Child Friendly Cities (CFC) is a framework for action with the aim of implementing the UN CRC led by local government in an urban context. A number of surveys with 755 children and adolescents were conducted in order to assess the community's child-friendliness level of Seoul. The results of this study were as follows : 1) Comprehensive assessment of the city's child-friendliness was overall seen to be negative. 2) In regards to the city's child-friendliness, the assessments of Children were more positive than those of the adolescents. 3) Boys assessed the city's child-friendliness more positively than girls. 4) The children and adolescents living in more wealthy communities assessed the city's child-friendliness more positively than those living in poorer areas. This study suggested that a local action plan for the Child Friendly Cities must be implemented to fulfill the CFC standards.

Japan has been tried to integrate Western planning theories into its parks and green systems in the past. However this effect has been regarded unsuccessful. One of reasons for this is that the green systems have been treated as an urban facility, instead as systems. Another reason has to deal with greenbelt's stationary and reservation characteristics that make difficulty to respond timely to the rapid urbanization. The parks and green systems in Korea was introduced in 1990 and began to be promoted fully with the 'Parte and Green Master Plan' established in 2005. However, due to its short history, incomplete aspects exist in its philosophy and methods for promoting the system. Based on these experiences, the current green zone plans in Japan considers the green structure as an independent institution and amenity plan, not a tool of urban planning, that can be a medium for realization of urban visions. And main characteristics of this approach are 1) classifying the green structure into four categories in order to respond to urban forms and purposes, 2) pursuing confirmity with urban planning, and 3) executing the landscape plan based upon core green areas. From reviews upon experiences of Japan as well as considerations on demands and conditions of green systems in Korea, we proposed the following five new strategies for the construction of the urban parte and green system in Korea. They are 1) to develop urban parks and green systems into a genre of urban development improving the quality and local competitiveness of cities rather than a means of urban planning; 2) to form the integrated structure of urban green zones; 3) to transform the urban parte and green systems into practical systems as the centers of localities; 4) to raise criteria for planning and execution plans for effective implementations of the urban parte and green systems, and 5) to provide specific guidelines for the construction of urban parks and green systems through organizing research groups or specialists.
The role of local decentralization and balanced regional development becomes important due to the concentration of population due to urbanization, and the development of tourism contents in local governments is actively being attempted. However, this is largely due to quantitative growth, and it does not offer tourist content that offers a different experience while utilizing regional characteristics. This means that it is important to develop programs and contents that emphasize the identity of the region by cultivating local characteristics and build a different image. However, most of the small regions where characteristic resources are difficult to find have a problem that it is difficult to develop different programs and contents due to relatively few development opportunities and financial constraints. In this study, it was considered that it is effective to analyze characteristic features of the region and utilize the possessed assets as much as possible. Therefore, we propose a service design process that effectively supports ecotourism, one of the regional revitalization plan using local eco - assets. In the process, Venn Diagram Position and Context Map methodology was developed and verified through Sutonggol Observation Path.

Since 1982, schools have been closed down by urbanization in rural areas. 3,386 schools had been closed down by March 2010. The average 300 schools was closed down every year. 55.7% closed schools were sold, 14.5% closed schools were rented. 6.3% closed schools have been utilized as education facilities. First, the closed school should be utilized as education facilities. And it should be utilized as public facilities as well as welfare facilities for local residents. This paper presents a case of the welfare facility remodeled using Don-Yi middle school in Okcheon-Gun, Chungcheongbuk-Do and propose the unit care composition. The main contents is composed of posts, beams floors, stairs. Masonry infill walls and windows ware improved. Corridors were placed. A classroom were divided into 2 rooms with the Korean traditional heating system(on-dol) for four. Other conveniences were designed for a cafeteria, recreation, a restroom as space required. It is effective to utilize the closed school that has magnificent views and orientation, space construction. The Unit-care system is proposed by 4 types developments.
Across the world, the industrialization has increased the frequency of climate anomaly. The size of damage due to recent natural disasters is growing large and fast, and the human damage and economic loss due to disasters are consistently increasing. Urbanization has a structure vulnerable to natural disasters. Therefore, in order to reduce damage from natural disasters, both hardware and software approaches should be utilized. Currently, however, the development of a statistical access process for 'analysis of disaster occurrence factor' and 'prediction of damage costs' for disaster prevention and overall disaster management is inadequate. In case of local governments, overall disaster management system is not established, or even if it is established, unscientific classification system and management lead to low utility of natural statistics of disaster year book. Therefore, in order to minimize disaster damage and for rational disaster management, the disaster damage survey process should be improved. This study selected gale as the focused analysis target among natural disasters recorded in disaster year book such as storm, torrential rain, gale, high seas, and heavy snow, and analyzed disaster survey process. Based on disaster year book, the gale damage size was analyzed and the issues occurring from the correlation of gale and damage amount were examined, so as to suggest an improvement plan for reliable natural disaster information collection and systematic natural disaster damage survey.

