  • In reality, masonry infill modifies the seismic response of reinforced concrete (r.c.) frame structures by increasing the overall rigidity of structure which results in: increasing of total seismic load value, decreasing of deformations and period of vibration, therefore masonry infill frame structures have larger capacity of absorbing and dissipating seismic energy. The aim of the paper is to explore and assess actual influence of masonry infill on seismic response of r.c. frame structures, to determine whether it's justified to disregard masonry infill influence and to determine appropriate way to consider infill influence by design. This was done by modeling different structures, bare frame structures as well as masonry infill frame structures, while varying masonry infill to r.c. frame stiffness ratio and seismic intensity. Further resistance envelope for those models were created and compared. Different structures analysis have shown that the seismic action on infilled r.c. frame structure is almost always twice as much as seismic action on the same structure with bare r.c. frames, regardless of the seismic intensity. Comparing different models resistance envelopes has shown that, in case of lower stiffness r.c. frame structure, masonry infill (both lower and higher stiffness) increased its lateral load capacity, in average, two times, but in case of higher stiffness r.c. frame structures, influence of masonry infill on lateral load capacity is insignificant. After all, it is to conclude that the optimal structure type depends on its exposure to seismic action and its masonry infill to r.c. frame stiffness ratio.

  • The reliability analysis of simply-supported composite plate girder and box girder bridges under positive flexure is performed. The bridges are designed based on the AASHTO-LRFD specification. A performance function for flexural failure is expressed as a function of such random variables as flexural resistance of composite section and design moments due to permanent load and live load. For the flexural resistance, the statistical parameters obtained by analyzing over 16,000 samples of domestic structural steel products are used. Several different values of statistical parameters with the bias factor in the range of 0.95-1.05 and the coefficient of variation in the range of 0.15-0.25 are used for the live-load moment. Due to the lack of available domestic measured data on the dead load moment, the same values of statistical properties used in the calibration of AASHTO-LRFD are applied. The reliability indices for the composite plate girder and box girder bridges with various span lengths are calculated by applying the Rackwitz-Fiessler technique.

  • Considering the conversion of the Korea Construction Standards to Limit State Design (LSD), we analyzed the resistance bias factor for pullout resistance, as a part of the development of the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) for soil nailing; very few studies have been conducted on soil nailing. In order to reflect the local characteristics of soil nailing, such as the design and construction level, we collected statistics on pullout tests conducted on slopes and excavation construction sites around the country. In this study a database was built based on the geotechnical properties, soil nailing specifications, and pullout test results. The resistance bias factors are calculated to determine the resistance factor of the pullout resistance for gravity and pressurized grouting method, which are the most commonly used methods in Korea; moreover, we have relatively sufficient data on these methods. We found the resistance bias factors to be 1.144 and 1.325, which are relatively conservative values for predicting the actual ultimate pullout resistance. It showed that our designs are safer than those found in a research case in the United States (NCHRP Report); however, there was an uncertainty, $COV_R$, of 0.27-0.43 in the pullout resistance, which is relatively high. In addition, the pressurized grouting method has a greater margin of safety than the gravity grouting method, and the actual ultimate pullout resistance determined using the pressurized grouting method has low uncertainty.

  • In this study, S food manufacturing business located in Chungbuk was selected as the subject, and the transition in insulation resistance in major electrical equipment used in this food manufacturing business was analyzed for 4 years (2018-2021). It was confirmed that the insulation resistance decreased over time for all 18 electrical facilities. Insulation resistance changed due to environmental influences such as load characteristics and ambient temperature. Particularly in the case of the food manufacturing industry, it was confirmed that the decrease started after 2 years, although it varied depending on equipment and environmental influences. Furthermore, it was confirmed that management through predicting the management cycle of electrical equipment is possible by deriving a regression equation through regression analysis of insulation resistance measurement values.

  • There is a growing need for seismic resistance design. But it is controversial that standards of sway brace device in non-structural elements for buildings like pump waterway is vary widely. Therefore, in this study to get a valid range of sway brace device in seismic resistance design, using load test of sway brace device. As a result, load of safe range from 0 to 18.5 kN and under 29.4 kN, no structural fault of sway brace device. And using internet of things get a data of seismic resistance design from sensor node like accelerometer, GPS, tilt sensor and temperature sensor through steps of sampling and prediction. These results will be acceptable for monitoring system for seismic resistance in non-structural elements.

  • Most current design codes of concrete structures adopt the partial safety factor format to assure the proper safety margin or reliability against various limit states as a practical design tool. The safety factors, load and resistance factors and so on, are determined based on the theory of structural reliability, which takes into account the statistical uncertainties of both loads and resistances. The establishment of statistical models for load and resistance should be preceded the application of reliability theory. In this paper, especially the influence of the statistical variations of resistance models, which are described in terms of strength of concrete, strength of reinforcements and sectional dimensions and so on, are examined and the probabilistic models for resistance of reinforced concrete members were developed. The statistical data were collected on local tests and experiments in Korea and the Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) technique was used. The results of this paper may be useful and valuable in calibration of design code in this country.

  • Thispaper presents the results of an experimental investigation into the fire performances ofsimply supported iTECH composite beams using an ISO834 standard fire. There are very few independent studies on the fire resistance of composite steel and concrete structures of various designs. The iTECH composite beam system has been used in construction, but nothing is known about its influence in a fire. To evaluate the fire resistance performanceof the iTECH beam, a test was conducted for 4.7m-span-length iTECH beams under given conditions in a laboratory. The fire resistance performance of unprotected coatings of the iTECH beam has been examined, and a longer period of fire resistance was achieved by increasing the beam coating's section size and decreasing its load ratio. Coatings for the fire protection of iTECH beams reduce the rate of temperature rise of the beam in case of fire, and the required thickness of spray-on fire protection coatings can be determined by means of tests.

  • In this study, tests were carried out to find out a method to ensure the fire resistance performance of high-performance non-refractory coating CFT columns. For the high performance concrete fabrication with 100MPa, blast furnace slag(BS) and steel and nylon fibers were used. It was found that the partial replacement with BS improved the fire resistance performance of the concrete. Based on the results of lab tests, the large fire test was conducted. For this test, the CFTs with the size of ${\phi}500{\times}4,200mm$ and the reinforcement of SS 400 steel were prepared and they were subjected to a loading condition. It was found that as the level of load increased, the level of fire resistance decreased. For example, In with the loading condition of 2000kN the CFT could resist the fire for over 240 minutes, whereas, with the loading condition of 3,000kN and 4000kN applying to equivalent CFTs, the resisting time against fire were 184 minutes, and 120 minutes, respectively.
