This study proposes a new method for automatic recording of snowfall by a mass unit which is required in weather forecast and hydrology research. In this method the weight of a buoyancy bar submerged in a liquid is measured by a strain-gauge loadcell. Field test results of the strain-gauge loadcell showed good stability as well as high accuracy. Indoor tests of the instrument using a large tank of 120 cm diameter and 25 cm height connected to a small tank measured the liquid level with a good stability, showing a measurement error of less than 0.1 mm in a 100 mm range. This method of water depth measurement is very useful in measuring snowfall because it has no limitation on the funnel size of the instrument. In addition, an antifreezing solution instead of water used in the tank makes a heating system for melting snow unnecessary.

The aim of this study was to enhance the Tartary buckwheat growth and phenolic profile by the application of $SiO_2$ on potsin the glasshouse. The liquid of $SiO_2$ were applied at three times after three weeks of sowing at ten days interval. The doses of the $SiO_2$ was low (2.5 ml/5 L water), high (10 ml in 5 L water) and control experiment was done without $SiO_2$. In this study, it is clearly shown that high dose of $SiO_2$ increased the buckwheat plant growth including, plant height, leaf length and width, stem diameter, fresh weight and number of seed per plant compared to control treatment. In the same way, the total phenolic compound (1421 mg/100 g), total flavonoid (35.1 mg/100g), rutin (3,130 mg/100g) and DPPH (82%) in plant were also increased high dose of $SiO_2$ compared to control (1,175 mg/100g, 31.9mg/100g, 860 mg/100g, 59%, respectively). Moreover, higher phenolic compound (1,421 mg/100g) and DPPH (82%) was observed in plant compared to seed (196 mg/100mg, 72 %, respectively). In the contrary, total flavonoid (36.2 mg/100g) and rutin (1,400 mg/100g) was higher in buckwheat seed compared to plant (35.1 mg/100g, 3,130 mg/100g, respectively). Finally, it is concluded that higher dose of $SiO_2$ enhance buckwheat growth and phenolic profile. Further investigation is needed to evaluate the optimum dose of $SiO_2$ according to soil conditions in the field.

