 추정량과 비교하고 실제자료에 적용하고자 한다.

역중도절단확률가중(inverse censoring probability weighting, ICPW)은 생존분석에서 흔히 사용되는 방법이다. 중도절단 회귀모형과 같은 ICPW 방법의 응용에 있어서 중도절단 확률의 정확한 추정은 핵심적인 요소라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 중도절단 확률의 추정이 ICPW 기반 중도절단 회귀모형의 성능에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 모의실험을 통하여 알아보았다. 모의실험에서는 Kaplan-Meier 추정량, Cox 비례위험(proportional hazard) 모형 추정량, 그리고 국소 Kaplan-Meier 추정량 세 가지를 비교하였다. 국소 KM 추정량에 대해서는 차원의 저주를 피하기 위해 공변량의 차원축소 방법을 추가적으로 적용하였다. 차원축소 방법으로는 흔히 사용되는 주성분분석(principal component analysis, PCA)과 절단역회귀(sliced inverse regression)방법을 고려하였다. 그 결과 Cox 비례위험 추정량이 평균 및 중위수 중도절단 회귀모형 모두에서 중도절단 확률을 추정하는 데 가장 좋은 성능을 보여주었다.

In this paper we propose a local smoothing of the Nelson type estimator for the survival function based on an approximation by the Weibull distribution function. It appears that Mean Square Error and Bias of the smoothed estimator of the Nelson type survival function estimators are significantly smaller than that of the smoothed estimator of the Kaplan-Meier survival function estimator.

In this paper we propose an influence measure for detecting potentially influential observations using the infinitesimal perturbation and the local influence in the log-linear regression model. Also, we propose a goodness-of-fit measure for variable selection. A real data set are used for illustration.

The asymptotic behavior of graded Betti numbers of powers of homogeneous ideals in a polynomial ring over a field has recently been reviewed. We extend quasi-polynomial behavior of graded Betti numbers of powers of homogenous ideals to ℤ-graded algebra over Noetherian local ring. Furthermore our main result treats the Betti table of filtrations which is finite or integral over the Rees algebra.

We usually use two techniques(influence function and local influence) for detecting outliers. But, we cannot use these difficult techniques in elementary industrial statistics course for college students. We can use some simple graphical methods(box plot, dandelion seed plot, influence graph and cumulative deletion plot) for univariate and bivariate outlier detection and outlier effect in elementary industrial statistics course for college students.
