영역 분할 기법과 경계 보존 변이 평활화를 이용한 스테레오 영상의 변이 추정 (Disparity Estimation using a Region-Dividing Technique and Edge-preserving Regularization)

  • 본 논문에서는 스테레오 영상으로부터 자연스러우면서도 정확한 변이 정보를 추출하기 위한 변이 추정 알고리듬을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리듬은 영역 분할 기법을 이용한 계층적 변이 추정부와 편미분 방정식(PDE: Partial Differential Equation)을 이용한 에너지 기반 경계 보존 변이 평활화부로 구성되어 있다. 제안된 계층적 변이 추정 기법은 빠르면서도 신뢰도 있는 변이를 제공하며, 이러한 변이장은 정확도와 평활화도를 함께 고려한 에너지 모델의 최소화 기법에 의해 자연스럽고 정밀한 최종 변이장으로 추출된다. 에너지 모델의 최소화 과정은 대응되는 Euler-Lagrange 방정식으로 변형되어 유한차분법(FDM: Finite difference Method)을 이용한 근사화를 통해 구현된다. 실험을 통해 제안된 변이 추정 기법은 다양한 환경의 영상에 대해서도 자연스러우면서도 정확하고, 경계가 잘 보존된 변이를 추정해 낼 수 있음을 검증하였다.

거리영상과 밝기영상의 fusion을 이용한 영상분할 (Image Segmentation Based on Fusion of Range and Intensity Images)

  • 본 논문에서는 거리영상과 발기영상의 fusion을 이용한 영상분할을 제안한다. Bayes 이론을 기반으로 하여 Markov random field (MRF)로 선험적인 정보를 모델링한다. 거리영상과 밝기영상에서 추출한 특징을 이용하여 maximum a posteriori (MAP) 추정기를 구성한다. 거리영상에서 물체는 국부적인 평면으로 근사되어 각 점마다 평면 계수를 추정해 계수 공간을 구성한다. 밝기영상에서는 ${\alpha}$ 트림드 (${\alpha}$-trimmed) 분산이 밝기특성을 구성한다. 각 공간상의 특징을 에지에 대한 likelihood를 설정하여 구성된 MAP 추정기를 최적화함으로써 영상을 분할한다. 모의실험을 통해 제안된 구조가 그림자, 잡음 그리고 광원의 blurring에 관계없이 영상을 잘 분할한 것을 보였다.

  • APR1000(Advanced Power Reactor 1000)은 기존의 OPR1000(Optimized Power Reactor 1000)에 60년 설계수명, 국부주파수제어운전, 0.3g 안전정지지진하중 적용 등의 향상된 설계특성(Advanced Design Feature)을 적용하여 개선한 수출형 1000MW 원전이다. 이 논문에서는 Reg. Guide 1.207에서 요구하는 원자로냉각재 환경을 고려한 피로 평가를 원자로용기에 대하여 평가하였다. 원자로용기에서 비교적 누적사용계수가 높은 출구노즐을 대상으로 평가를 수행하였으며 출구노즐은 구조적 건전성을 만족하는 것으로 평가되었다.

Bayesian estimation of kinematic parameters of disk galaxies in large HI galaxy surveys

  • We present a newly developed algorithm based on a Bayesian method for 2D tilted-ring analysis of disk galaxies which operates on velocity fields. Compared to the conventional ones based on a chi-squared minimisation procedure, this new Bayesian-based algorithm less suffers from local minima of the model parameters even with high multi-modality of their posterior distributions. Moreover, the Bayesian analysis implemented via Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling only requires broad ranges of posterior distributions of the parameters, which makes the fitting procedure fully automated. This feature is essential for performing kinematic analysis of an unprecedented number of resolved galaxies from the upcoming Square Kilometre Array (SKA) pathfinders' galaxy surveys. A standalone code, the so-called '2D Bayesian Automated Tilted-ring fitter' (2DBAT) that implements the Bayesian fits of 2D tilted-ring models is developed for deriving rotation curves of galaxies that are at least marginally resolved (> 3 beams across the semi-major axis) and moderately inclined (20 < i < 70 degree). The main layout of 2DBAT and its performance test are discussed using sample galaxies from Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) observations as well as artificial data cubes built based on representative rotation curves of intermediate-mass and massive spiral galaxies.

Modulator of surface plasmon polariton based cycle branch graphene waveguide

  • At present, an important research area is the search for materials that are compatible with CMOS technology and achieve a satisfactory response rate and modulation efficiency. A strong local field of graphene surface plasmon polariton (SPP) can increase the interaction between light and graphene, reduce device size, and facilitate the integration of materials with CMOS. In this study, we design a new modulator of SPP-based cycle branch graphene waveguide. The structure comprises a primary waveguide of graphene-$LiNbO_3$-graphene, and a secondary cycle branch waveguide is etched on the surface of $LiNbO_3$. Part of the incident light in the primary waveguide enters the secondary waveguide, thus leading to a phase difference with the primary waveguide as reflected at the end of the branch and interaction coupling to enhance output light intensity. Through feature analysis, we discover that the area of the secondary waveguide shows significant localized fields and SPPs. Moreover, the cycle branch graphene waveguide can realize gain compensation, reduce transmission loss, and increase transmission distance. Numerical simulations show that the minimum effective mode field area is about $0.0130{\lambda}^2$, the gain coefficient is about $700cm^{-1}$, and the quality factor can reach 150. The structure can realize the mode field limits of deep subwavelength and achieve a good comprehensive performance.

