To find axial and lateral responses of impact-driven H piles in embankment(SM), the H piles are instrumented with electric strain gages, dynamic load test is performed during driving, and then the damage of strain gages is checked simultaneously. Axially and laterally static load tests are performed on the same piles after one to nine days as well. Then load-settlement behavior is measured. Furthermore, to find the set-up effect in H pile, No. 4, 16, 26, and R6 piles are restriked about 1, 2, and 14 days after driving. As results, ram height and pile capacity obtained from impact driving control method become 80cm and 210.3∼242.3ton, respectively. At 15 days after driving, allowable bearing capacity by CAPWAP analysis, which 2.5 of the factor of safety is applied for ultimate bearing capacity, increases 10.8%. Ultimate bearing capacity obtained from axially static load test is 306∼338ton. This capacity is 68.5∼75.7% at yield force of pile material and is 4∼4.5 times of design load. Allowable bearing capacity using 2 of the factor of safety is 153∼169ton. Initial stiffness response of the pile is 27.5ton/mm. As the lateral load increases, the horizontal load-settlement behaves linearly to which the lateral load reaches up to 17ton. This reason is filled with sand in the cavity formed between flange and web during pile driving. As the result of reading with electric strain gages, flange material of pile is yielded at 19ton in horizontal load. Thus allowable load of this pile material is 9.5ton when the factor of safety is 2.0. Allowable lateral displacement of this pile corresponding to this load is 23∼36mm in embankment.
Reinforced concrete (RC) columns which are the main vertical structural members are exposed to several static and dynamic effects such as earthquake and wind. However, impact loading that is sudden impulsive dynamic one is the most effective loading type acting on the RC columns. Impact load is a kind of impulsive dynamic load which is ignored in the design process of RC columns like other structural members. The behavior of reinforced concrete columns under impact loading is an area of research that is still not well understood; however, work in this area continues to be motivated by a broad range of applications. Examples include reinforced concrete structures designed to resist accidental loading scenarios such as falling rock impact; vehicle or ship collisions with buildings, bridges, or offshore facilities; and structures that are used in high-threat or high-hazard applications, such as military fortification structures or nuclear facilities. In this study, free weight falling test setup is developed to investigate the behavior effects on RC columns under impact loading. For this purpose, eight RC column test specimens with 1/3 scale are manufactured. While drop height and mass of the striker are constant, application point of impact loading, stirrup spacing and concrete compression strength are the experimental variables. The time-history of the impact force, the accelerations of two points and the displacement of columns were measured. The crack patterns of RC columns are also observed. In the light of experimental results, low-velocity impact behavior of RC columns were determined and interpreted. Besides, the finite element models of RC columns are generated using ABAQUS software. It is found out that proposed finite element model could be used for evaluation of dynamic responses of RC columns subjected to low-velocity impact load.

It is investigated character of the dynamic behavior at over excavation zone of roadbed using crushed stone instead of lean concrete. It is considered that behavior of roadbed using PENTAGON-3D and Baber's equation. Typical load of sine wave type using impact factor is compared to moving load system to examine relationship in using PENTAGON-3D case. Variations of this paper are material properties of roadbed, train velocity, subgrade bearing capacity. Using variations, safety of roadbed is estimated by dynamic behavior character.

In a previous study, the impact factor response spectrum and corresponding method for evaluating the load carrying capacity of bridges was suggested to improve the existing evaluation method. To verify the applicability of the suggested method, which is based on the frequency of bridges, the dynamic characteristic test for an actual single span simply-supported bridge was conducted. Through a field test under ambient traffic conditions, the dynamic response of the bridge was obtained using wireless accelometers and its fundamental frequency was identified. The peak impact factor was determined from the identified frequency and the impact factor response spectrum. The load carrying performance variation of the bridge was estimated considering the performance reduction factor, which was calculated using the current and previous natural frequency and impact factor. From the result, the load carrying capacity of the bridge was decreased, but the capacity was still enough because its value is greater than the design live load. Through the overall procedures and technical details presented in this paper, the suggested evaluation method can be applied to actual bridges with the acceleration data measured under ambient traffic conditions and the impact factor response spectrum.
In this study, to investigate the effect of the array of cylindrical baffles on debris flow impact load, a series of small-scale tests were conducted according to varying row numbers of installed baffles in the flume. After the test, the behavior of debris flow interacting with baffles during the flow process was investigated. Based on the results, the influence varying velocity and flow depth on Froude number and dynamic pressure coefficient were analyzed. Test results showed that the greatest peak impact load occurred at the second row of baffle arrays. The dynamic pressure coefficient was also estimated by suggested equation and compared with previous studies.

