Performance of Roots-type Vacuum Pump with Cassini Oval Lobe Shape (Cassini 형 루츠 진공 펌프의 성능에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to elucidate the characteristic performance of Roots-type vacuum pump with Cassini oval lobe shape. The modelled lobe shape of Roots-type vacuum pump is two-lobe spur gear. The numerical analyses are performed fer leak flows, using 4th-order Runge-Kutta method and are compared with experimental results. Results show that for the case of involute lobe shape the total amount of the leak flow conductance is greater than that of cycloid and Cassini oval lobe shapes.

  • A Computer program is developed for creation of a new lobe shaper for Roots-type supercharger. Numerical analyses are preformed for the flowfields in the pocket volumes formed by various lobe shapes. The governing equations for the two-dimensional, turbulent, operational processes in the housing are discretized by the control volume approach that insures the conservative characteristics to be satisfied in the calculation domain, and they are solved by a modified SIMPLE algorithm. Numerical results show that the effects of secondary flow on the leakage flow rate with the Cassini(B) lobe shape is smaller than that of Cassini(A) rotor. But the pocket volume of Cassine(B) lobe is larger than the other lobe shapes.

  • The effects of lobe shapes on the leak flow conductance of Roots-type vacuum pump are studied numerically and experimentally. The modelled lobe shape of Roots-type vacuum pump is two-lobe spur gear. The numerical analyses are performed on leak flows in Roots-type vacuum pump. It is numerically calculated using a 4th-order Runge-Kutta method and is compared with experimental results.   • A modeling of machined geometry and cutting force was proposed for the case of round shape machining, and the effects of internally machined profile are analyzed and its realiability was verified by the experiments of roundness tester, especially in boring operation in lathe. Also, harmonic cutting force model was proposed with the parameter of specific cutting force, chip width and chip thickness, and in this study, we can see that bored workpiece profile was also mapped into cutting force signal with this model. In general, we can calculated the theoretical lobe profile with arbitrary multilobe. But in real experiments, the most frequently measured numbers are 3 and 5 lobe profile in experiments. With this results, we can predict that these results may be applied to round shape machining such as drilling, boring, ball screw and internal grinding operation with the same method.

  • A internal lobe pump is suitable for oil hydraulics of machine tools, automotive engines, compressors, constructions and other various applications. In particular, the pump is an essential machine element of an automotive engine to feed lubricant oil. The subject of this paper is the theoretical analysis of internal lobe pump whose the main components are the rotors: usually the outer one is characterized by lobes with circular shape, while the inner rotor profile is determined as conjugate to the other. The topic of this paper is the design of a new rotor, which is based on specific performance as different types depending on the shape of the lobe of the outer rotor. First, the design of internal lobe pumps with circular, elliptical, and their combined lobe profiles is considered. The latter is a new type of lobe profile with special shape whose curvature follows a definite function. Then we introduce the performance indexes used for the comparison. Some of these indexes, such as flow rate and flow rate irregularity, are commonly used for the comparison, while specific slipping is particularly suitable in this case. It is possible to notice that the circular and elliptical type is comparable to the circular one or the elliptical one in terms of flow rate irregularity, but has improved performance in terms of specific slipping. Results obtained from the analysis enable the designer and manufacturer of oil pump to be more efficient in this field.

  • A gerotor can be manufactured in a miniature size because it has a high discharge per cycle and a simple structure. Gerotors are widely used for the lubrication oil of an engine and as the hydraulic source of an automatic transmission. Recently, improvements in fuel efficiency and noise reduction have come to the fore in the automobile industry, and it has been necessary for better fuel efficiency to continuously improve the flow rate and noise of internal gear pumps through the optimal design of the gerotor and port shape. In this study, gerotors were generated based on the equations derived for a lobe shape with multiple profiles (ellipse 1-elliptical involute-ellipse 2). The ranges of the design parameters were considered to prevent a cusp and loop. In addition, the optimal lobe shape was obtained by determining the influence of the lobe shape on the performances (flow rate, irregularity, etc.), according to the values of the design parameters.

  • In this paper, we design an optimized planar array structure with triangular lattice for side-lobe reduction using a genetic algorithm. A constraint optimization is implemented by optimally removing some outer array elements far from the array center. It is shown that only the proper array shape without optimizing the magnitudes and phases of each array antenna can give low side-lobe level with a slight main beam broadening.

  • In this paper we have discussed on the characteristics and modeling of machined geometry which was established for the case of round shape machining also the effects of externally machined profile are analyzed and its modeling realia-bility was verified by the experiments of roundness testing especially in lathe operation. In this study we established a harmonic geometric model with the parameter harmonic function. In general we can calculate the theoretical roundness profile with an arbitrary multilobe parameter. But in real experiments only 2-5 lobe profile was frequently measured, The most frequently measured ones are 3 and 5 lobe profile in experiments. With these results we can predict that these results may be applied to round shape machining such as turning drilling boring ball screw and cylindrical grinding operation in bearing and shaft making operation with the same method. in this study simulation and experimental work were performed to show the profile behaviors. we can apply these new modeling methods in real process for the predic-tion of part profile behaviors machined such as in round shape machining operation.

Photon Defects due to the Gall Bladder on Hepatic Parenchymal Scintigraphy (간실질신티그램상 담낭으로 인한 결손음영)

  • Authors classified 161 cases of photon defects due to the gall bladder on hepatic parenchymal scintigraphy on $^{99m}Tc-phytate$ and $^{99m}Tc-DISIDA$ according to the position of the gall bladder, the pattern of photon defects and the hepatobiliary diseases. The results were as follows; 1) Conocordance of $^{99m}Tc-DISIDA$ and $^{99m}Tc-phytate$ hepatic parenchymal images in photon defect due to the gall bladder was 94% of 32 cases. 2) The frequency according to the position of the gall bladder was in order to 68% of the gall bladder of the lower margin of the liver, 30% of the intrahepatic gall bladder and 2% of the extrahepatic gall bladder, and the frequency of the photon defects due to the gall bladder was in order to 81% of the intrahepatic gall bladder, 71% of the gall bladder of the lower margin of the liver and 20% of the extrahepatic gall bladder. 3) The pattern of the photon defects due to the gall bladder was 47% of funnel shape in the intrahepatic gall bladder, 69% of semilunar shape in the gall bladder of the lower margin of the liver and 100% of semilunar shape in the extrahepatic gall bladder. 4) All of 9 cases of the intrahepatic gall bladder at the lateral area of the right lobe and the gall bladder of the lower margin of the liver at the right hepatic angle were associated with liver cirrhosis with the right lobe atrophy and the left lobe hypertrophy, 2 cases of the gall bladder of the lower margin of the liver at just-left side of the porta hepatis with hepatoma in the right lobe and 1 case of the intrahepatic gall bladder at the central portion of the right lobe with choledochal cyst.

  • A gerotor is suitable for miniature manufacturing because it has a high discharge per cycle and a simple structure, while also being widely used as lubrication oil of engines and the hydraulic source of automatic transmission. In the automobile industry, it has been necessary to continuously improve the flow rate and noise of internal gear pumps for better fuel efficiency through optimal gerotor design. In this study, to obtain an optimal gerotor with an ellipse-elliptical involute-ellipse combined lobe shape, an automatic program was developed for calculating performance parameters and drawing a gerotor profile. An oil pump was assembled with the optimal gerotor together with the port used at the actual field and CFD analysis was performed on this assembly using Ansys-CFX. A performance test for the oil pump was carried out and showed good agreement with the results obtained from the theoretical analysis and the CFD analysis.
