  • This study was carried out to investigate the quality of chukar partridge meat. Chukar partridges raised for 60 days were slaughtered and stored at 3$\^{C}$ for 24 hr. Broiler chicken(800g$\pm$20g carcass weight) after 24 hr postmortem were used as control, which obtained from local slaughter house. The chukar partridge meat had lower fat and cholesterol contents than broiler chicken did. The color of chukar partridge meat showed redder and darker than that of broiler chicken owing to lower L* and a* value. According to sensory evaluation, the flavor of chukar partridge meat was significantly better than that of broiler chicken. In conclusion, chukar partridge meat can be a preferable muscle food as well as a health food far consumer. Further, the development of cooking method must be improved meat quality characteristics in chukar partridge because the thigh of chukar partridge has tough texture and dark color.

  • We present B VRI CCD surface photometry for the central $(6'.35\times6'.35)$ regions of the dwarf elliptical galaxies NGC 185 and NGC 205 in the Local Group. Surface brightness profiles of NGC 185 (R<225') and NGC 205 (R<186') show excess components in the central regions. The colors of NGC 185 get bluer inward at R<25', while they remain constant at $R\geq25'$. The colors of NGC 205 get bluer inward at 1'$\approx10^5\; L_\bigodot$. Distributions of dust clouds in the central regions of the two galaxies are also investigated.

  • With the increasing amount of splicing images, many detection schemes of splicing images are proposed. In this paper, a splicing detection scheme for color image based on the quaternion discrete cosine transform (QDCT) is proposed. Firstly, the proposed quaternion Markov features are extracted in QDCT domain. Secondly, the proposed quaternion Markov features consist of global and local quaternion Markov, which utilize both magnitude and three phases to extract Markov features by using two different ways. In total, 2916-D features are extracted. Finally, the support vector machine (SVM) is used to detect the splicing images. In our experiments, the accuracy of the proposed scheme reaches 99.16% and 97.52% in CASIA TIDE v1.0 and CASIA TIDE v2.0, respectively, which exceeds that of the existing schemes.

  • This paper describes a hardware-oriented algorithm and its conceptual implementation in a real-time speed limit traffic sign detection system on an automotive-oriented field-programmable gate array (FPGA). It solves the training and color dependence problems found in other research, which saw reduced recognition accuracy under unlearned conditions when color has changed. The algorithm is applicable to various platforms, such as color or grayscale cameras, high-resolution (4K) or low-resolution (VGA) cameras, and high-end or low-end FPGAs. It is also robust under various conditions, such as daytime, night time, and on rainy nights, and is adaptable to various countries' speed limit traffic sign systems. The speed limit traffic sign candidates on each grayscale video frame are detected through two simple computational stages using global luminosity and local pixel direction. Pipeline implementation using results-sharing on overlap, application of a RAM-based shift register, and optimization of scan window sizes results in a small but high-performance implementation. The proposed system matches the processing speed requirement for a 60 fps system. The speed limit traffic sign recognition system achieves better than 98% accuracy in detection and recognition, even under difficult conditions such as rainy nights, and is implementable on the low-end, low-cost Xilinx Zynq automotive Z7020 FPGA.

  • From the past to the present, banners are consistently used as effective advertising means. In the case of Korea, there are frequent situations in which hidden advertisements are installed. As a result, such hidden advertisement materials may damage urban aesthetics and moreover, incur unnecessary manpower consumption and waste of money. The proposed method classifies the detected banners into good banner and bad banner. The classification results are based on whether the relevant banners are installed in compliance with legal guidelines. In the process, YOLO and Open Computer Vision library are used to determine from various perspectives whether banners in CCTV images comply with the guidelines. YOLO is used to detect the banner area in CCTV images, and OpenCV is used to detect the color values in the area for color comparison. If a banner is detected in the video, the proposed method calculates the location of the banner and the distance from the designated bulletin to determine whether it was installed within the designated location, and then compares whether the color used in the banner is complied with local government guidelines.