It is generally known that paper industry is the second largest industry in the use of process water, and also have the highest environmental impact load in the contaminant sources. Paper is produced from the mixtures composed of 1% fibrous raw materials and 99% water. The optimum use of process water effects on the quality properties of paper and the environmental impact load of waste water treatment. In this research, the kinds of fibrous raw material & additives used in the paperboard production line were investigated, and the quantification of environmental loads and the environmental effects of process water on COD potential were evaluated. The NBDCODs were also analyzed from process water by the method of waste water treatment in paper mill and applied for the optimum use of recycling water, and zero effluent process. In the fibrous raw materials, KOCC caused the highest COD potentials, and sack paper & UKP was comparatively low. The NBDCOD of KOCC largely reduced after biological treatment because of easily biodegradable properties, but AOCC contained non-biodegradable materials. In chemical additives, COD was high in turns of rosin>starch>deaeration agent>dye, NBDCOD greatly reduced in starch and deaeration agent. In the case of 2 kinds of paperboard product, the COD potentials was mainly high in starch, AOCC and KOCC.
In this study, collapse test of thin-walled structure is performed under axially quasi-static and impact load in collapse characteristic to develop the optimum structural member for a light-oriented automobile. Furthermore, the energy-absorbing capacity is observed according to the variety of configuration(circular, square), aspect ratio in aluminum specimen to obtain basic data for the improved member of vehicle. In both quasi-static and impact collapse test, Al circular specimens collapse, in general, with axisymmetric mode in case of thin thickness while collapse with non-axisynmetric mode according to the thickness increase. For Al rectangular specimens, they collapse with axisymmetric mode in case of thin thickness, with mixed collapse mode according to the increase of thickness. In terms of initial max. load, Al square specimen turns out the best member among specimens, and then Al square, circular and circular with large scaling ratio, respectively. In case of quasi-static compression test, the absorbed energy per unit volume and mass shows higher in Al circular specimen, and then Al square, circular with large scaling ratio, respectively, according to shape ratio the absorbed energy per unit volume and mass in case of max. impact compression load is higher than that of static load. But the absorbed energy per unit volume and mass shows that Al circular specimen is the best member. Especially, unlike max. compression loan, the absorbed energy per unit volume and mass in impact test turns out the low value.

An investigation was performed to study the inner damage of laminated composite plates subjected to out-of-plane load. During the investigation, inpact velocity and equivalent static load relationship was derived. Reddy's higher-order shear deformation theory(HSDT) and Hashin's failure criteria were used to determine inner stresses and damaged area. And impact testing was carried out on laminated composite plates by air gun type impact testing machine. The CFRP specimens were composed of [ .+-. 45 .deg. ]$_{4}$and [ .+-. 45 .deg. /0 .deg. /90 .deg. ]$_{2}$ stacking sequences with 0.75$^{t}$ * 26$^{w}$ * 100$^{l}$ (mm) dimension. After impact testing. As a result, a relationship holds between damaged area and impact energy, and a matrix cracking was caused by the interlaminar shear stress in the middle ply and was caused by the inplane transverse stress in the bottom ply.
Today, buildings are exposed to the effects such as explosion and impact loads. Usually, explosion and impact loads that act on the buildings such as nuclear power plants, airports, defense industry and military facilities, can occur occasionally on the normal buildings because of some reasons like drop weight impacts, natural gas system explosions, and terrorist attacks. Therefore, it has become important to examine the behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) structures under impact loading. Development of computational mechanics has facilitated the modeling of such load conditions. In this study, three kinds of RC walls that have different geometric forms (square, ellipse, and circle) and used in guardhouses with same usage area were modeled with Abaqus finite element software. The three configurations were subjected to the same impact energy to determine the geometric form that gives the best behavior under the impact loading. As a result of the analyses, the transverse impact forces and failure modes of RC walls under impact loading were obtained. Circular formed (CF) reinforced concrete wall which has same impact resistance in each direction had more advantages. Nonetheless, in the case of the impact loading occurring in the major axis direction of the ellipse (EF-1), the elliptical formed reinforced concrete wall has higher impact resistance.
