This study examined the asset allocation of the aged and analyzed the impact variables on the portfolio ratio of different kind of finanical assets. The aged was divided three groups, 55-65, 65-75 and 75 over. The results showed that the aged are not likely to invest on risky asset and their assets composed of mostly real estates and bank account. The study include four different assets, such as liquid asset, risky assets, horne equity and other real estates, which reflects the liquidity problems of households asset allocation for the aged in Korea. The aged who do not participate on stock market are likely to have more liquid assets. Households lived in Daegu, Kwangju, ChungCheong and CheonRa tend to have more liquid assets compared to those in Seoul. Total income is appeared having positive relationship with illiquid assets including stock, bonds, and private pension. Age group with 75yrs over tend to have greater mean of illiquid assets and it may caused by the polarization of assets, which gives intuition for the future study.

The environmental pollution problem the globally related to global warming arises. In the construction industry the cement mostly use material, generates the great quantity of CO2 among the fired process and the global warming is more aggravated. In addition, the polysilicon that is the main raw material used in the solar power generation, produces 1 ton and the industrial by-product of 2 tons is generated. In this way, the arising sludge there is not method recycling and it is all discarded. Therefore, in this research, try to present as the fundamental research material for using the polysilicon sludge as the admixture of the cement in order to reduce the amount of the cement. The based on 'KS L ISO 679' was progressed mortar test. the liquidity, air flow rate, setting time, water absorption ratio, flexural and compression strength was measured. According to, appropriate replacement ratio of the polysilicon sludge tries to analyze.
This study examines what changes and impacts have brought to the corporate cash holding after the financial crisis. The main findings can be summarized by two parts. First, the recent high increase in cash holding is only found in few companies, meaning that the level of the overall ratio has not risen. Second, Korean companies tend to have a higher ratio of cash holding when they have more uncertainty about their business performances. The higher the uncertainty in overall business performances also has some effects on the cash holding patterns of the Korean companies.

This paper examines the impact of mergers on the financial performance of the Jordanian banking sector. This paper applies the financial approaches in analysing the effects of mergers on Jordanian banks' performance for two the periods: four years pre-merger and four years' post-merger for the period from 2001 to 2009. The sample of the study solely contains the case of the merger of the Jordan Ahli Bank (AHLI bank) with Philadelphia Bank in 2005. Data are tested for normality using the Shapiro-Wilk Test and Kolmogorov Smirnov test. The financial ratios and a statistical technique as a Mann-Whitney U test were used to assess the significant differences in the financial performance of the selected banks pre- and post-merger by investigating the performance-related financial ratio groups that are expressed by leverage, liquidity, efficiency, and cash flow ratio. The results show that there is an insignificant improvement in the ratios of AHLI bank in the period after the merger, except for the superior result provided by this study indicating that the leverage ratios improved significantly. The reason for the insignificant improvement in financial ratios may be that the post-merger period corresponds to the period of the global financial crisis that began in 2007.