In various attempts to relate the behaviour of highly-elastic liquids in complex flows to their rheometrical behaviour, obvious candidates for study have been the variation of shear viscosity with shear rate, the two normal stress differences $N_1$ and $N_2$, especially $N_1$, and the extensional viscosity $\eta_E$. In this paper, we shall be mainly interested in 'constant-viscosity' Boger fluids, and, accordingly, we shall limit attention to $N_1$ and $\eta_E$. We shall concentrate on two important flows - axisymmetric contraction flow and "splashing" (particularly that which arises when a liquid drop falls onto the tree surface of the same liquid). Modern numerical techniques are employed to provide the theoretical predictions. It is shown that the two obvious manifestations of viscoelastic rheometrical behaviour can sometimes be opposing influences in determining flow characteristics. Specifically, in an axisymmetric contraction flow, high $\eta_E$ can retard the flow, whereas high $N_1$ can have the opposite effect. In the splashing experiment, high $\eta_E$ can certainly reduce the height of the so-called Worthington jet, thus confirming some early suggestions, but, again, other rheometrical influences can also have a role to play and the overall picture may not be as clear as it was once envisaged.
In order to recycle the waste material and to develop the thickening unit of waste activated sludge from wastewater treatment facilities, the filtration bio-reactor equipped with a shadow mask filter module was employed for this work from which the operating properties and parameters were drawn. The sludge thickening and filtration unit is made of cylindrical acryl tank(12cm i.d. ${\times}$ 58cm height: working volume of 6L), where the flat-sheet type of shadow mask filter module(pore size: 220~250um, opening area: 34.8~39.6%) was installed and the effluent was withdrawn from the effluent port at the lowest point of the reactor, and the filtration was performed only by the hydraulic pressure. For evaluating the operating performance of this reactor, some parameters such as the solid-liquid separation of different biomass concentrations, the water quality of filtrate, the aeration cleaning time and the cleaning effect were investigated. Depending on the MLSS concentrations, the different time to withdraw 3L of filtrate was required in which the longer filtration time was necessary for the higher MLSS concentrations caused by the thicker formation of cake layer: 40 minutes for 5,000 mg/L, 70 minutes for 10,000 mg/L and 100 minutes for 15,000 mg/L, where the concentrations of SS were 8.9, 6.7 and 6.5 mg/L, respectively. Under the same operating conditions (the intensity of aeration cleaning: 80 L/min, MLSS: 10,000 mg/L), the proper aeration cleaning time was revealed 30 seconds, and the stable formation of cake layer was in the range of 10 to 15 minutes. Therefore, the shadow mask considered as a waste material can be of use as a filter material for the sludge thickening system.
Effects of 1.0 mol% CoO addition on sintering and the electrical properties of ZnO-Bi2O3-Sb2O3(ZBS) varistor system with 3.0 mol% co-addition of Sb2O3 and Bi2O3 at various Sb/Bi ratio (0.5, 1.0, and 2.0) were investigated. Cobalt had little influence on the liquid-phase formation and the pyrochlore decomposition temepratures of ZBS, while densification was mainly dependent on Sb/Bi ratio: when Sb/Bi=0.5, excess Bi2O3 irrelevant to the formation of pyrochore(Zn2Sb3Bi3O14) forms eutectic liquid at ~75$0^{\circ}C$ which promotes densification and grain growth; with Sb/Bi=2.0, the second phase Zn7Sb2O12 formed by excess Sb2O3 irrelevant to the formation of the pyrochlore retards densification up to ~100$0^{\circ}C$. These phases caused the coarsening and uneven distribution of the second phase particles on the grain boundaries of ZnO above the pyrochlore decomposition temperature(~105$0^{\circ}C$), which led to broad size dist-ribution of ZnO; the specimen with Sb/Bi=1.0 showed homogeneous microstructure compared with the others, which enabled improved varistor characteristics. Doping of Co increased the nonlinearity and the potential barrier height of ZBS, which is thought to stem from improved sintering behavior such as homogenized microstructure due to size reduction and even distribution of the second phase and suppressed volatility of Bi2O3, as well as the improvement in the potential barrier structure via increased donor and interface electron trap densities.

Sparse angular sampling has been studied recently owing to its potential to decrease the radiation exposure from computed tomography (CT). In this study, we investigated the analytic reconstruction algorithm in sparse angular sampling using the sinogram interpolation method for improving image quality and computation speed. A prototype of the spectral CT system, which has a 64-pixel Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT)-based photon-counting detector, was used. The source-to-detector distance and the source-to-center of rotation distance were 1,200 and 1,015 mm, respectively. Two energy bins (23~33 keV and 34~44 keV) were set to obtain two reconstruction images. We used a PMMA phantom with height and radius of 50.0 mm and 17.5 mm, respectively. The phantom contained iodine, gadolinium, calcification, and lipid. The Feld-kamp-Davis-Kress (FDK) with the sinogram interpolation method and Maximum Likelihood Expectation Maximization (MLEM) algorithm were used to reconstruct the images. We evaluated the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the materials. The SNRs of iodine, calcification, and liquid lipid were increased by 167.03%, 157.93%, and 41.77%, respectively, with the 23~33 keV energy bin using the sinogram interpolation method. The SNRs of iodine, calcification, and liquid state lipid were also increased by 107.01%, 13.58%, and 27.39%, respectively, with the 34~44 keV energy bin using the sinogram interpolation method. Although the FDK algorithm with the sinogram interpolation did not produce better results than the MLEM algorithm, it did result in comparable image quality to that of the MLEM algorithm. We believe that the sinogram interpolation method can be applied in various reconstruction studies using the analytic reconstruction algorithm. Therefore, the sinogram interpolation method can improve the image quality in sparse-angular sampling and be applied to CT applications.
The moment analysis of lysozyme was implemented using chromatograms that were obtained from weak cation exchange column in high performance liquid chromatography system. Three elution sodium phosphate buffers containing 1.0, 0.75, 0.5M sodium chloride were used. Experiments were conducted by varying flow rate, elution sodium chloride concentration, and lysozyme solute concentration. The general rate (GR) model was employed to calculate the first moment and the second moment. By plotting $L/u_0$ vs. $({\mu}_1-t_0)/(1-{\varepsilon}_e)(1-{\varepsilon}_i)$] equilibrium constants (K) were obtained from first moment analysis. Intra-particle diffusivity was obtained from theoretical plate number data. Based on the results of moment analysis, van Deemter plots were drawn in order to investigate the contributions of $H_{ax}$, $H_f$, and $H_d$ to total Height Equivalent to a Theoretical Plate (HETP, $H_{total}$). The effect of intra-particle diffusion ($H_d$) was the most dominant factor contributing to HETP while external mass transfer ($H_f$) was negligible factor.

