  • Toward more accurate determination of the water cycle in association with climate variability and change as well as baseline data on the impacts of this variability on water resources, the Coordinated Enhanced Observing Period (CEOP) was launched on July 1,2001. The preliminary data period, EOP-1, was implemented from July to September in 2001. The first annual enhanced observing period, EOP-3, is going to start on October 1,2002. CEOP is seeking to achieve a database of common measurements from both in situ and satellite remote sensing, model output, and four-dimensional data analyses (4DDA; including global and regional reanalyses) for a specified period. In this context a number of carefully selected reference stations are linked closely with the existing network of observing sites involved in the GEWEX Continental Scale Experiments, which are distributed across the world. The initial step of CEOP is to develop a pilot global hydro-climatological dataset with global consistency under the climate variability that can be used to help validate satellite hydrology products and evaluate, develop and eventually predict water and energy cycle processes in global and regional models. Based on the dataset, we will address the studies on the inter-comparison and inter-connectivity of the monsoon systems and regional water and energy budget, and a path to down-scaling from the global climate to local water resources, as the second step.

  • The paper focuses on conception and development of complex systems composed mainly by a pump syringe subsystem and an electronically injector that facilitates patients saving data operation for medical staff use. We successfully developed conventional approaches for medical system staff requirements, such as system boundary conditions. Decisions at a given level are studied. We propose a complex system architecture, based mainly on patients collected data and ordered stepper injection parameters. System is successfully simulated and prototyped. Design and implement tests are accomplished, the proposed system ensures both the electric syringe pump and the electric injector operation. In addition, this new system introduces several additional options as patient database development and automation injection operation. Development and software operating tests to create a visualization control interface are validated. The solution performs syringe function and electronic injector. User can manage a syringe in two C modes of technology. We propose a program composed of two linked parts. If an error such radiologist bad target selection is made, an image with lower intrinsic quality emerges. Developed Shoot syringe different electronic cards are simulated and prototyped, in addition, maps are driven, prototype. All tests results are accomplished.

  • Human endogenous retroviral long terminal repeats (LTRs) have been found to be coexpressed with sequences of genes located nearby. It has been suggested that the LTR elements have contributed to the structural change or genetic variation of human genome connected to various diseases. The HERV-W family has been identified in the cerebrospinal fluids and brains of individuals with schizophrenia. Using a cDNA library derived from a human brain, the HERV-W LTR elements were examined and five new LTR elements were identified. These elements were examined using a YAC clone panel from the Xq21.3 region linked to psychosis that was replicated on the Y chromosome after the separation of the chimpanzee and human lineages. Fourteen elements of the HERV-W LTR were identified in that region. Those LTR elements showed a high degree of sequence similarity ($91.8-99.5\%$) with previously reported HERV-W LTR. A phylogenetic tree obtained from the neighbor-joining method revealed that new HERV-W LTR elements were closely related to the AXt000960, AF072504, and AF072506 from the GenBank database. The data indicates that several copy numbers of the HERV-W LTR elements exist on the Xq21.3 region and are also expressed in the human brain. These LTR elements need to be further investigated as potential leads to neuropsychiatric diseases.

