The effect of oxygen partial pressure on the surface tension data of liquid alloys was investigated by means of comparing the calculated data and the measured one. Two binary alloy systems were chosen to observe the dependence of oxygen adsorption behavior on different oxygen partial pressures. It was found that the difference between the computed values and the experimental of the surface tension was within the range of maximum 10%.

Precipitated silicas modified by aluminium were characterised using inverse liquid chromatography in anhydrous heptane with squalene as probes. Their monolayer capacities of adsorption, Langmuir's and Henry's constants were determined from the desorption isotherms according to frontal analysis. A narrow band consisting of isotherms was observed. The introduction of aluminium has little influence on the monolayer capacity, Langmuir's constants and the Henry constant. Experimental data show that neither the amounts of aluminium on the silica nor the methods of the introduction of aluminium into the silica influence the interactions between the squalene and the silicas.
The statistical thermodynamical properties of heavy water are calculated according to the transient state theory of significant liquid structure. The calculated values are shown to be in good agreement with the observed ones. The grand canonical ensemble partition function for the adsorbed phase of heavy water on graphite surface is derived using the theory. The adsorption isotherm, the surface pressure, the molar entropy and the molar internal energy for the adsorbed phase and then the molar heat of adsorption are calculated according to the derived partition function. The thermodynamic properties of the adsorbed water are also calculated and the results are compared with those of heavy water and discussed in view of the experimentally observed phenomena.

Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) has been extensively investigated as the next generation energy source. Despite attractive features of simple fabrication process and its economical efficiency, there are some problems such as low efficiency and low long-term stability. Many groups have attempted the proposed way to improve the cell efficiency and long-term stability such as low recombination rate between $TiO_2$ surface and electrolyte, the development of new dye molecules capable of light adsorption as broadly as possible, the fabrication of a solid-state DSSC by replacing the liquid electrolyte, and protective coating on glass. In this work, we confirmed new dye-coating conditions to maximize the dye adsorption between the dye and $TiO_2$ nanoparticle surface. The experiment results coating conditions with the coating temperature of $70^{\circ}C$, the dye concentration of 10 mM and the coating time of 3 min. Conditions have two times, three times cycle the experiment in progress efficiency rises.
In this study, adsorption characteristics of PCBs on granular activated carbon were experimentally investigated in a batch reactor and in a fixed bed reactor. Granular activated carbon removed above 98.4% of initial concentration, 1000mg/L, of PCBs. It was estabilished that the adsorption equilibrium of PCBs on granular activated carbon was more successfully fitted by Freundlich isotherm equation in the concentration range from 1 to 1000mg/L. Because Freundlich parameter, ${\beta}$ is 0.346, removall treatment of PCBs by activated carbon accounts for the fact that toxicity reduction can be achieved through this process. Appearance time of breakthrough curve is faster with the increase flow rate and inflow concentration of liquid. The utility of granular activated carbon is enhanced with the increase of bed height and with the decrease of inflow rate.
It is known that the main source of the area image sticking is the ion charge adsorption on the alignment layer. We found out that the adsorption of the ion charge of the liquid crystal in the cell was physisorption, which takes place between all molecules on any surface providing the adsorption force is small.
A statistical thermodynamical treatment for polymer adsorption from solution is presented. The canonical partition function for the polymer solution in the presence of a surface or an impermeable interface is formulated on the basis of usual quasi-crystalline lattice model, Bragg-Williams approximation of random mixing, and Pak's simple treatment of liquid. The present theory gives the surface excess ${\Gamma}_{exc}$ and the surface coverage ${\phi}^s_2$ of the polymer as a function of the chain length x, the Flory-Huggins parameter x, the adsorption energy parameter $x_s$, and polymer concentration $v_2$. Present theory is also applicable to the calculation of interfacial tension of polymer solution against water. For the idealized flexible polymer, interfacial tensions according to our theory fit good to the experimental data to the agreeable degrees.
Equilibrium, kinetics, and thermodynamics of adsorption of acid black 1 (AB1) by coal-based granular activated carbon (CGAC) were investigated with the adsorption variables of initial concentration of dye, contact time, temperature, and pH. The adsorption reaction of AB1 by activated carbon was caused by electrostatic attraction between the surface (H+) of activated carbon and the sulfite ions (SO3-) and nitrite ions (NO2-) possessed by AB1, and the degree of reaction was highest at pH 3 (97.7%). The isothermal data of AB1 were best fitted with Freundlich isotherm model. From the calculated separation factor (1/n) of Freundlich, it was confirmed that adsorption of AB1 by activated carbon could be very effective. The heat of adsorption in the Temkin model suggested a physical adsorption process (< 20 J mol-1). The kinetic experiment favored the pseudo second order model, and the equilibrium adsorption amount estimated from the model agreed to that given by the experiments (error < 9.73% ). Intraparticle diffusion was a rate controlling step in this adsorption process. From the activation energy and enthalpy change, it was confirmed that the adsorption reaction is an endothermic reaction proceeding with physical adsorption. The entropy change was positive because of an active reaction at the solid-liquid interface during adsorption of AB1 on the activated carbon surface. The free energy change indicated that the spontaneity of the adsorption reaction increased as the temperature increased.
Cotton fiber and NaOH-mercerized cotton fiber had been treated by liquid ammonia and were dyed with two direct dyes, C.I. Direct Red 2 and Blue 1. The effect of the treatment on the rate of dyeing, dye adsorption isotherm, and affinity were studied. The rate of dyeing was increased in the order of NaOH-mercerized> NaOH/liquid ammonia-treated > liquid ammonia-treated>Untreated cotton irrespective of kind of dyes. The rate of dyeing for NaOH-treated fiber considerably increased, whereas liquid ammonia-treated or NaOH/liquid ammonia-treated did not because the structural transformation was not enough for the dyes to penetrate easily into the liquied ammonia-treated cottons. The time of half-dyeing was considerably reduced by mercerizing with NaOH, but lengthened by liquid ammonia treatment because of increased equilibrium dye exhaustion especially in dyeing with C.I. Dierect Red 2. In spite of a short time of the ammonia treatment for 4 seconds, the equilibrium exhaustions of both of direct dyes, C.I. Direct Red 2 and C.I. Direct Blue 1, were increased in proportion to internal volume of treated cotton under a condition of fixed affinity.
Recently each domestic NPP has achieved zero release in liquid effluent activity. However, when looking back past experiences in world nuclear power operation, it is thought that another maximum activity reduction in the released liquid effluent just prior to falling it into environment, if possible, will bring a good effect in PA viewpoint. As the intent of applying the safety concept of diversity to conducting the above activity reduction measure, a scheme passing that effluent through the Deposition Bed just before discharging it into ocean environment was divised. Both Zeolite and "the mixed "Anthracite-sand" were derived as the main activity adsorption medium used in the Deposition Bed, and the schematic drawings of this Bed were presented.