CRF-Based Figure/Ground Segmentation with Pixel-Level Sparse Coding and Neighborhood Interactions

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach to learning a discriminative model for figure/ground segmentation by incorporating the bag-of-features and conditional random field (CRF) techniques. We advocate the use of image patches instead of superpixels as the basic processing unit. The latter has a homogeneous appearance and adheres to object boundaries, while an image patch often contains more discriminative information (e.g., local image structure) to distinguish its categories. We use pixel-level sparse coding to represent an image patch. With the proposed feature representation, the unary classifier achieves a considerable binary segmentation performance. Further, we integrate unary and pairwise potentials into the CRF model to refine the segmentation results. The pairwise potentials include color and texture potentials with neighborhood interactions, and an edge potential. High segmentation accuracy is demonstrated on three benchmark datasets: the Weizmann horse dataset, the VOC2006 cow dataset, and the MSRC multiclass dataset. Extensive experiments show that the proposed approach performs favorably against the state-of-the-art approaches.

인터리빙과 랜덤 셔플링을 이용한 디지털 영상의 암호화 방법 (Digital Image Encryption Method Using Interleaving and Random Shuffling)

  • 본 논문에서는 디지털 컨텐츠의 저작권 보호를 위해 기존의 고정된 셔플링 테이블을 이용한 암호화의 가장 큰 단점인 평문 공격에 대한 취약성을 보완할 수 있는 암호화 기법을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 우선, 영상의 특징 값에 따라 적응적으로 변하는 인터리빙 방법을 제안하고 제안된 인터리빙 방법만을 사용하여 DPCM 처리된 $8^*8$블록을 셔플링하는 암호화 방법과 인터리빙과 기존의 랜덤 셔플링 방법을 결합한 다중 셔플링 방법을 이용하여 영상을 암호화하는 두 가지 방법을 제안하였다. 모의 실험 결과 제안한 두 가지 셔플링 방법을 이용한 암호화 방법은 영상의 국소적인 특징 값에 따라 적응적으로 변하기 때문에 기존의 고정된 형태의 랜덤 셔플링 테이블만을 사용하는 방법에 비해 평문 공격에 강인한 특징을 가졌고 또한 추가적인 비트량 증가도 발생하지 않는 장점을 보였다.

Gaze Detection by Wearable Eye-Tracking and NIR LED-Based Head-Tracking Device Based on SVR

  • In this paper, a gaze estimation method is proposed for use with a large-sized display at a distance. Our research has the following four novelties: this is the first study on gaze-tracking for large-sized displays and large Z (viewing) distances; our gaze-tracking accuracy is not affected by head movements since the proposed method tracks the head by using a near infrared camera and an infrared light-emitting diode; the threshold for local binarization of the pupil area is adaptively determined by using a p-tile method based on circular edge detection irrespective of the eyelid or eyelash shadows; and accurate gaze position is calculated by using two support vector regressions without complicated calibrations for the camera, display, and user's eyes, in which the gaze positions and head movements are used as feature values. The root mean square error of gaze detection is calculated as $0.79^{\circ}$ for a 30-inch screen.

  • The present study investigates the effects of rib arrangements and aspect ratios of a rectangular duct simulating the cooling passage of a gas turbine blade. Two different V-shaped rib configurations are tested with the aspect ratios (W/H) of 3 to 6.82. One is the continuous V-shaped rib configuration with $60^{\circ}$ attack angle, and the other is the discrete V-shaped rib configuration with $45^{\circ}$ attack angle. The square ribs with the pitch to height ratio of 10.0 are installed on the test section in a parallel arrangement for both rib configurations. Reynolds numbers based on the hydraulic diameter are changed from 10,000 to 30,000. A naphthalene sublimation method is used to measure local heat/mass transfer coefficients. For the continuous V-shaped rib configuration, two pairs of counter-rotating vortices are generated in a duct, and high transfer region is formed at the center of the ribbed walls of the duct. However, for the discrete V-shaped rib configuration with $45^{\circ}$ attack angle, complex secondary flow patterns are generated in the duct due to its geometric feature, and more uniform heat/mass transfer distributions are obtained for all tested cases

문인화를 이용한 한국적 이미지의 문화상품용 의상디자인 개발 (Clothing Design of Korean Image for Cultural Prooducts -using the literary artist´s works-)

  • The purposes of this study are to develop a Korean image clothing design for cultural products by using the literary artist´s works and to satisfy the demand of the local self-government and of Gwangju ㆍChonnam area´s small and medium-sized companies. The image of traditional Korean clothing can be expressed with adjectives like Pure, plain, rhythmical, neatness, plentiful, and calm etc. These attributes are similar to the characteristics of the literary artist´s style, which is expressed as suggestive, animated, spatial, possibility of stationary, serene and still. The features of the traditional Korean clothing design can be described as ´The Beauty of Elegance´, ´The Beauty of Plainness´, ´The Beauty of Asymmetric Balance´ and ´The Beauty of rhythm´. It can be expressed in the modern fashion design, which is developed through the combination of the most important feature like ´The Beauty of Space´ in the literary artist´s style. At the time of production we tried to express spatial beauty and plentiful taste of the literary artist's style in the clothing design of Korean image for cultural products by considering the balance between them. Six works of the literary artist were selected which satisfied the purpose of the developed clothing design item. The results were nine clothing designs of Korean image, like a skirt suit made up of a blouse and a skirt, a pants suit made up of pants and a jacket, two evening dresses with a shawl, and also T-shirts and one-pieces etc.
