To evaluate the effect of liquid pig manure application, the growth and yield of rice and the quality of infiltration water were investigated with application of different amounts of liquid manure. At this study, liquid pig manure was treated with 100, 200, 300 and 400% of recommending nitrogen fertilizer level, respectively. Liquid manure with application rate more than 200% of recommending N fertilizer level (11kg) caused to increase of plant height and number of tiller at panicle formation stage, but it caused the plant disease and pest and plant lodging. In those treatment, number of panicles per hill and number of spikelets per panicle were increased, but yield of rice was less than chemical fertilizer treatment due to low rate of ripeness and 1,000 grain weight. $NO_3-N$ concentration in infiltration water sample collected at 90 cm of soil depth was increased with increasing application amount of liquid manure. With liquid manure application more than 200% of recommending N fertilizer level, it affected negatively on yield and environment such as groundwater quality.

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of application time and amount of liquid pig manure on growth and yield of rice plant and infiltration water quality. Liquid manure treatment with higher application rate and closer application time to transplanting time showed higher plant height and number of tiller at panicle formation stage, but it caused the plant disease and pest and lodging. In liquid manure treatment with higher application rate, number of panicles per hill and number of spikelets per panicle were higher but yield of rice was less than chemical fertilizer treatment due to low rate of ripeness and 1,000 grain weight. $NO_3-N$ concentration in infiltration water sample was increased with increasing application amount of liquid manure and closer application time to transplanting of rice plant. With consideration yield of rice and environment such as groundwater quality, the proper application amount were 150% and 100% of recommending N fertilizer level (11kg) at before winter and April or May treatment, respectively.
This paper relates to fabrication processing analysis of metal matrix composites by the injection of liquid metal into a fibrous preforms. One dimensional heat transfer analysis during squeeze infiltration process of aluminum base composites has been studied. An analysis method was investigated for the temperature distribution, infiltration velocity and melt infiltration characteristics with the commercial preform with short fiber array. When molten metal is infiltrated in a fibrous preform with random orientation, phase transformation will be occurred in a region such as molten metal, solidified region, preform region and infiltration composites region. a mathematical modelling for a solidification phenomena in fabrication process of metal matrix composites using a squeeze infiltration technique was investigated by the basic relations for liquid metal into a fibrous preform. The temperature distribution of theoretical results was compared with experimental data.

The main objective of this research effort was to develope the performance of C/SiC composites manufactured by LSI (Liquid Silicon Infiltration) method for solid and liquid rocket propulsion system and ensure the performance analysis technique. The various carbon preform were manufactured by filament winding, tape rolling, involute layup and stack molding process. For the best performance of thermal and mechanical properties, many process conditions were tested and selected by varying preform, the content of SiC, temperature, impregnation resin and chemical vapour reaction. In conclusion, the high performance and reliability of C/SiC composite were proved for solid and liquid rocket propulsion system. And the performance analysis technique related to mathematical ablation model was originated.

C/SiC composites were developed by a liquid silicon infiltration(LSI) method for use as heat-resistant parts of solid and liquid rocket propulsion engines. The heat resistance characteristics according to the composition ratio (carbon / silicon / silicon carbide) were evaluated by specimen test through arc plasma, supersonic torch test. An ablation equation for oxidation reactions was presented. Through the combustion test it was verified that various parts such as nozzle insert, exit cone and combustion chamber heat resistant parts for rocket propulsion can be manufactured and proved high ablation performance and thermal structure performance.
The formation mechanism of microconstituents in brazed joints of duplex stainless steel and Cr-Cu alloy which is an essential process of rocket engine manufacturing was investigated using Cu base insert metal. $SUS329J_3L$ and C18200 were used for base metal and AMS 4764 was used for insert metal. The brazing was carried out under various conditions. There were various phases in the joints, because of reaction between liquid insert metal and base metals. Since liquid insert metal reacts with duplex stainless steel, liquid Cu from insert metal infiltrated into the $\alpha/\beta$ interface of duplex stainless steel. Through the process of Cu infiltration, isolated stainless steel pieces come into the liquid insert metal. Since liquid insert metal reacts with Cr-Cu alloy. Cr precipitates from C18200 come into the liquid insert metal. With increment of bonding temperature and holding time, amounts and sizes of phases increased. but Cr-Mn compounds decreased at 1303k for 1.2ks and Mn-rich phases disappeared Fe-Cr compounds formed.
The infiltration of ceramics by liquid metals to fabricate ceramic-metal composites is discussed. In particular, the complexity of infiltrating ceramics by liquid metals at high temperatures due to interfacial reactions, metal oxidation, pore modulation and closure, and transient capillary forces has been highlighted. The role of these factors is discussed in the context of reactive infiltration with examples from ceramic/metal composites of practical interest. In addition to flow through porous ceramics, reactive penetration of dense ceramics via chemical dissolution and reaction is also discussed.
This study was carried out to determine the effects of pig slurry on growth of potato (Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Dejima), soil chemistry properties and infiltration water quality in volcanic ash soil and non-volcanic ash soil of Jeju. Fertilization of liquid pig manure was based on nitrogen. In volcanic ash soil and non-volcanic ash soil, there was no difference in the height and diameter of stems in chemical fertilizer and liquid pig manure application treatments. Also yields of potatoes were no significantly difference in chemical fertilizer and liquid pig manure application treatments. pH in all soil was increased by application of liquid pig manure compared to the chemical fertilizer plot. Contents of exchangeable K in all soil were accumulated excessively by fertilization of pig manure 100% compared to the chemical fertilizer 100%. But there was no difference between the chemical fertilizer 50%+liquid pig manure 50% and chemical fertilizer 100%. No difference between the chemical fertilizer and liquid pig manure was observed in available phosphate, exchangeable Ca and Mg. $NO_3$-N concentration of infiltration water sample collected at 70cm of soil depth was lower non-fertilizer than chemical fertilizer and liquid pig manure application treatments. In volcanic ash soil, the $NO_3$-N concentration of infiltration water was decreased from early, except liquid manure 100%. In non volcanic ash soil, the $NO_3$-N concentration of infiltration water increased until October 8, but then was reduced. In all soils, $NO_3$-N concentration of infiltration water was higher in the liquid manure 100% than those in the chemical fertilizer 100% and chemical fertilizer 50%+liquid pig manure 50%, but there were no differences. In conclusion, the growth of potato, fertilization of soil and $NO_3$-N content of infiltration water were not different between chemical 50%+liquid pig manure 50% and chemical 100% plot. So, liquid pig manure could be substituted for some amount of chemical fertilizer.

The vacuum infiltration method is one of the composite producing methods. There are several parameters in composite production by vacuum infiltration. One of them is particle size of reinforcement in particulate reinforced composites. In this study, MgO powder and Al were used as reinforcement and matrix respectively. MgO powders with different size and amount to give same height were filled in quartz tubes and liquid metal was vacuum infiltrated into the MgO powder under same vacuum condition and for same time. Infiltration height was measured and microstructure and fracture behavior of composite were investigated. It has been found that infiltration height and fracture strength were increased with particulate reinforcement sizes. It has also been determined that molten metal temperature facilitates infiltration.
