This paper explains how we define and represent modality in E-HowNet. Following Lyons (1977, reviewed in Hsieh 2003, among others), we hold that modals express a speaker's opinion or attitude toward a proposition and hence have a pragmatic dimension and recognize five kinds of modal categories, i.e. epistemic, deontic, ability, volition and expectation modality. We then present a representational formalism that contains the three most basic components of modal meaning: modal category, positive or negative and strength. Such a formula can define not only modal words but also words that contain modal meanings and cope with co-compositions of modals and the negation construction.

A necessary and sufficient condition for Demyanov difference and Minkowski difference of compact convex subsets in $R^2$ being equal is given in this paper. Several examples are computed by Matlab to test our result. The necessary and sufficient condition makes us to compute Clarke subdifferential by quasidifferential for a special of Lipschitz functions.

By comparing ‘Jing Mai(${\ulcorner}$經脈${\lrcorner}$)’ and ‘Jin Fu(${\ulcorner}$禁服${\lrcorner}$)’, we are able to see that ‘Jing Mai’ has adopted many of its aspects from ‘Jin Fu’, which also enables us to conclude that ‘Jing Mai’ was made after 'Jin Fu', with the 'Ren Ying Cun Kou Mai Fa(人迎寸口脈法)‘ being considered important. 'Jing Mai' was made relatively late, during the last days of 'Xi Han(西漢)' or early days of 'Dong Han(東漢)'. Also 'Jing Mai' was written after 'Ying Qi(${\ulcorner}$營氣${\lrcorner}$)’. ‘12 Jing Mai’ in ‘Jing Mai’ is based mainly on 'Yin Yang Shi Yi Mai Jiu Jing(${\ulcorner}$陰陽十一脈灸經${\lrcorner}$)‘ and has also referred to other meridian theories, modifying it again by theories of 'Jin Fu' and 'Ying Qi', forming the 'Jing Mai Lian Huan(經脈連環)' part. The major change in '12 Jing Mai' is that '6 Yang Jing(6陽經)' enters the abdominal and thoracic cavity, directly relating to 'Liu Fu(六腑)'. 'Ben Jing(本經)'s connection to 'Ben Zang' is referred to as 'Shu(屬)' and connection to 'Ben Zang(本臟)' is referred to as 'Lou(絡)', clarifying 'Biao Li Guan Xi(表裏關系)' inside and outslde and 'Zang Fu Xiang He(臟腑相合)' congruency. Looking at the pathological condition view of ‘Jing Mai’, the writer of 'Jing Mai Pian' has renewed it and has erased repeated symptoms of 'Suo Seng Bing(所生病)' that appears in 'Shi Dong Bing(是動病)'. If the wrong adoption of theories of previous generations are corrected and parts which do not comply with the text's original meaning and parts that posterities added are deleted, the ancient acupuncture theory preserved in this book is still a precious treasure.

Objective : The aim of this experiments was to investigate the effects of Kyongo Puryu(originated from ${\ll}$Classic on Difficulty${\gg}$), Kyongo Um-gok(originated from ${\ll}$Ling Shu${\gg}$) acupuncture on the Blood Pressure, Cardiomegalic index, and plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide in Hypertensive RAT induced by 2K1C. Methods : The effects of Kyongo(L8) Puryu(K7), Kyongo(L8) Um-gok(K10) acupuncture on Blood Pressure in Hypertensive RAT induced by Two Kidney One Clip(2K1C). Results : I. Blood Pressure was decreased significantly after acupuncture of L8 K7. II. Cardiomegalic index decreased significantly after acupuncture of L8 Puryu, L8 K10. IlI. Plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptide was increased significantly after acupuncture of L8 K7.

In the field of the theory about constitution(體質), the theory of 'Yun Qi(運氣) has close relations hip with the formation of theory of constitution. It is seen in the chapter 'Osangjungdae-ron("五常政大論")' that the theory of influenced the theory of constitution and talent by the 'Concept of Evaporation(氣化)'. In the chapter 'Yin-Yang twenty five men types' of the book the 'Ling Shu("靈樞")' the twenty five constitution types by the theory of 'Yan Qi is stated. And in the book 'Nei Ching("內經")' the constitution types of five elements' motion is described. In the theory of the 'five elements' motion and six kinds of natural factors' had such a problem that the individuals having the same born year and Qi had the same prescriptions irrespective of each other's constitution. So for the resolution of this problem the constitution theory of 'Yun Qi' had been formed by the mediation of the 'MyengRiHak(命理學)' and the theory of 'Yun Qi' in the book the 'OUnYukKiHanYeHakBoGam("五運六氣韓醫學寶鑑")'. But following problems should be resolved in chrono-inedieine. Those are the difference of men who has born in some year-day-time, each 'Yun Qi's brea king point, local time, summer time, living circumstances, twins, the concept of 'Zhung Won(中元)', etc.

