The effective energy management method will provide the significant advantage to the residential customers under real time pricing plan since it can reduce the electricity charge by controlling the energy consumption according to electricity rate. The earlier studies for load management mainly aim to minimize the electricity charges and peak power but put a less emphasis on the human comfort dwelling in the residence. The discomfort and displeasure from the energy management only focusing on reduction of electricity charge will make the residential customer reluctant to enroll the real time pricing plan. In this paper, therefore, we propose optimal load control strategy which aim to achieve not only minimizing the electricity charges but also maintaining human comfort by introducing "the human comfort coefficient." Using the human comfort coefficient, the energy management system can reflect the various human personality and control the loads within the range that the human comfort is maintained. Simulation results show that proposed load control strategy leads to significant reduction in the electricity charges and peak power in comparison with the conventional load management method.
In this study a general analysis method for watersheds with the entire runoff conditions and corresponding water quality is proposed and its applicability based on the currently available information is investigated. Using the 8-day-interval data set of runoff and water quality observed by Nakdong River Environment Research Center, the flow duration curve and discharge-load relation curve for each unit watershed are established, then the load duration curve is finally constructed. This paper discusses how the load duration curve can be used in the assessment of TMDL. The entire Nakdong river watershed is also divided into prior managing areas of point sources or non-point sources in a way of general management. It is thought that LDC can be a great tool for visualizing overall probabilities of current water quality and thus for the TMDL management.

Implemented since 2004, TPLC (Total Pollution Load Control) is the most powerful water-quality protection program. Recently, uncertainty of prediction using steady state model increased due to changing water environments, and necessity of a dynamic state model, especially the watershed model, gained importance. For application of watershed model on TPLC, it needs to be feasible to adjust the relationship (mass-balance) between discharged loads estimated by technical guidance, and arrived loads based on observed data at the watershed outlet. However, at HSPF, simulation is performed as a semi-distributed model (lumped model) in a sub-basin. Therefore, if the estimated discharged loads from individual pollution source is directly entered as the point source data into the RCHRES module (without delivery ratio), the pollutant load is not reduced properly until it reaches the outlet of the sub-basin. The hypothetic RCHRES generated using the HSPF BMP Reach Toolkit was applied to solve this problem (although this is not the original application of Reach Toolkit). It was observed that the impact of discharged load according to spatial distribution of pollution sources in a sub-basin, could be expressed by multi-segmentation of the hypothetical RCHRES. Thus, the discharged pollutant load could be adjusted easily by modification of the infiltration rate or characteristics of flow control devices.

This study evaluated the feasibility of recovering and recycling nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) from livestock excreta as struvite ($MgNH_4PO_4{\cdot}6H_2O$) in South Korea. Our experimental results showed that struvite precipitation was a very effective way to recover N and P from livestock excreta. Moreover, our study demonstrated that struvite precipitates from livestock excreta (SPL) contain higher concentrations of N, P, and magnesium (Mg) as compared to compost and liquid manure from livestock excreta. In addition, although SPL contain high concentrations of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn), they meet the fertilizer criteria for concentrations of heavy metals. In South Korea, SPL cannot currently be used as a fertilizer due to legal constraints. Legal permission for SPL use would offer greater choice in livestock excreta management. In conclusion, recovery and recycling of N and P from livestock excreta as struvite can be an effective tool for managing nutrients in livestock excreta.
Application of residential demand response (DR) programs are currently realized up to a limited extent due to customers' difficulty in manually responding to the time-differentiated prices. As a solution, this paper proposes an automatic home load management (HLM) framework to achieve the household minimum payment as well as meet the operational constraints to provide customer's comfort. The projected HLM method controls on/off statuses of responsive appliances and the charging/discharging periods of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery storage at home. This paper also studies the impacts of different time-varying tariffs, i.e., time of use (TOU), real time pricing (RTP), and inclining block rate (IBR), on the home load management (HLM). The study is effectuated in a smart home with electrical appliances, a PHEV, and a storage system. The simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed HLM program. Peak of household load demand along with the customer payment costs are reported as the consequence of applying different pricings models in HLM.

In this paper, we present the configuration of Direct Load Control System using TCP/Ethernet Module for the Load Management Europe and America has operated the DLC system by many communication system, and Taiwan, Japan has controlled the cooling load at peak hours of power system. Up to now, Many Researches for the DLC of communication method, so called, pager, power line carrier, ripple control, etc. has advanced. Now, we present new communication method for the DLC using TCP/Ethernet module which is widespread all over the world.
In electricity industry, the improvement of load factor by flattening of load has been considered to be more important than any other tasks and has received wide concern and interest. Especially while annual peak load had occured early evening in winter during past decades, but we found the trend has changed so that annual peak load occured during the daytime in summer since1981 The useful practicing methods of this load management ale as follows; 1. Inducing of midnight load by thermal storage water heating 2. Seasonal differential rates. 3. Revising the peak load priceing (Time-of -use) It seems hard to expect that load research can be carried out in a short time, and we all have to exert outselves continuously to provide efficient load management method without wasting resources.

In Korea, Total Maximum Daily Loads(TMDLs) has been enforced to restore and manage water quality in the watersheds. However, some assesment of implementation plan of TMDLs showed that the achievement of the target water quality is not related to the proper allocation loads because difference of flow duration interval. In the United States, the discharge loads are determined by water quality modeling considering standard flow conditions according to purpose. Therefore, this study tried to develop the allocation method considering economical efficiency using water quality model. For this purpose, several allocation methods being used in the management of TMDLs is investigated and develope an allocation criteria considering regional equality and uniformity. Since WARMF(Watershed Analysis Risk Management Framework) model can simulate the time varying behavior of a system and the various water quality variables, it was selected for a decision support system in this study. This model showed fairly good performance by adequately simulating observed discharge and water quality in Miho watershed. Furthermore, the scenario simulation results showed that the effect of annual average water quality improvement to remove 1kg BOD is more than 25 times, even if point pollutants treatment facility is six times more expensive to operate than non-point pollutants treatment facility.

In this paper, we propose a method for estimating the peak load of pole-transformer in summer season considering the degree of cooling load possession in customer. The cooling load of customer is selected as the most reliable parameter of peak load in summer season. The proposed estimation method is restricted to the aspect of load management for pole-transformer. The main concept of proposed method is that the error of peak load estimation using load regression equation reduces with considering the degree of cooling load possession in customer. We propose an index for estimation of cooling load possession in each customer. The proposed index is defined as cooling load possession in customer (CLPC) and obtained from the increment of monthly electric energy. The membership function for deciding the uncertainty of cooling load possession in customer is used. The database of pole-transformer in Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) is used for case studies. Through the case studies, we verify that the proposed method reduces the error of peak load estimation than the conventional method in domestic.

The development and reduction scheme under implementation plan of TMDLs were performed in the Jinwi watershed including 8 cities (Gunpo, Yongin, Suwon, Anseong, Osan, Uiwang, Pyeongtaek and Hwaseong) since 2012. Progress of the annual development schemes was faster than the reduction schemes in most of the cities during the planning period. Main load reduction methods included establishment and enlargement of sewage treatment plants, resources of livestock excretions, and introduction of best management practices of non-point source pollution. Especially, reduction load using recycling and composting of livestock excretions comprised 34.1% of all reduction load. It is necessary to implement methodical development and reduction scheme for making of successful performance of TMDLs and water quality improvement in the Jinwi watershed.
