  • Koh Chang Island is located near the east border of Thailand. The government of Thailand promotes the island as a model of eco-tourism spots. The Island undeveloped until recent years, is expected to change to major tourist attraction. 'Digital Koh Chang project' has thus. The main objective of this project is to monitor the environment and land use status of the island and to support its sound development. In March 2003, a field survey of this project was planned and field data were collected using both airborne and ground platforms and an ocean vessel. These data were combined with satellite data in the laboratory. This presentation is all balloon-born system field operation. A 5-meter length balloon filled with Helium gas was used, whose payload consisted of two RGB standard color digital still cameras, two directional rotating servo motors, a camera mount cradle as well as signal transmitting and receiving components. A series of aerial high-resolution digital images were rather easily obtained using this inexpensive system, making it possible to monitor intended landscape features in a specific field. Design of simple, low-cost and easily transportable flying platforms and local field surveys using them are useful for getting local ground truth data to calibrate satellite or airborne-based RS data. The design analysis to upgrade the system is further investigated.

  • The purpose of this study is to build a new dataset of spatially interpolated climate data of South Korea by performing various geo-statistical interpolation techniques for comparison with the LDAPS grid data of KMA. Among 595 observation data in 2017, 80 % of the total points and remaining 117 points were used for spatial mapping and quantification, respectively. IDW, cokriging, and kriging were performed via the ArcGIS10.3.1 software and Python3.6.4, and each result was then divided into three clusters and four watersheds for statistical verification. As a result, cokriging produced the most suitable grid climate data for instantaneous temperature. For 1-hr accumulated precipitation, IDW was most suitable for expressing local rainfall effects.

  • Crack detection on panels during manufacturing process is an important step for ensuring the product quality. The accuracy and efficiency of traditional crack detection methods, which are performed by eye inspection, are dependent on human inspectors. Therefore, implementation of an on-line and precise crack detection is required during the panel pressing process. In this paper, a regular CCTV camera system is utilized to obtain images of panel products and an image process based crack detection technique is developed. This technique uses a comparison between the base image and a test image using an amplitude mapping of the local image. Experiments are performed in the laboratory and in the actual manufacturing lines to evaluate the performance of the developed technique. Experimental results indicate that the proposed technique could be used to effectively detect a crack on panels with high speed.

  • The mainly used technique to rectify satellite images with distortion is to develop a mathematical relationship between the pixel coordinates on the image and the corresponding points on the ground. By defining the relationship between two coordinate systems, a polynomial model is designed and various linear transformations are used. These GCP based geometric correction has performed overall plane to plane mapping. In the overall plane mapping, overall structure of a scene is considered, but local variation is discarded. The highly variant height of region is resampled with distortion in the rectified image. To solve this problem, this paper proposed the TIN-based rectification on a satellite image. The TIN based rectification is good to correct local distortion, but insufficient to reflect overall structure of one scene. So, this paper shows the experimental result and the analysis of each rectification model. It also describes the relationship GCP distribution and rectification model. We can choose a geometric correction model as the structural characteristic of a satellite image and the acquired GCP distribution.

  • This study was performed to show criteria of a National Ecological Network (NEN) for South Korea and it was a part of a study of ecological network for broad areas on national land showed by Ministry of Environment of Korea. After 1970s, many european countries presented methods and criteria not on individual protected area but on networking among many habitats. The PEEN (Pan European Ecological Network) and NATURA 2000 are results of those. In South Korea, concepts and mapping metheods of ecological network was studied but those were not applied to the whole national land because the equality and local specialities were not reflected. So, in this study, we presented the criteria composed of forest, river, wildlife and coastal evaluation items in conservation ecology and showed the mapping method which can applied to the national land. After the evaluation on land area which composed of forest, river and wildlife axis. Core areas were $30,616km^2$, buffer zone were $21,870km^2$ and each accounted for 31% and 22% of the national land. Except for Taebaeck-Gangwon region, whole region's core areas were accounted for 20~30% of it and buffer zone were accounted for 20~25% of it, so these can be applied to the national land with equality and local specialities. Forest axis and river axis were clearly linear and connected, but the wildlife axis was dispersed in point form. Therefore, to apply the NEN, a detailed habitat map is important and the interconnected implementation of forest, river, wildlife, and coastal axis is required.