There appears 7 chapters about questioning and answering between Lei Gong - Huang Di in which includes many contents that do not appear in other chapters of Su Wen(${\ulcorner}$素問${\lrcorner}$) and Ling Shu(${\ulcorner}$靈樞${\lrcorner}$). Especially terms such as Kui Duo(揆度), Qi Heng(奇恒), Yin Yang(陰陽), Cong Rong(從容). Ci Xiong(雌雄), Wu Zhong(五中), Zhong Shi(終始), Bi Lei(比類), Ming Tang(明堂), Ren shi(人事) do not show what they implicate and are difficult to understand. However, from the context, we assume that they maybe terms related to diagnosis. Although the Yin Yang Mai Fa of Su Wen totally differs from Nan Jing, we will look for the orgin of it through Wu Zhong. Furthermore, we will look into the development of Ren Ying Cun Kou Mai(人迎寸口脈), which does not appear in the contents of questioning and answering between Lei Gong Huang Di. The term Bi Lei that only appears in questioning and answering between Lei Gong - Huang Di will be analyzed along with diagnostic skill and the co-explained term Ren Shi. A lot of Xe Zheng(虛證) provoked by a intrinsic factor, Ren Shi, and suitability of its development to Lei Gong - Huang Di 's Mai Fa will be more closely discussed.

Objectives : Donguibogam Chimgupyun has a sort of acupuncture technic in Josun called Gyejokchimbub. This Gyejok refers to the habgogja of Ling shu guanzhen. This was conveyed to Japan as Shinkyugokuhitsuto's Betsutsuto but it is unclear as to how this is used today. Methods : Medical texts such as Donguibogam, Huangdineijing Lingshu, Yixuegangmu, Shinkyugokuhitsuto, Sugiyamamakototsutoryu, and Shinkyusuyo were studied for this research. Results : Gyejok acupuncture is conveyed to Japan as Shinkyugokuhitsuto's Betsutsuto but it is unclear as to how this is being used. What is similar to this technic is the Sanhoshujutsuho in hand technic's part and Sanhohariden in Juhachijutsu's Kuden which are shown in the chapter five of Book of Hyo. Moreover, this Sanho is Lingshu Guanzhen's Qici. This was continued as Sugiyamamakototsutoryu's Sanhoshujutsuho, but sansin in needle technic is similar to Gyejog, and it was branched out into Sanhoshujutsuho that is orally transmitted from Sanhoshiyuji as seen in the same book, Juhachijutsu's principal treatment. Conclusions : Habgogja is a 'Gyejog Tsuto' originating from Gyejog technic, and Qici is Sanho originating from Santoge. They developed into Sanhohariden from Sanhoshujutsuho. This tells us how Gyejog acupuncture technic has affected East Asia.

Background: Gastric cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer death in Taiwan. The literature has previously shown that age, tumor site, T categories, and number of metastatic nodes significantly affect prognosis. The aim of this study was to determine the long-term survival of patients with gastric cancer, as well as the effect of particular prognostic factors on survival. Materials and Methods: This was a survival analysis study with retrospective design. We reviewed the records of 64 patients with adenocarcinoma of the stomach who had undergone gastrectomy with curative intent between 2009 and 2012 at a teaching hospital in southern Taiwan. Data extracted from patient documents included age, gender distribution, tumor location, and pathological grading. Results: The median follow-up time was 4 years, and there were 31 deaths attributed to gastric cancer. Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed that retrieval of less than 15 lymph nodes from a patient was a significant predictor of survival. A significant predictor of poorer survival was higher pathological grading. Conclusions: Our results indicate that the number of lymph nodes retrieved and pathological grading could be viewed as crucial prognostic factors affecting the survival of individuals with gastric cancer.

In order to obtain 'value added products' from polypropylene (PP)/waste ground rubber tire powder (WGRT) composites, PP/WGRT microcellular foams were prepared via supercritical carbon dioxide. The effects of blend composition and processing condition on the cell size, cell density and relative density of PP/WGRT micro-cellular composites were studied. The results indicated that the microcellular structure was dependent on blend composition and processing condition. An increased content of waste ground rubber tire powder (WGRT) and maleic anhydride-grafted styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS-g-MA) reduced the cell size, and raised the cell density and relative density, whereas a higher saturation pressure increased the cell size, and reduced the cell density and relative density. With increasing saturation temperature, the cell size increased and the relative density decreased, whereas the cell density initially increased and then decreased.

Objective: To investigate the expression of endogenous hypoxia-related markers identified as being involved in vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC). Methods: We performed immunohistochemical staining of hypoxia-inducible factor-$1{\alpha}$ (HIF-$1{\alpha}$), glucose transporter-1 (GLUT-1), carbonic anhydrase 9 (CA-9) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), on tissue sections of 25 VSCC patients, 10 vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia (VIN) patients and 12 healthy controls. Results: HIF-$1{\alpha}$ expression was found in all sections, with no significant difference between controls, VIN and VSCC sections (all P<0.05). Glut-1 expression was found in 25% of control, 90% of VIN and 100% of VSCC sections. A significant difference between control and VIN or VSCC was observed (all P<0.05), while no difference was found between VIN and VSCC sections (P>0.05). CA-9 expression was negative in control sections, but it was found in 30% of VIN sections and 52% of VSCC sections with strong staining. Similarly, CA-9 expression also showed obvious differences between controls and VIN or VSCC sections (all P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference between VIN and VSCC (P>0.05). There were only 25% of control sections with weak VEGF expression, while strong staining was found in about 60% of VIN sections and 25% of VSCC sections (all P<0.05). In addition, a difference was also found between VIN and VSCC sections (P<0.05). Conclusion: Expression of endogenous hypoxia markers (HIF-$1{\alpha}$, GLUT-1, CA-9 and VEGF) might be involved in the malignant progression of VSCC.
