  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the connector having an influence on the elasto-plastic buckling load of ball-jointed single layer latticed domes. As an analytic model, domes are composed of tubular member elements, balls and connectors. The joint system of members in single layer latticed domes has influence on the buckling load. Therefore, in this paper, the variation of the elasto-plastic buckling load by effects of the connectors characteristics is analyzed. The structural behavior of the connector is investigated by following points: (1) the length of rigid zone, (2) looseness of screw and (3) the diameter of connector. In addition, the elasto-plastic buckling analysis is carried out through the variation of the connectors section of yielding part, and then the buckling mode of the dome is examined. As a result, it is emphasized that the characteristics of the connector have significant effects on the buckling load of latticed domes.

면내 조합하중과 횡압을 받는 선박 이중판의 강도 평가 (Strength Evaluation of a Doubler Plate of Ship Structure subjected to the In-plane Combined Load and Lateral Pressure Load)

  • A study for the structural strength evaluation of doubler plates subjected to the in-plane combined load and lateral pressure load has been performed through a systematic evaluation process. In order to properly estimate the static strength of doubler plate, elasto-plastic large deflection analysis is introduced including the contact effect between main plate and doubler. The characteristics of stiffness and strength variation are discussed based on the analysis results. Also, in order to compare the doubler structure with the original strength of main plate without doubler, a simple formula for the evaluation of the equivalent flat plate thickness is derived based on the additional series analysis of fiat plate structure. Using this derived equation, the thickness change of a equivalent flat plate is analyzed according to the variation of various design parameters of doubler plate and some design guides are suggested In order to maintain the original strength of main plate without doubler reinforcement. Finally, correlation between derived equivalent plate thickness formula and the developed buckling strength formulas for intact plates by author et al. is discovered and these relations are formulated for the future development of simple strength evaluation formula of doubler plate structure.

Optimum Air-Gap Flux Distribution with Third Harmonic Rotor Flux Orientation Adjustment for Five-Phase Induction Motor

  • This paper investigates optimum air-gap flux distribution with third harmonic rotor flux orientation adjustment for five-phase induction motor. The technique of objective is to generate a nearly rectangular air-gap flux, and it improves iron utilization under variation loading conditions. The proportional relations between third harmonic and fundamental plane currents is usually adopted in the conventional method. However, misalignment between fundamental and third harmonic component occurs with variation loading. The iron of stator teeth is saturated due to this misalignment. This problem is solved by third harmonic rotor flux orientation adjustment simultaneously, and direction and amplitude are changed with mechanical load variation. The proposed method ensures that the air-gap flux density is near rectangular for a maximum value from no load to rated load. It is confirmed that the proposed method guarantees complete both planes decoupling with third harmonic flux orientation adjustment. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is validated experimentally.

변형률과 층 두께의 변화를 고려한 준설점토의 압밀특성과 압밀기간 (Consolidation Characteristics & Consolidation Period of Dredged Soil by Considering Change of Strain and Stratum Thickness)

  • 액성한계 두 배 이상의 매우 높은 함수비를 갖는 준설점토의 압밀특성을 파악하기 위해 Rowe cell 압밀시험기를 사용하여 압밀시험을 실시하였다. 초기함수비 변화가 압밀특성에 주는 영향을 검토하기 위해서 함수비를 $100\~150\%로$ 변화시켜서 실험을 수행하였고 재성형 준설점토의 압밀특성과 비교하였다. 실험결과로부터 준설점토의 초기함수비가 증가할수록 e-logP 곡선의 비선형적 거동이 뚜렷하였고, 하중단계 40kPa까지는 곡선의 기울기 변화가 급변하였으며 그 이후의 하중단계에서는 완만한 형상을 보여주었다. 압축지수비는 Mesri(1973)가 제안한 값의 범위 내에 존재하였으며, 초기함수비변화가 압밀계수에 미치는 영향은 거의 없었고 오히려 압밀하중의 크기가 연직압밀계수에 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 대형압밀시험기를 이용하여 압밀기간 중 층 두께의 변화를 고려하여 압밀기간을 산정하는 Mikasa이론과 그렇지 않은 Terzaghi의 이론을 비교하였다. 그 결과 변형률이 큰 지반에서의 압밀기간은 압밀기간 중 층 두께의 변화를 고려한 Mikasa 이론의 경우가 그렇지 않은 경우보다 실측치에 근사하게 산정되었다.

  • An adaptive control system for D.C servo drive is developed via minimum variance control theory. The problem of designing this controller under varying load conditions is discussed. A robust self tuning controller that can track a constant reference and reject constant load disturbance is developed. Simulation study shows that the controller has excellent adaptation, capability as well as transient recovery under load changes.

  • Intermediate cooling for current lead is used of thermal link in conduction cooling and cooled of itself in liquid cooling because it is put in liquid. If a existing formula for cooling load and optimal diameter-length of current lead is applied, it generate some more cooling load. Therefore, variation of thermal link height and holding depth in liquid is considered. This result is used of reducing cooling load of current lead occupying most of superconducting system load and applying liquid/conduction cooling systems.

  • The power characteristics of the Mg-Air fuel cell were investigated with regard to variation of load conditions. The types of load current using for the Mg-Air fuel cell with 10% NaCl electrolyte were step type, ramp type and pulse type. It was found that transient phenomena occurred in the step current load, which is due to activate of the oxidation-reduction reaction process. And the transient time increase with the load current increase. In the load current of ramp type, the slop of voltage drop increased with current load slop ${\alpha}$ increase. The load voltage and power decreased according to the pulse period of load current decrease were attributed to the metal sludges.

  • In this paper, recurrent artificial neural network (RNN) based self tuning speed controller is proposed for the high performance drives of induction motor. RNN provides a nonlinear modeling of motor drive system and could give the information of the load variation, system noise and parameter variation of induction motor to the controller through the on-line estimated weights of corresponding RNN. Thus, proposed self tuning controller can change gains of the controller according to system conditions. The gain is composed with the weights of RNN. For the on-line estimation of the weights of RNN, extended kalman filter (EKF) algorithm is used. Self tuning controller that is adequate for the speed control of induction motor is designed. The availability of the proposed controller is verified through the MATLAB simulation with the comparison of conventional PI controller.

  • A robust optimization procedure is applied to determine the design of the laminated composite plates with buckling constraints. In order to investigate the variation effect to the whole performance of a structure, both design variables and system parameters are assumed as random variables about their nominal values. The robust optimization method has advantages that the mean value and the variation of the performance function are controlled simultaneously and the second order sensitivity information is not required. Considering the information of uncertainty, robust optima for the buckling load of the laminated composite plates with cut-out is obtained. The robustness of the structures is compared to that of the deterministic optimization using scaling factors.
