An online survey was conducted targeting adult women in their 20s and 30s who watched videos relating to fashion products on the NAVER shopping live channel; 281 questionnaires were analyzed using the IBM SPSS statistics 23 and AMOS 21 software packages. Consequently, the four factors of interactivity, attractiveness, price discount, and playfulness were identified from the data as characteristics of live commerce. Whereas interactivity and playfulness positively affected trust in both the seller and the product, attractiveness did nor significantly affect trust in the seller and the product. Furthermore, price discount had a significant positive effect only on trust in the seller and had no significant effect on trust in the product. In addition, trust in both the seller and the product had a significant positive effect on consumers' purchase intention; in particular, trust in the seller had a greater influence on consumers' purchase intention than trust in the product did. Research on the characteristics of live commerce can contribute to extend the theorical framework of live commerce research. Finally, fashion companies using live commerce channels will be able to develop live commerce channels that can elicit positive consumer perceptions based on the results of this study.

  • Purpose: Live commerce is a new type of electronic commerce in combination with live streaming services. It is expected to increase virtual presence in the context of online shopping by overcoming a lack of social interactions between sellers and buyers which have been raised as a limitation in electronic commerce. Drawing on the studies of communication media, this study examines how live commerce contributes to the increase of virtual presence which consists of telepresence and social presence. Telepresence refers to a buyer's perception that he or she is present at the physical shopping mall during live shopping streaming whereas social presence refers to a buyer's perception of social interaction with a seller which is human warm, social, sensitive, and personal. In this study, we verify key determinants of virtual presence and its consequences. More specifically, this study proposes virtual presence contributes to the increase of buyers' trust in products and further purchase intentions. Furthermore, we verify influential factors of virtual presence from the technical and influencer perspectives of live commerce. Design/methodology/approach: To test the proposed hypotheses, the partial least squares (PLS) analysis is conducted with a total of 250 data collected on users with experience in the TaoBao live streaming shopping platform. Findings: The results show that first, telepresence and social presence are increased by visibility, media richness and attractiveness in the context of live shopping streaming. Second, buyers' trust in product trust and purchase intentions are positively influenced by telepresence and social presence. Finally, buyers' trust in product has a direct, positve effect on their purchase intentions. Overall, the findings offer new insights into the studies of electronic commerce by introducting the concepts of virtual presence and media richness from the literature of communication media in the field of live commerce.

The perceived relational benefits from the live commerce channel were extracted into four groups: psychological, social, economic, and customerization benefits. Psychological benefits were found to have a positive effect on trust in seller but not trust in product. Social benefits and customization benefits had a positive effect on both trust in seller and product, but economic benefits had no effect. Trust in seller and in product had positive effects on purchase intention. Understanding consumer response in relation to perceived relationship benefits in live commerce can contribute strengthen consumer behavior research on live commerce channels. These results can guide fashion companies as they develop live commerce marketing strategies.

  • Purpose Live streaming commerce refers to the fact that people receive live audio and live video directly over the net. While some e-retailers use Live Streaming as a marketing strategy, the impact of live streaming commerce on customers' reuse intentions is unknown. The purpose of this study is to discuss the impact of live streaming commerce by external environmental factors based on S-O-R theory. Design/methodology/approach In this study, we developed a research model based on the S-O-R theory. Using the questionnaire survey method, consumers who used live streaming commerce on Taobao.com were taken as research subjects. Our research model aims to find out how content attributes, real-time interactions, media characteristics, and situational characteristics as stimulus factors influence consumers' perceptions and thus reuse intentions. Findings The results of the analysis show that external environmental factors have a significant impact on consumer perceptions and that perceived risks and flows can influence consumers' reuse intentions. In addition, we also examined the impact of reuse intentions on consumers' active participation. These results show that live streaming commerce can influence consumer perceptions and behavior in several ways.

  • This study aims to understand how an influencer's social and physical attractiveness, background and value homophily influences consumer's emotional attachment, which in turn causes user stickiness with regards the influencer's live commerce. We tested all proposed hypotheses among users of the online shopping platform "TaoBao". Ultimately, 297 questionnaires were collected by means of an online survey. The results revealed that social and physical attractiveness positively influence emotional attachment. Meanwhile only value homophily significantly affected emotional attachment, whereas background homophily did not significantly affect emotional attachment. Additionally, emotional attachment was found to significantly influence live commerce stickiness. We also investigated the moderation effect of perceived beauty trends of products sold on live commerce, where the results indicated that high beauty tends to have a higher effect on live commerce stickiness behavior. Lastly, theoretical and managerial implications have been offered.

  • In China, E-commerce live broadcast has emerged as the most popular and innovative online shopping form for today's consumers, and its "real-time interactive" feature can compensate for the communication delays of general online shopping. Based on the author's previous research it has been demonstrated that, in the E-commerce live broadcast environment, Internet Word of Mouth (IWOM) has become an important reference for consumers when making purchases. In this paper, we reconstructed the "IWOM-Purchase Intentions" model and use interaction (Auchor-Audience and Audience-Audience) as a mediating variable to empirically investigate the impact of IWOM on purchase intentions in E-commerce live broadcast. The data were collected through a questionnaire survey of individuals who had experience in E-commerce live broadcast and 250 valid data were obtained and analyzed by SPSS21.0. The results show that: the interaction (Auchor-Audience) acts as a mediator between IWOM (strength of relationship; word-of-mouth quality and word-of-mouth timeliness) and purchase intention; And the interaction (Audience-Audience) acts as a mediator between word-of-mouth timeliness on purchase intention, but has no significant mediation on the impact on the strength of relationship and word-of-mouth quality to purchase intention. On this basis, recommendations are made for the implementation of IWOM marketing strategies for E-commerce live broadcast platforms and anchors.

Second, the perceived value of users plays a mediating role between the quality characteristics of live commerce service and the continuous use intention. Third, personal innovativeness plays a moderating role in the effect of live commerce service quality on the perceived value of e-commerce users. Fourth, among the relative effects of the service quality characteristic variables, the relative effect of reliability is the greatest followed by that of convenience, marketability, and Wang Hong, in order of precedence, and the effect of social presence is the smallest. Research implications or Originality - South Korean government's plan to support for advancing into live commerce in China were presented as strategic implications for exporting South Korean products to China through online services including live commerce.

  • Live commerce has recently received substantial attention due to the spread of the non-face-to-face consumption culture driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. Live commerce has a higher purchase conversion rate than other forms of commerce. Accordingly, the likelihood of impulse buying in a live commerce environment is expected to be high. However, there is a shortage of research on consumer impulse buying in the live commerce environment. This study designs a scenario-based experiment using the integrated model of consumption impulse formation and enactment. Through this method, this study validates the influence of the characteristics of live commerce (i.e., vicarious experience and real-time interaction) on consumers' likelihood of impulse buying and further examines the moderating role of a live commerce host feature (i.e., professionalism) in these relationships. The results of this study confirm that both vicarious experience and real-time interaction have a positive effect on consumers' likelihood of impulse buying and that professionalism strengthens the impact of vicarious experience on the likelihood of impulse buying. This study's scenario-based experimental design is meaningful because it analyzes the likelihood of impulse buying in the context of live commerce shopping. Additionally, it provides live commerce service and platform providers with practical insights into how to maximize profits and operate services more efficiently.