  • In remote sensing image processing, the traditional fusion algorithm is based on the Intensity-Hue-Saturation (IHS) transformation. This method does not take into account the texture or spectrum information, spatial resolution and statistical information of the photos adequately, which leads to spectrum distortion of the image. Although traditional solutions in such application combine manifold methods, the fusion procedure is rather complicated and not suitable for practical operation. In this paper, an improved IHS transformation fusion algorithm based on the local variance weighting scheme is proposed for remote sensing images. In our proposal, firstly, the local variance of the SPOT (which comes from French "Systeme Probatoire d'Observation dela Tarre" and means "earth observing system") image is calculated by using different sliding windows. The optimal window size is then selected with the images being normalized with the optimal window local variance. Secondly, the power exponent is chosen as the mapping function, and the local variance is used to obtain the weight of the I component and match SPOT images. Then we obtain the I' component with the weight, the I component and the matched SPOT images. Finally, the final fusion image is obtained by the inverse Intensity-Hue-Saturation transformation of the I', H and S components. The proposed algorithm has been tested and compared with some other image fusion methods well known in the literature. Simulation result indicates that the proposed algorithm could obtain a superior fused image based on quantitative fusion evaluation indices.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this research is to investigate regional variations of mastication difficulty rates in the elderly over 65 in 229 primary autonomous districts in Korea and explore relevant characteristics. For the research data, local community health survey conducted in 2015 and data from Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Health & Welfare, National Health Insurance Service and Statistics Korea were used. Methods: Frequency analysis was conducted for general characteristics and mastication difficulty rates of each region, and distribution of mastication difficulty rates was displayed for each town, city and province by mapping them. Extremal quotient (EQ), coefficient of variation (CV) values were calculated for regional variations, and logistic regression analysis was performed to reveal the relationship between each independent variable and mastication difficulty rates. Results: The average of standardized mastication difficulty rate was 46.78%, and regional variations were significant with EQ 3.46, CV 0.18. Characteristic factors that have significant effects on mastication difficulty rate included sex ratio, elderly population and the number of dentists per 10000 people. Conclusion: As a result, there were variations among mastication difficulty rates in 229 primary local governments across the country, and the distribution of health care resources by the characteristics of the local environment by region affected mastication difficulty rates. Accordingly, it is required to provide political supports to overcome regional inequality of oral health levels and develop cooperative system between local governments and local dentists.

  • This paper describes a mapping and localization based on wave algorithm[11] and Kalman filter for effective SLAM. Each robot in a multi robot system has its own task such as building a map for its local position. By combining their data into a shared map, the robot scans actively seek to verify their relative locations. For simultaneous localization the algorithm which is well known as Kalman Filter (KF) is used. For modelling the robot position we wish to know three parameters (x, y coordinates and its orientation) which can be combined into a vector called a state variable vector. The Kalman Filter is a smart way to integrate measurement data into an estimate by recognizing that measurements are noisy and that sometimes they should ignored or have only a small effect on the state estimate. In addition to an estimate of the state variable vector, the algorithm provides an estimate of the state variable vector uncertainty i.e. how confident the estimate is, given the value for the amount of error in it.

  • Depending upon the method of the surface generation and the quality of the boundary curves provided, the resulting surfaces may have global or local irregularities in many cases. Thus it would be necessary for the designer to evaluate the surface quality and to modify the surface. This capability is very important because the defect of the surface requires the rework of the dies that causes a big loss in cost and delivery time. To simulate the reflection line test in the actual production line, a faster generation algorithm is presented. Among., various surface interrogation methods using reflection lines, Blinn-Newell type of reflection mapping is applied to generate reflection lines on the trimmed NURBS surface. The generation of reflection lines is formulated as a surface-plane intersection problem, and solved by surface-contouring techniques. In addition, a modified reflection map is proposed to eliminate the discontinuity of reflection lines due to the configuration of the reflection map. A fast reflection line algorithm is developed utilizing an efficient traced contouring technique, and proved to be well suited for real-time quality-assessment task.

  • This article deals mainly with two objectives viz, 1) the potentiality of very high-resolution(VHR) multi-spectral and pan chromatic QuickBird satellite data in resources mapping over moderate resolution satellite data (IRS LISS III) and 2) the advantages of using object oriented classification method of eCognition software in land use and land cover analysis over the ISODATA classification method. These VHR data offers widely acceptable metric characteristics for cartographic updating and increase our ability to map land use in geometric detail and improve accuracy of local scale investigations. This study has been carried out in the Sukkalampatti mini-watershed, which is situated in the Eastern Ghats of Tamil Nadu, India. The eCognition object oriented classification method succeeded in most cases to achieve a high percentage of right land cover class assignment and it showed better results than the ISODATA pixel based one, as far as the discrimination of land cover classes and boundary depiction is concerned.
