  • Purpose - Since Iran's economy is only now developing, and its stock market is only now emerging, we should deal with the relationship between ownership structure and conservative accounting of companies to see whether such a relationship exists in Iran's market. This study aims to investigate the relationship between ownership structure and accounting conservatism of listed companies on the Tehran Stock Exchange. Research design, data, and methodology - All listed companies on the Tehran Stock Exchange, for which the required information financial statements (balance sheet, profit and loss account) could be acquired for the period 2007-2012, were studied. A total of 123 companies from various industries was selected. Results - In order to test the hypotheses, multi variate regression (inter procedure), with their meaningful t- and f-statistics, and a Durbin-Watson autocorrelation model were used. Conclusions - The research results show that the ownership of major shareholders and ownership concentration have a negative significant relationship with accounting conservatism. Therefore, as a significant negative relationship between concentration of ownership and accounting conservatism at the 95% confidence level was found, the second hypothesis was confirmed.

  • The objectives of this study are threefold: 1) to identify the concepts of earnings, stock return and liquidity risks on public shareholding industrial companies listed in the Amman Stock Exchange, 2) to investigate the relationship between earnings, stock return, strength and direction of this relationship, and 3) to find out the effect of liquidity risks at stock return and the effect of liquidity risks on the relationship between earnings and stock return on Jordanian public shareholding industrial companies. To achieve the objectives, an analytical descriptive approach was used. As the data on the public shareholding industrial companies listed in the Amman Stock Exchange were accredited by 52 companies for the period between 2014-2019, data validation tests and their suitability for analysis were considered. A linear regression test was used to test the study hypotheses on the statistical analysis program. The results show that there is a positive and significant correlation at significance level between the earnings and stock return. The results of the study also showed that there is a statistically significant negative effect at significance level of liquidity risk on stock return. In addition, it was demonstrated that liquidity risks have significant negative effects on the relationship between earnings and stock returns.

The method used in this research is a quantitative description using the financial statements of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange that have adopted XBRL during the 2017-2018 period. The data analysis method used is multiple regression analysis with moderating variables. The results of this study show a negative and insignificant effect of XBRL on value relevance, a significant negative effect of size on value relevance, a positive and insignificant effect of growth on value relevance, and a significant positive effect of profit on value relevance; meanwhile, corporate governance moderation variable has an insignificant effect in all hypotheses. Suggestions are to increase the number of variables that have an important role in value relevance and expand the number of research objects to be compared.

  • Recently, many construction firms fall on hard times because construction business continues to stagnate. In this paper, we analyze the efficiency of the listed construction firms using a combined AHP and DEA model. In order to determine the input and output factors of DEA, the AHP model is applied to evaluate the importance of input and output factors. The benchmarking companies and efficiency value for the construction firms with inefficiency are also provided to improve the their efficiency. We analyzed the 57 listed companies consisted of 36 listed on KOSPI and 21 listed on KOSDAQ at the end of 2009. The analysis results show that eleven companies whose values of CCR are 1, and fourteen enterprises whose values of BCC efficiency are 1. In additions, the eleven firms have the scalability efficiency. Finally, we test the correlation between efficiency and the stock price and the correlation coefficient of efficiency group is 0.7 in the CCR model.

  • The propose of study is to examine the characteristics of companies with high possibility to form an internal control weakness using forecasting model. This study use the actual listed/unlisted companies' data from K_financial institution. The first conclusion is that discriminant model is more valid than logit model to predict internal control weak companies. A discriminant model for predicting the vulnerability of internal control has high classification accuracy and has low the Type II error that is incorrectly classifying vulnerable companies to normal companies. The second conclusion is that the characteristic of weak internal control companies have a low credit rating, low asset soundness assessment, high delinquency rates, lower operating cash flow, high debt ratios, and minus operating profit to the net sales ratio. As not only a case of listed companies but unlisted companies which did not occur in previous studies are extended in this study, research results including the forecasting model can be used as a predictive tool of financial institutions predicting companies with high potential internal control weakness to prevent asset losses.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the means of accounting fraud in Chinese listed agricultural companies and to suggest methods for the prevention of accounting fraud and follow-up measures. In this study, 21 Chinese agricultural enterprises were investigated and counted by means of accounting fraud. The means of accounting fraud of listed companies related to agriculture mainly consisted of profit inflation, inflating their net assets, the disclosure of accounting information violations, asset inflation for net asset inflation, and the incomplete disclosure for accounting information violations. Among these, income forgery was the most frequent among the 21 companies surveyed as a means of accounting fraud in profit inflation. Through this study, in the field of auditing academically, it is possible to find the motives of fraudulent acts in Chinese agricultural enterprises and to obtain advice to reduce fraudulent acts, and it will be of great help in theoretical research related to accounting frauds.

  • The study investigates the effect of the widened daily stock price limits on the usefulness of accounting information in Korea: 1) whether investors place a higher importance on audit quality, an indicator of the reliability of accounting information, and 2) whether there are differences in the relationships between audit quality and stock-price earning-rates two years before and after June 15, 2016. This study employs samples of two years (2013 to 2015) before the widening and two years after the widening (2016 to 2017). The samples are limited to the companies listed on the Korea Stock Exchange, accounting settled in December, collected from Fn-Guide and TS-2000 of the Korea Listed Companies Association. The results show that the positive association between audit quality and stock return was increased during the later period, compared to the preceding period. This tendency was more evident in companies with higher debt ratios and companies with lower levels of income smoothing, which is considered to have higher risks. The findings suggest that it is the first study evaluating the effect of widening daily stock price limits, made on June 15, 2015, on the usefulness of audit quality information by examining the relevance between audit quality and stock return.

  • When analyzing default predictions in real estate companies, the number of non-defaulted cases always greatly exceeds the defaulted ones, which creates the two-class imbalance problem. This lowers the ability of prediction models to distinguish the default sample. In order to avoid this sample selection bias and to improve the prediction model, this paper applies a minority sample generation approach to create new minority samples. The logistic regression, support vector machine (SVM) classification, and neural network (NN) classification use an imbalanced dataset. They were used as benchmarks with a single prediction model that used a balanced dataset corrected by the minority samples generation approach. Instead of using prediction-oriented tests and the overall accuracy, the true positive rate (TPR), the true negative rate (TNR), G-mean, and F-score are used to measure the performance of default prediction models for imbalanced dataset. In this paper, we describe an empirical experiment that used a sampling of 14 default and 315 non-default listed real estate companies in China and report that most results using single prediction models with a balanced dataset generated better results than an imbalanced dataset.

Research design, data and methodology: This research is case study research, where the population in this study are all distribution sub-sector companies listed on the IDX in 2017-2018. The sample selection technique used was purposive sampling and obtained 74 companies with the 2017-2018 research period. Multiple linear regression analysis was used in this study, using Stata 17. Results: The results of this study indicate that: 1) Gender diversity has a negative effect on earnings management. 2) Institutional ownership has a negative effect on earnings management. Conclusions: This study contributes to the agency theory where gender diversity and institutional ownership can reduce the agency conflict that the shrinkage of earnings management. These results indicate that companies in which there are female directors will reduce earnings management practices, this is due to the attitude of female directors who tend to avoid risk. The results also show that institutional ownership will also lead to reduced levels of earnings management, because institutional investors will increase its oversight of the company.