The urban park provides a safe rest and leisure area, and offers the beauty of nature to counter the drearyness of urban space. It can provide benefits such as the reduction of environmental pollution, the regulation of the local climate, and it can also provide a safe area during times of disaster. However, there was no interest in urban park development and control in Korea during the economic boom of the mid 1960s. Furthermore, during the industrialization process, the population grew significantly in the cities and the cities' scales were noticeably extended; as a result of this, the living environment and the natural environment in the cities worsened. With rapid urbanization and industrialization, urban green area diminished, and it became necessary to organize the urban park system to improve quality of life. 45% of south korea's population lives in 6 cities, which is only 4% of Korea's land size. The Urban park system has to be considered in the urban planning process. Paris' urban green system can be a role-model for Korea's urban green development plan to function organically. Urban public park concepts have been used in Paris's urban planning since 1850. There were hardly any parks, gardens and squares for the public before the middle of the 19th century. For improving life-styles for the poor, Napoleon III strongly supported the development of green space systems in Paris by G.E. Haussmann. Napoleon III and Haussmann established and applied the urban green regulation within Paris urban planning. The purpose of this study is to investigate the green regulations Haussmann's Paris urban plan and urban green space system: and as a result of this, it can be an indicator for urban green space development in Korea.

By the expanding of infrastructure caused by urbanization, new technologies are required to manage various kinds of facilities. GIS has been appraised as valuable technology for facilities management since the 1990s. Therefore, the long and mid term GIS construction plan has been established by the national government and the local government. Some facilities management systems have been built and developed for suppling user-friendly functions. From this point of view, the information system based on the video sequences is considered a more effective way to improve the defects of conventional GIS using the digital map or the image as the base map. Using the video sequences as a base map, the availability of the system ill be increased because the real world information can be furnished to the users. In this study, through the connection between the GIS data, the digital map and the attribute data, and the video sequences taken from the airship using the video geo-referencing and the object tracking, we developed the facilities management system as a prototype which can effectively manage the road utilities. We also presented potentialities of the suggested system for facility management based on the video sequences.
Background: Air pollution is increasing together with industrialization and urbanization. In order to reduce air pollution, public transportation is recommended rather than private cars, and the number of passengers using public transportation is increasing accordingly. This study observes the concentration of indoor pollutants in city buses over time. Through this means, we intend to suggest a plan to manage the indoor air quality in city buses. Objectives: The concentration of indoor pollution in public transportation was investigated from April 2021 to January 2022. Based on this, we evaluated the exposure to indoor pollutants. Methods: Six city bus lines in an industrial city were selected for the research, and indoor pollution was measured through IoT (Internet of Things)-based sensor-type measuring devices. The concentration of pollutants was measured every minute, and statistical data were constructed based on the measurement results. Results: In all the city buses studied, the average concentration of pollutants were below the guidelines. However, some measurement results showed cases of exceeding the guidelines. As a result of the analysis by time zone, there were more cases in which pollutants exceeded the standard value during rush hour compared to at other times. A risk assessment for PM10 was performed by evaluating the excess mortality risk from exposure and the risk from inhalation exposure. Conclusions: All measured indoor pollutants in the city buses did not exceed the guidelines. Also, the risk assessment results were found to be within the level of safety. However, if a city bus is used for a long time, there is a possibility that there may be an impact on the human body due to inhalation exposure, so additional management is required.

Korea experienced rapid urbanization due to high growth of economy. As people left the country and gathered in the city, the size of city has been expanded, resulting in unbalanced development of the land. In addition, it appears in diverse aspects from nationwide phenomenon to the local development in each city unit. In particular, it even tends to become social problems in the metropolitan cities. As a solution for it, this study conducts theoretical consideration on sustainability in the aspect of balanced urban development and suggests measures through analysis on Siheung-city. The result is as follows. First of all, comprehensive approach is required based on sustainability. It is required to derive balanced city development by expanding it to the social, cultural and economic aspects. Second, integrated management policy is required for the original city along with new development. It should be considered together with diverse social and physical aspects. Third, approach from the aspect of city planning is required through consideration on flat city expansion and connection with city space structural. Fourth, in order to foster balanced urban development, it is needed to grope for solutions for imbalanced urban development through the participation of diverse groups such as local residents, private enterprisers, and the non-profit civic groups of the local community along with the mediation among persons interested. And continuous support of administrative authorities should be obtained to create such environment.

The objective of this study is to classify the characteristics of green landscapes in suburban cities and identify methods for managing them. The study site is Matsudo city in the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan. All the greenery in Matsudo was categorized into different landscape patterns using spatial analysis and field surveys. Afterwards, assessments of green landscapes were conducted using questionnaire surveys and factor analyses. There are a variety of green landscapes in Matsudo, formed by a number of different reasons such as urban planning, topographical characters and socio-cultural environments. Twenty different green landscape patterns were identified in Matsudo. The survey concluded that green landscape patterns of parks and rivers in Urbanization Control Areas are more attractive than patterns of farmland or forest in residential areas. Three major factors influenced perceptions: legibility, intimacy and the locality on the landscape assessment. Urban farmland and urban forest are two characteristics of suburban cities, and these green landscapes relate to intimacy or localities in a regional image. Finally, based on the results of this study, some implications were discussed for a green master plan and green landscape management.
