온도차 및 부하 저항에 따른 열전모듈의 발전 특성 분석 (Experimental Study on the Power Generation of a Thermoelectric Module with Temperature Difference and Load Resistance)

  • A thermoelectric module can be used for cooling or power generation. The basic requirements to achieve a significant thermoelectric performance are the same for both generators and coolers. Thermoelectric modules with $Bi_2Te_3$ materials are usually employed in the cooling applications below room temperature but it can also be used for the power generation in the similar temperature range. In the present study, the power generation with a $Bi_2Te_3$ thermoelectric module has been investigated. The temperature difference between the hot and cold sides of the module is maintained with electric heater and cold water from the circulating water bath. The result shows that the electric current generated increases with temperature difference and decreases with the load resistance. However, the voltage increases with both the temperature difference and load resistance. The electric power increases with temperature difference and it has the maximum value when the load resistance is about 4 ${\Omega}$ for a given device.

  • The summer climate is very hot and humid in Korea. The humidity is an important factor in determining thermal comfort. Recently, the research for dehumidification device development has been attempted to save energy that is required for the operation of the current dehumidifiers on the market. Existing dehumidification systems have disadvantages such as wasting energy to drive a compressor. Meanwhile, dehumidification systems with membranes can dehumidify humid air without increasing the dry bulb temperature so it doesn't have to consume cooling energy. In this paper, the cooling energy savings was studied when a dehumidification system was applied in a model building instead of a chiller. The sensible heat load was almost the same result, but the latent heat load was decreased by 38.9% and the total heat load was decreased by 8.5%. As a result, electric energy used to drive the compressor in a chiller was saved by applying a membrane air-conditioning system instead.

  • A newly-built inverter has to undergo a series of stress tests in the final stage of production line. This can be achieved by connecting it to a dynamometer consisting of a three-phase machine joined by a rigid shaft to a DC load machine. The latter is controlled to create some specific load characteristic needed for the test. In this paper a test method is proposed, in which no mechanical equipment is needed. The suggested test stand consists only of a inverter to be tested and a simulator converter. Both devices are connected back- to-back on the AC-side via smoothing reactors. The simulator operates in real-time as an equivalent load circuit, so that the device under test will only notice the behaviour of a three-phase machine under consideration of the load. In odor to wove rightness of the suggested test method, the simulation and actural experiment rallied out emulation for a 2.2kW induction motor.

  • In solar power system, the height and azimuth of the sun are important parameters which control generated power magnitude. The way that controls the daily generation magnitude according to latitude and longitude and uses two axles is often used in the existing sunlight racing system now. In this two-axle sunlight track control system the self-load is concentrated on one FRAME. It is influenced of the regular load, snow load and the wind load, etc. It is difficult to set up the system in the building already built up. This research is a development about the small-scale economy track device of independent load-dispersing type solar generation system. The position track algorithm is through calculating the trail of height and azimuthal of the sun calculation to follow the sun.

  • Mobile hydraulics require higher energy efficiency, and a simpler as well as robust design, than general industrial hydraulics. The 6/3-way directional control valve is widely used as a mobile hydraulic control valve. However, since the 6/3-way directional control valve is a spool type valve, it is difficult to maintain the load. A counterbalance valve is typically used, to maintain the load, and lift down. However, in an industrial field using a mobile hydraulics device, a pilot controlled check valve may be used to implement holding and lifting operation of the self-weight load, and a relief valve may be used simply to exert back pressure. But no comparative analysis of advantages and disadvantages of each method was revealed. In this study, various methods of holding and unloading load with self-weight in mobile hydraulics are investigated, and compared through simulation using AMESim software. This is experimentally verified by using Festo's mobile hydraulic test rig TP800.

탠덤형 자석 소호기를 사용한 760V급 직류 개폐기의 차단 특성 (760 V-Class DC Switch Breaking Characteristics Using Tandem Type Magnet Extinguisher)

  • Magnetic arc extinguishing technology is effective as an extinguishing device for low-voltage direct current (DC) circuit breakers with a resistive load of ≤4 kW. The separation distance between the magnet and the electrical contact must be shortened to increase the magnetic arc extinguishing force. However, if the magnet is installed too close to the electrical contact points, the magnet is exposed to high temperatures due to the arc current generated when the load current is cut off and the magnetism is lost. To solve this problem, the effective magnetic flux density at the electrical contact can be maintained high by placing the arc extinguishing magnet in a tandem structure with the electrical contact point between them, and the proper separation distance between the contact points and the magnet can be maintained. In addition, an electric arc extinguishing technology that emits arc energy using a series circuit of diode and resistor is used to suppress the continuous arc voltage generated by the inductive load. For the proposed circuit breaker, the breaking characteristics are analyzed through the breaking test for the DC load of the 760 V level, the load power of 4 kW, and the time constant of 5 ms, and an appropriate arc extinguishing design guideline is proposed.

AE방법에 의한 구상화흑연(球狀化黑鉛) 주철재의 파괴기구 구명(究明) (An Investigation of Fracture Mechanism of Spheroidal Graphite Cast Iron by Acoustic Emission Method)

  • In this experimental research, fracture mechanisms of spheroidal graphite cast iron (As Cast, annealed and normalized) were investigated by using Acoustic Emission (AE) technique. In this study, the data (AE signal) are digitized and processed with the 8 bits micro-computer (APPLE II) connected to the AE measuring device without data processing unit. The source of AE signal was estimated by fractography analysis. The results obtained in this experimental study are summarized as follows : For the heterogeneous materials (spheroidal graphite cast iron) with inclusions which may considered as cracks, it is found that low and high AE amplitude appear simultaneously and the load is found to be fluctuated in the final stage of deformation. But the lad is not fluctuated in tension test with low AE amplitude only. AE is measured within elastic region and it is confirmed that 0.2% offset yield load agrees approximately with the load point where AE counts decrease steeply after the point of maximum AE counts.

  • In this paper, using the power system information obtained from real-time monitoring device, to analyze the voltage stability margin index and described the voltage stability control scheme for voltage stability enhancement. Based on the utilization of the voltage stability monitoring index based on local information provided by the PMU(Phasor Measurement Unit), the purpose of the plan is to control the system stably in real time. In order to apply the load control scheme, the voltage stability margin is calculated using the data acquired through the PMU installed in each load bus. If the voltage drops below a certain level, load control is performed for each. The effectiveness of the voltage stability control measures is applied to the actual KEPCO system to analyze the effectiveness.

  • This paper develops a new Intelligent Electronic Device (IED), and then presents an application method of a monthly load forecasting algorithm on the smart IEDs. A Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) model implemented with Recursive Least Square (RLS) estimation is established in the algorithm. Case Study proves the accuracy and reliability of this algorithm and demonstrates the practical meanings through designed screens. The application method shows the general way to make use of IED's smart characteristics and thereby reveals a broad prospect of smart function realization in application.
