Saponin isolated from Sapindus mukorossi Gaertn has been shown to contain a strong anti-inflammatory activity. In this study, several pharmacological properties such as acute toxicity, local irritation and hemolytic activity of Sapindus saponin and its genin component, hederagenirl, were examined. The acute toxicity of Sapindus saponin was very low. Estimated from the LD$_{50}$ values, it showed much weaker toxicity in oral administration than in intraperitoneal injection. Hederagenin gave a very high LD$_{50}$ value even in intraperitoneal injection. Sapindus saponin showed a potent local irritation after topical application, whereas hederagenin did a very weak local irritation. Sapindus saponin also gave a high hemolytic activity.

The direct-injection stratified-charge engine has the advantages of higher thermal efficiency and less CO and $NO_x$ emission levels than conventional spark ignition engines. However, its actual utilization is prevented by high unburned hydrocarbon emission levels during light-load operations. In this paper, fundamental studies were carried out using a pancake type constant volume bomb. The effects of intensification of local premixing by tangential and radial fuel injection were examined experimentally. Unburned hydrocarbon emission levels with radial fuel injection were shown to be lower than those of tangential fuel injection cases. The stratification and mixing process of fuel jet and combustion process were observed by schlieren photography.

스월 인젝션 하이브리드 로켓의 고체연료에서 축 방향 국부 후퇴율 거동을 고찰하였다. 일반적으로 축 인젝션 후퇴율은 연료 그레인 축 위치가 입구에서 멀어질수록 감소하다가, 다시 증가하는 경향을 보인다. 이에 반해 스월 인젝션 후퇴율은 연료 입구부에서 높고, 하류에서는 비교적 균일한 후퇴율을 보임을 확인하였다. 전체 후퇴율은 스월 인젝션의 경우가 축 인젝션의 경우에 비해 54% 증가하였다. 본 연구를 통해 소형 사운딩 로켓에서 스월 인젝터를 사용하는 것이 유용할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Purpose: Proximal metatarsal chevron osteotomy for hallux valgus is followed by significant amount of postoperative pain. Periarticular multimodal drug local injection can be an option for pain control. This study was attempted to evaluate the efficacy of the morphine as multimodal drug and to confirm the effect of periarticular multimodal drug local injection on controlling early postoperative pain. Materials and Methods: Between March 2012 and June 2012, 22 patients received proximal metatarsal chevron osteotomy for the correction of hallux valgus deformity. 10 patients (Group A) received periarticular injection of the test solution made with morphine, ropivacaine, ephinephrine and ketorolac. 12 patients (Group B) received periarticular injection of the test solution without morphine. The visual analog scale (VAS) was checked at 2, 4, 6, 8 hours, 1 day and 2 days each after surgery. Results: The VAS score at postoperative 2 hours to 1 day between two groups showed no significant difference, but the VAS score at postoperative 2 days was significantly higher in Group A compared to the VAS score of group B. The amount of additional pain control (tramadol HCL) between two groups showed no significant difference for 3 days after surgery. Conclusion: Periarticular multimodal drug local injection was effective in reducing pain after hallux valgus surgery regardless of mixing with morphine.

It is well known that the electrical impedance of biological tissues is very sensitive to their temperature. In this paper, we have analyzed the effects of temperature change on the phase of magnetic resonance images obtained with external current injection. It has been found that the local phase in the current injected magnetic resonance image can be changed noticeably when local temperature change appears at a part of the tissue. At the experiments with a 0.3 Tesla MRI system, we observed the local phase changes at the phantom images when the phantom temperature was varied between 25 -45$^{\circ}C$. We think that the current injection MRI technique can be used for in-vivo monitoring of the temperature inside biiological tissues if the relation between the local temperature and phase can be quantified.

The local irritation studies of DA-3002, an authentic recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH), were carried out in rabbits after the following treatment ; application into the conjunctival sac of the eye (single), single subcutaneous and intramuscular injection, 7-day repeated subcutaneous and intramuscular injection. The results obtained were as follows. In the result of ocular irritation test, 0.16% solution of DA-3002 could be considered as a non-irritating material. In single subcutaneous and intramuscular irritation test, the irritancy of 0.16% DA-3002 solution was not so much different from that of saline. The local irritation of DA-3002 by 7-day repeated injection was negligible and similar to that of saline by both subcutaneous and intramuscular routes. These results suggest that DA-3002 has no irritating activity when injected through subcutaneous or intramuscular route for clinical practice as 0.16% solution.

It is known that steroids increase the risk for tendon ruptures. Despite this local steroids are still used in the treatment of achilles tendinitis. 46-year-old women had occurred achilles tendon rupture after repeated local steroid injection. Intraoperatively, necrotic change were seen at both side of ruptured end. Like this, tendon rupture after repeated steroid injection often result in a large defect, which needed surgical repair. After debridement of ruptured end, tenorrhaphy with single Krackow method and plantaris tendon augmentation was done. The patient showed favorable result with return to range in a degree of activity levels.

The adverse effects of systemic steroid medications are well known, whereas those of local steroid injections are unclear even to clinicians. We report two cases of localized lipoatrophy and depigmentation following local steroid injection. Although the incidence of soft tissue atrophy after local steroid injection is rare, it will increase in proportion to the frequency of the procedure. All clinicians, even those who do not perform steroid injections, should be aware of the occurrence of this cosmetically disturbing adverse effect.

Managing pain and anxiety in patients has always been an essential part of dentistry. To prevent pain, dentists administer local anaesthesia (LA) via a needle injection. Unfortunately, anxiety and fear that arise prior to and/or during injection remains a barrier for many children and adults from receiving dental treatment. There is a constant search for techniques to alleviate the invasive and painful nature of the needle injection. In recent years, researchers have developed alternative methods which enable dental anaesthesia to be less invasive and more patient-friendly. The aim of this review is to highlight the procedures and devices available which may replace the conventional needle-administered local anaesthesia. The most known alternative methods in providing anaesthesia in dentistry are: topical anaesthesia, electronic dental anaesthesia, jet-injectors, iontophoresis, and computerized control local anaesthesia delivery systems. Even though these procedures are well accepted by patients to date, it is the authors' opinion that the effectiveness practicality of such techniques in general dentistry is not without limitations.

가쪽날개근은 턱의 기능을 수행하는데 기본적인 저작근 중의 하나이다. 이 근육은 저작계의 심부에 위치하기 때문에 손가락을 이용한 촉진검사가 어려우며 그 결과도 신뢰할 만하지 못하다. 이러한 이유로 임상의에게 가쪽날개근에 이환된 근육통 질환을 진단하는 것은 쉽지 않은 문제이다. 근육내 국소마취 주사는 통증의 근원지를 감별하는 목적으로서 가쪽날개근을 검사하는 효과적인 방법이 될 수 있다. 또한 근육통을 즉각적으로 제거함으로써 근육을 전체 길이만큼 신장하는데 도움을 줄 수 있다. 저자들은 근육내 국소마취 주사를 이용하여 가쪽날개근의 근육통을 성공적으로 진단하고 치료한 두 증례를 보고하고자 한다.