  • As improving our standard of living, demographic change or industrial development, MSW that is closely linked to human behavior has been occurred much change. Notably, we usually have incinerated the combustible waste. In the process, they also emit a large amount of greenhouse gas that has directly affected the global warming and environmental pollution. Therefore, we need to make control system to manage future production and reduce generation of MSW. Thus this study analyzed the generation of MSW according to household members and floor area in apartment housing occupies the highest share. Then, we used both a correlation analysis and a regression analysis to make new estimation model of MSW generation. Based on this study, the results were used to suggest a method to efficiently handle MSW in the case of planning urban environment. Also, build a database to set up the integrated management system of MSW in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the different communication messages behind African women's hairstyles, and to compare young and old African women's hairstyles. The contents of this research are: the hairstyle as communication media, the types of African women's hairstyles, and the difference between young and old women's hairstyles. We used a review of literature and an empirical study as the research methods for this study. For the literature review, we used papers on African hairstyles, and we linked hairstyles to corresponding communication. For the empirical study, we took a database of 240 pictures (120 pictures of young women and 120 pictures of old women) from websites related to African hairstyles and we analyzed the pictures to differentiate between young and old African women's hairstyles. The results of this study reveal that African women's hairstyles express messages of power, ceremony, and status and identification communication. Within the 240 pictures, we found out which hairstyles are preferred by young and old women. Young African women prefer long, straight hairstyles and artificial hair (wigs), while old women keep short, natural hairstyles. The result of this research will be useful for understanding African women's hairstyles as well as contribute to the field of hair design.

  • Genotyping Tool for Viral SEQuences (GTVseq) provides scientists with the genotype information on the viral genome sequences including HIV-1, HIV-2, HBV, HCV, HTLV-1, HTLV-2, poliovirus, enterovirus, flavivirus, Hantavirus, and rotavirus. GTVseq produces alternative and additive genotype information for the query viral sequences based on two different, but related, scoring methods. The genotype information produced is reported in a graphical manner for the reference genotype matches and each graphical output is linked to the detailed sequence alignments between the query and the matched reference sequences. GTVseq also reports the potential 'repeats' and/or 'recombination' sequence region in a separated window. GTVseq does not replace completely other well-known genotyping tools such as NCBI's virus sequence genotyping tool (http://www.ncbi. nlm.nih.gov/projects/genotyping/formpage.cgi), but provides additional information useful in the confirmation or for further investigation of the genotype(s) for the newly isolated viral sequences.

Abstract The increasing popularity of the World-Wide-Web (WWW) has resulted in demand for more complex applications, and web gateways to database became core component in such applications. In this paper, we have designed and implemented WATS in order to support these environments. In WATS, application components are dynamically linked with application server processes. And it is implemented as extensible API application server architecture and is able to process a large amount of requests through separating web server from application server. Also we classify the components into various categories according to its own properties and devise process load balancing algorithm by using property-based scheduling. We show WATS using this algorithm performs better than those using general round-robin algorithm.

  • As AI technology is recently introduced into various fields, it is being applied to the fashion field. This paper proposes a system for recommending cody clothes suitable for a user's selected clothes. The proposed system consists of user app, cody recommendation module, and server interworking of each module and managing database data. Cody recommendation system classifies clothing images into 80 categories composed of feature combinations, selects multiple representative reference images for each category, and selects 3 full body cordy images for each representative reference image. Cody images of the representative reference image were determined by analyzing the user's preference using Google survey app. The proposed algorithm classifies categories the clothing image selected by the user into a category, recognizes the most similar image among the classification category reference images, and transmits the linked cody images to the user's app. The proposed system uses the ResNet-50 model to categorize the input image and measures similarity using ORB and HOG features to select a reference image in the category. We test the proposed algorithm in the Android app, and the result shows that the recommended system runs well.

  • A recent report of the Korean Intellectual Property Office(KIPO) showed that the number of biological sequence-based patents is rapidly increasing in Korea. We present biological features of Korean patented sequences though bioinformatic analysis. The analysis is divided into two steps. The first is an annotation step in which the patented sequences were annotated with the Reference Sequence (RefSeq) database. The second is an association step in which the patented sequences were linked to genes, diseases, pathway, and biological functions. We used Entrez Gene, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), and Gene Ontology (GO) databases. Through the association analysis, we found that nearly 2.6% of human genes were associated with Korean patenting, compared to 20% of human genes in the U.S. patent. The association between the biological functions and the patented sequences indicated that genes whose products act as hormones on defense responses in the extra-cellular environments were the most highly targeted for patenting. The analysis data are available at http://www.patome.net