  • This study has surveyed and analyzed in 2005 S/S domestic men's street fashion by using the Web-SFAS system that was developed and completed in the earlier research. Total of 270 men who were sensitive to fashion were surveyed around 5 nationwide cities and 9 commercial zones. The analysis results of the questionnaire and image survey in 2005 S/S for each commercial zone was shown as follows. 1. The most interest in producing fashionable shape when they go out was in the order of clothes>hair style>shoes and it was found that the proper reason for visiting the commercial zone was to meet with friends>watching movies>shopping etc. 2. T-shirts were most preferred as upper garments and as for bottoms, blue jeans were preferred. Black, gray, and white colors were most preferred and blue color was most preferred primarily due to the preference for blue jeans. The color image was proven mainly modem and light tone, comfortable and casual items were preferred. An active comfort casual image emphasized with activeness by coordinating comfortable T-shirts or shirts with blue jeans were most preferred in 9 areas. 3. A clear difference was confirmed in color by commercial area. Blackish color was most prevalent in Daehakro whereas simple color was mostly shown around Hongik University area. Bright and unique colors such as green and violate were dominant at Dae-Gu Dongseongro, and basic colors such as white and black were preferred in Masan Hapseong-dong and Changwon Sangnam-dong. Through the results of nationwide street fashion survey, the each commercial zone has unique characteristics in fashion trend even in the same city, rather than the regional difference in Seoul and local city.

  • As a result of remarkable developments in multimedia technology, the image database system that can efficiently retrieve image data becomes a core technology of information-oriented society. In this paper, we proposed the 2-phase Image Retrieval System considering both color and shape information as the method of image features extraction for content-based image data retrieval. At the first level, to get color information, with improving and extending the indexing method using color distribution characteristic suggested by Striker et al., i.e. the indexing method considering local color distribution characteristics, the system roughly classifies images through the improved method. At the second level, the system finally retrieves the most similar image from the image queried by the user using the shape information about the image groups classified at the first level. To extract the shape information, we use the Improved Moment Invariants (IMI) that manipulates only the pixels on the edges of objects in order to overcome two main problems of the existing Moment Invariant methods large amount of processing and rotation sensitiveness which can frequently be seen in the Directive Histogram Intersection technique suggested by Jain et al. Experiments have been conducted on 300 automobile images. And we could obtain the more improved results through the comparative test with other methods.

  • In this paper, a setting method of initial cluster centers and color image segmentation using superpixels and Fuzzy C-means(FCM) algorithm is proposed. Generally, the FCM can be widely used to segment color images, and an element is assigned to any cluster with each membership values in the FCM. However the algorithm has a problem of local convergence by determining the initial cluster centers. So the selection of initial cluster centers is very important, we proposed an effective method to determine the initial cluster centers using superpixels. The superpixels can be obtained by grouping of some pixels having similar characteristics from original image, and it is projected $La^*b^*$ feature space to obtain the initial cluster centers. The proposed method can be speeded up because number of superpixels are extremely smaller than pixels of original image. To evaluate the proposed method, several color images are used for computer simulation, and we know that the proposed method is superior to the conventional algorithm by the experimental results.

  • It is widely accepted that the evolution of galaxies is accelerated in dense environments. According to recent studies, however, the evolution by direct interactions between galaxies is known to be most active in a galaxy group rather than in a galaxy cluster. In particular, the central galaxy in a group is closely related to its satellites in the properties such as morphology, color and star formation rate, because those galaxies evolve together in a small-scale environment. Currently, however, it is not yet studied well whether such conformity between bright galaxies and their faint companions remains after a galaxy group falls into a galaxy cluster. Recently, Lee et al. (2014) have found that the colors of bright galaxies show a measurable correlation with the mean colors of faint companions around them in WHL J085910.0+294957, a galaxy cluster at z = 0.3, which may be the vestige of infallen groups in the cluster. As a follow-up study, we study Abell 2744, an ongoing cluster-cluster merger at z = 0.308, using the HST Frontier Fields Survey data. The cluster members are selected based on the distributions of color, size and concentration along magnitude. The correlation in color between bright galaxies and their companions is not found in the full area of Abell 2744. However, when the area is limited to the southeastern part of the Abell 2744 image, the mean color of faint companions shows marginal dependence (> $2{\sigma}$ to Bootstrap uncertainties) on the color of their adjacent bright galaxy. We discuss the implication of these results, focusing on their dependence on local environments.

  • In this paper, we implemented a high-speed signal processing hardware system for Color Line Scan Camera using FPGA and Nor-Flash. The existing hardware system mainly processed by high-speed DSP based on software and it was a method of detecting defects mainly by RGB individual logic, however we suggested defect detection hardware using RGB-HSL hardware converter, FIFO, HSL Full-Color Defect Decoder and Image Frame Buffer. The defect detection hardware is composed of hardware look-up table in converting RGB to HSL and 4K HSL Full-Color Defect Decoder with high resolution. In addition, we included an image frame for comprehensive image processing based on two dimensional image by line data accumulation instead of local image processing based on line data. As a result, we can apply the implemented system to the grain sorting machine for the sorting of peanuts effectively.