This experiment was carried out to determine the effect of cutting frequency(3rd and 5th cut) and level of nitrogen fertilization(l50 + liquid manure, 300 and 450kgha) on growth characteristics, dry matter yield and nutritive vaule of reed canarygrass(Pha1aris arundinacea L.), at the forage experimental field, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, SNU, Suweon. Plant height of 3rd cutting(79.2cm) was significantly higher than that of 5th cutting(58.0cm). And dry mattter yield of cutting frequency was observed in 3rd cutting(16,902kgPna) and 5th cutting(l7,833kg/ha) As the nitrogen fertilization was increased, DM yield was significantly increased(p<0.05). When the nitrogen fertilization was applied at the level 150 + liquid manure, 300 and 450kg, dry matter yields were 16,5 12, 17,123 and 18,368kg/ha, respectively. The contents of neutral detergent fiber(NDF), acid detergent fiber(ADF) and in vitro dry matter digestibility(1VDMD) were similar among cutting frequency. However, slightly higher NDF, ADF and IVDMD contents were found in 5th cutting, but there was not affected by nitrigen fertilization. Based on the results of this experiment, it were indicated that to 5th cutting and 450kg nitrogen fertilization could be obtained from the increase of dry matter yield and nutritive value (Key words : Cutting frequency, Nitrogen fertilization, Dry matter yield, Nutritive Value, Reed canarygrass)

Total iron content and ferritin distribution have been determined in red pepper(Capsicum annuum L.) during development stage under conditions of iron nutritional status from hydroponic culture. Color of the leaves become chlorotic on iron deficient and high concentration. The plant height on each iron concentration had retarding effect at concentration lower than $25\muM$ and greater than 125$25\muM$. In normal green leaves. Total iron content was almost constant with a mean value of $2.5\mumole$ of iron/mg of dry matter, except at 63day, for which it increases slightly to $4\mumole$. Howere, iron content of chlorotic plants grew on iron free medium was not almost detectable. Also in post chlorotic leaves(++Fe), iron content was evidently increase unitl 7days after transfer on liquid medium, but decreased from after 14days. Also, ferritin protein analysed total protein extracts prepared from leaves of different ages using antibodies raised against ferritin protein. Ferritin protein deereased progressively during the first week of germination and was not detectable in vegetative tissues. Ferritin protein in post chlorotic leaves wasevidently strongly cnhanced until 11days after transfer on liquid medium but decreased until the leves became chlorotic.

A numerical simulation is attempted for the regenerative cooling heat transfer processes of the liquid propellant rocket engine. The heat transfer from the combustion gases to the thrust chamber wall is called gas side heat transfer. This heat is conducted radially to the coolant through the carbon deposit and metallic wall of thrust chamber Finally, this heat is convected away by the coolant flowing along the passages in the thrust chamber. The equivalence of these three heat fluxes of the above processes is utilized to determine the coolant side wall temperature, gas side wall temperature and the heat flux. When the number and shape(width, height) of coolant passages, the shape(size) of thrust chamber, oxidant and fuel properties, coolant properties, oxidant/fuel mixture ratio, coolant inlet temperature, the thickness of carbon deposit formed along the thrust chamber wall during combustion are given, reasonable radial direction temperature distributions and heat fluxes along the thrust chamber axis are obtained.