The COVID-19 pandemic has hurt the economy and negatively impacted all enterprises' financial performance. The COVID-19 pandemic has put a strain on global manufacturing capacity and supply chains, and it is also the pandemic that has given up new opportunities for the logistics industry to develop as e-commerce has developed. By analyzing the financial performance of logistic firms listed on the Vietnam Stock Exchange, this study tries to quantify those consequences. A total of 114 logistic companies were included in the study's sample. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was performed to test the difference between some ratios in 2019 and 2020. This study found that the financial performance of 114 logistic firms listed on the Vietnam stock exchange has not improved. The data show that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the leverage ratio increased while the profitability and efficiency ratios decreased. The liquidity ratio did not show any significant differences. On the contrary, these businesses' performance, such as returns on assets, receivable turnover, and leverage, has decreased. The COVID-19 had a global impact on supply chains, therefore export activity and international transportation were badly hampered, with only a few domestic logistic enterprises growing.
Radioactive waste should be solidified before being disposed of in the repository to eliminate liquidity or dispersibility. Cement is a widely used solidifying media for radioactive waste, and cement solidified waste should satisfy the minimum compressive strength of the waste acceptance criteria of a radioactive repository. Although the compressive strength of waste should be measured by the test method provided by the waste acceptance criteria, the method differs depending on the operating repository of different countries. Considering the measured compressive strength changes depending on test conditions, the effect of test conditions should be analyzed to avoid overestimation or underestimation of the compressive strength during disposal. We selected test conditions such as the height-to-diameter ratio, loading rate, and porosity as the main factors affecting the compressive strength of cement solidified radioactive waste. Owing to the large variance in measured compressive strength, the effects of the test conditions were analyzed via statistical analyses using parametric and nonparametric methods. The results showed that the test condition of the lower loading rate, with a height-to-diameter ratio of two, reflected the actual cement content well, while the porosity showed no correlation. The compressive strength assessment method that reflects the large variance of strengths was suggested.
Purpose - This study examines the effect of corporate debt characteristics on the relationship between anti-takeover provision and the cost of debt. Design/methodology/approach - The study analyzes a sample of non-financial firms listed on the stock market with December fiscal year-end from 2011 to 2018. Debt default risk (debt size, liquidity ratio, interest coverage ratio, loss occurrence) and the issuance of bonds are utilized as measures of corporate debt characteristics. Findings - First, it is observed that creditors of firms with anti-takeover provision demand higher returns as the debt default risk of these firms increases. Second, for firms issuing bonds, it is found that bondholders in companies with anti-takeover provision also seek higher returns. Research implications or Originality - This study contributes by demonstrating that the effect of anti-takeover provision on creditors can vary depending on corporate debt characteristics. Particularly, the study highlights the importance of a firm's debt default risk and creditor distinction (bondholders vs. regular creditors) as significant factors that may influence perceptions of anti-takeover provision.
Purpose - This study examines the information effect and trading behavior of investors for the 430 stock split data from January 2004 to June 2018 in the Korean stock market. Design/methodology/approach - The stock split samples are classified into two groups by split ratio as well as three groups by price level prior to split. We also investigate the trading behavior of investors categorized by institutional versus individual investors. Findings - First, we find a significantly positive information effect on the announcement day. In particular, the information effect is more distinct in the group of larger split ratio and higher price level of stocks. Second, we find a huge increase in turnover following the stock splits, which mainly results from the trading by individual investors. Also, the increase in turnover by individual investors is evident in the group of larger split ratio and higher price level of stocks. Third, the stock splits have a negative impact on the long-term stock performance. The negative buy-and-hold abnormal return(BHAR) makes no difference in the groups by split ratio as well as price level of stocks. Lastly, we find individual investors tend to buy splitted stocks, which exhibit the long-term under-performance. Research implications or Originality - The results in this paper suggest that the liquidity hypothesis is not supported in the Korean stock splits. In addition, we observe that individual investors are exposed to losses due to their unfavorable trading behavior following the stock split.
The separation policy of prescription and drug dispensing which has been implemented since the 1st of July, 2000, has brought about great changes in patients flow within the healthcare delivery system. The changes in the patients flow, in turn, resulted in the change in the distribution of financial resources among the participating entities in the healthcare delivery system: pharmacies, clinics, small hospitals, general hospitals, and teaching hospitals. The purpose of this study is to shed some light in the change in the financial performance of teaching hospitals under the separation policy that has created environmental changes such as the decrease in the number of out patients visits, the increase in the capital expenditures, the rapid increase in labor costs and so on. For the purpose, this study has compared and analyzed the balance sheets, the income statements and other operational data of three teaching hospitals located in D area. The data include two periods: before(year 1999) and after(year 2001) the implementation of the separation policy. The analysis was conducted with an emphasis on the changes in the financial ratios such as liquidity, turnover ratio, performance ratio. and capitalization ratio. The results show that the financial performances of the hospitals under study were weaker than before the implementation of the separation policy, and that, while the operating expenses have increased remarkably, there was no tendency to corresponding increase in revenue. And the result of analysis of other operational indicators also show that the performance of the hospitals is getting worse. Based on the results, this study has suggested the directions of the healthcare policies. This study suggests to improve the current model of separation of prescription and drug dispensing, to grant subsidies for the training of residents in teaching hospitals, and to lower the rate of patients' out of porket payment in teaching hospitals.
The purpose of this study is to examine the differences of profitability based on the analysis of business and medical service performances of four hospitals in Incheon area with similar size. and to compare hospitals with the best and the worst performances and analyze the factors behind the differences. The differences could be caused by differences in medical service statistics, number of staff, and financial results, etc. The data was acquired through the homepage of the National Tax Service(financial statements for the fiscal year 2009) and the Medical Record Association of Incheon(medical service statistics for the years 2008 and 2009) along with questionnaire survey to the hospitals(personnel data for the year 2009). The results of the study are as follows. Medical profits to medical revenues ratio for the hospitals(referred as Hospital A, B, C, and D) shows, in order, C(8.2%), A(8.0%), B(7.8%), and D(7.4%). However, net income to medical revenues ratio shows otherwise: C(8.5%), D(5.8%), A(3.0%), and B(0.6%). Hospital B shows a high medical profit to revenue ratio but the lowest net income to revenue ratio due to large interest expenses. The leverage ratio of Hospital B is the highest (419.6%), resulting in a very low interest coverage ratio(1.1). On the other hand, Hospital C shows favorable results in both profit ratios, with 8.2% and 8.5% each. Hospital C has the lowest leverage ratio(53.0%) and the highest interest coverage ratio(34.9). Therefore, the results show Hospital C has the best performance while Hospital B the worst. The two hospitals(B and C) show similar results in certain areas and big differences in other areas. The area that has the biggest influence on financial results turns out leverage ratio. Hospital B shows 'very good' to 'good' results in terms of medical service statistics in general. However, the leverage ratio is too high and the liquidity ratio too low, resulting in a very low profit ratio. The results of this study have some limitations in terms of generalization as only four hospitals in Incheon area were selected for the study, resulting in a deficiency in the representativeness of the sample. Further studies with bigger sample size and deeper analysis are expected in this area.
